"Just as Master guessed, there is indeed a formation down there. But destroying it will probably be very difficult."
Feng Jiutian himself couldn't enter the Purple Flame Pool, but he guessed there was something down there, and indeed there was. Given Xiang Wan's strength, let alone destroying it, even merely shaking it wouldn't allow him to get his way so easily.
Anything that can be easily achieved will not be valued or remembered.
"Please be patient, let's discuss this further."
Feng Jiutian's expression was somewhat solemn as he watched the flames in the Purple Flame Pool, seemingly lost in thought.
“Master, have you noticed these past few days that whenever the purple flames change, a ghost will inevitably fly into them, or this happens just before the dark energy storm forms? There must be some connection between these events.”
"Let's wait a little longer; perhaps there are other opportunities we haven't discovered yet."
Saying that is not honest at all. Wouldn't it be more direct to just say that you doubt that Xiang Wan did not go all out?
"Master, if I die, will you remember me? Will you occasionally recall me and say, 'Oh, that girl in the Purple Flame Pool of the Demon Abyss, we spent some time together, nameless and faceless, quite pitiful.'"
Bringing up the old story again, Feng Jiutian broke his silence. "Zi Yan, your name, like this silent purple flame, will burn forever."
"Zi Yan? Feng Zi Yan? That sounds nice, I like it!"
Xiang Wan stood in front of Feng Jiutian, her eyes sparkling as she looked at him. The smile she gave him in that instant, illuminated by the purple flames, was like a burst of fireworks, dazzling and radiant.
Feng Jiutian never imagined that a name he casually gave her would make the woman before him so happy. He wished life could always be like their first meeting, and that this sincere heart would never change. With her in his life, perhaps there would be no room for anyone else!
This was the first time Feng Jiutian had faced his own heart, and the first time he had truly felt what his master had once told him.
Untouched by worldly affairs, untainted by worldly dust, if kept close at hand, he will never be troubled by the world. Such a tribulation, for him, should be a blessing rather than a curse. Perhaps Master is worrying unnecessarily.
Feng Jiutian smiled gently, embraced Xiang Wan, and felt a deep sense of peace.
She didn't know which words had moved him! Xiang Wan guessed that, most likely, it was her comment about possibly dying. His final act of tenderness before leaving was perhaps the best reward he could give Xiang Wan. Perhaps in his heart, Xiang Wan didn't have long to live either.
So, Feng Jiutian has a taste for this!
"Master, don't worry, even if it costs me my life, I will get you out of the Abyss. Just don't forget Ziyan after you get out. I'll be content as long as you think of me occasionally."
When it comes to playing the weak and innocent type, Xiang Wan is quite adept at it.
"Ziyan, you are my disciple. If I can get out, I will definitely take you with me."
Phew, finally got such a promise, it wasn't easy. Xiang Wan is a little tired.
On the edge of the desolate land, Qiaoyin's face had been sour since before dawn.
After a night, there was no response from the puppets she had released, which meant that if she didn't make a decision soon, the onlookers would probably start making fun of her.
"Xu Hua, you take a team and wait here. The rest of you come in with me. I refuse to believe that this godforsaken place can swallow us alive."
No matter how unhappy she was, Qiaoyin had to prioritize the bigger picture.
Among this group, she has the highest cultivation level and is also the leader. If she doesn't go in, who will? The people left behind can't all be useless. If Xu Hua stays here to watch over things, at least they can deal with it if someone launches a sneak attack.
Since this old man looks down on her puppet, then let him stay here as a decoration. If she refuses, it will make her seem like she's afraid of death.
“Elder Qiaoyin, the situation is unclear. Shouldn’t we take this time to consider our options?” Xu Hua asked, frowning.
"With me here, what could possibly happen?" Qiaoyin waved her hand, putting her tent into her storage ring, and said sternly, "Let me make this clear from the start: if you're timid and want to quit halfway through, I won't stop you. But if anything happens on the way back, don't blame me for not being able to take care of you. Alright, those who don't want to go, stay now, lest you say I, Qiaoyin, am forcing you."
Upon hearing this, the people who went with her became serious, but none of them backed down.
What a joke! They're here for training, representing their sect. It's just a reconnaissance mission, right? Quitting before even setting out—if word gets out, how will they ever face the world again?
Qiaoyin looked around and, seeing that no one was making a sound, her expression softened slightly. After making some arrangements, she led everyone off.
Beneath my feet lies a barren wasteland, where rubble, scorched earth, and weathered rocks are the unchanging features of this desolate place.
If you look closely at the traces left by the puppets as they passed by, you will find that they all moved in the same direction.
As you get further away from the edge of the area, the flow of spiritual energy becomes somewhat sluggish. If you don't circulate your energy and just travel normally, the dry air around you will take away the moisture from your body, making you unbearably thirsty and exhausted after only a short distance.
Some people tried to use their spiritual power to open the storage bag to get water, which was possible, but normally only a little spiritual power was needed to retrieve items. Now, they needed to increase it three or four times to barely open the storage bag. The rapid loss of spiritual power made these people feel uneasy.
"Fool, you've only walked a short distance and you're already using your spiritual power? Do you want to die even faster?"
Qiaoyin had been holding back for so long, but she finally couldn't bear it any longer and reprimanded him.
