Chapter 147 The Adulthood of a Cannon Fodder Zombie 29

Seeing Sui Yi's reaction, Luo Jingli was not angry at all; on the contrary, he was even happier. His smile was radiant and captivating.

"Demon!" Sui Yi cursed inwardly, pouting as she walked to the car door, opened the passenger door, and got in.

The man was absolutely smitten by the girl's adorable appearance, his eyes filled with even more doting affection. He automatically walked to the driver's seat, stepped on the gas, and started the car.

"Honey, fasten your seatbelt!" He glanced at Suiyi, who was sitting there so casually, completely lacking any decorum, and reminded her with a sigh.

“No need to tie it. With my current abilities, I can sit on the roof of the car without any problem.” Sui Yi said proudly, raising her eyebrows.

Indeed, after a year, she hasn't stagnated; in fact, she's improved tremendously. Perhaps because she's the creator of this world, the Heavenly Dao has shown her considerable favor, even more so than the protagonist's halo. She's now the Zombie Queen, a level nine zombie. The only thing capable of harming her is probably herself!

“Although you’re quite capable, we should still be prepared for anything. After all, even the strongest can’t fight off many opponents.” The man frowned, clearly disapproving of her idea. He glanced at her, then bent down and helped her fasten her seatbelt.

Looking into the man's focused eyes, thick eyelashes, sharp eyebrows, and strong nose, his chiseled face was right in front of her. With a sudden impulse, Sui Yi leaned in and pressed her cool, soft lips against the man's cheek, withdrawing them in an instant.

The man paused for a moment, then fastened his seatbelt and calmly returned to his seat.

Sui Yi: "??"

She couldn't understand what this man meant at all. Wasn't this what he wanted?

"Idiot, your boss is shy, and a little bit arrogant too."

"Shy?" Sui Yi carefully observed his face, which was serious as he looked straight ahead, driving his car.

"No! I can't see anything."

"You should see an ophthalmologist!" the system rolled its eyes at it.

"By the way, system, how many levels have you leveled up now?" In the past year, because there wasn't much to do, Suiyi used all her points to upgrade the system.

"You're at level four now!" the system said somewhat embarrassedly.

"Level four? Those points are only enough for you to reach level four?" Sui Yi was somewhat incredulous. According to the conversion it gave her back then, it should have been more than that.

"Because enabling permissions also requires points, I used some of my points to enable permissions."

"Then tell me what permissions you've enabled."

"Many items in the shop are now available for purchase, and the most useful thing is the random gift pack. You can draw from this gift pack once per world, even if I'm not there. Also, in each world, after completing the task, Sui Sui can leave behind her shadow to live with that person."

"It feels alright, can I use it now?" The random gift pack and the ability to use the system even when the system is not in my possession are quite useful permissions.

"The permissions are currently being updated and downloaded. The progress is a bit slow, so it cannot be used until the download is complete."

"Okay~_~, this hopeless world is probably coming to an end soon!" Sui Yi really didn't want to stay in this world anymore. Why? As an invisible foodie, and as a zombie, being able to look at delicious food but not eat it was the biggest blow to a foodie.

"Okay!" the system replied and then logged off.

This time, they weren't in a rush. Luo Jingli drove very slowly, stopping and starting frequently, and looking for supplies whenever they passed through a city, because their supplies had been almost used up over the course of the year.

"Jingli, there's a village nearby, let's go check it out." Suiyi sensed a village not far away and wanted to find some supplies.

"In this post-apocalyptic world, resources are scarce, and I wonder if anyone has figured out how to grow food. It's easy to run out of resources." After Luo Jingli got together with her, her whole world revolved around her, and all hatred no longer mattered.

"Don't worry, there's always a way out." My own novel, while subject to the butterfly effect, still has its essentials. Take the protagonist's halo, for example; these issues are not problems at all.

Two loud bangs suddenly came from not far away. Sui Yi and Luo Jingli exchanged a glance, got out of the car, and ran towards the sound.

As the two walked over, they saw smoke rising from the village, thick smoke filling the air. Sui Yi released her spiritual power and saw the scene of the incident in the village.

Chaos reigned everywhere. People trampled on the wounded, groans filled the air, ordinary people ran around frantically, and superhumans, their eyes bloodshot, roared and bled from their mouths. Bullets flew everywhere like they were free, some hitting zombies, others striking ordinary people.

Dismembered limbs and fragments, wailing sounds everywhere, a scene of utter devastation.

Humans and zombies have been fighting each other so fiercely that they have lost track of time. All they know is superpowers, and artillery fire flies everywhere.

Humans are powerful, but the zombie horde is no pushover either, and they're all roughly the same level. Sui Yi frowned, focusing her mental energy on a zombie king at the very back of the group, summoning it.

"Stop, come with me." After saying that, Sui Yi pulled Luo Jingli and jumped up the hillside outside the village.

The zombie king sensed Sui Yi's call, roared, stopped attacking, and disappeared in a few flashes.

The other zombies also retreated quickly. Seeing the group of zombies leave, the superhumans deflated and slumped to the ground. They wiped their faces with their sleeves, unaware that their sleeves were covered in blood, making the scene even more horrifying.

"Brother Long, can you still use your water-based abilities? I want to wash my face," the blood-covered man asked the person behind him.

"Hmm!" the man responded, releasing his water-based superpower to wash the blood off the man's face.

After washing, it finally doesn't look so scary anymore!

"Why did those zombies leave?" the man wondered.

"Whatever the reason, this is a good thing, otherwise we would all be dead here." The man was extremely serious, looking at the various corpses lying haphazardly before him, his eyes filled with sorrow. How many brothers died in this battle? How many ordinary people died? The earth was washed with blood, when will this apocalypse end?

After catching his breath, the man leaned on his gun and stood up, then, unsteadily and shakily, took his knife and began to dig out the zombie's crystal core.

The fighting has stopped, but the cries of people still linger. A woman leans trembling against the wall, comforting her crying child in her arms. A man, bleeding, leans against the wall, calmly loading bullets.

Some people, however, remain indifferent, simply going about their own business and ignoring the injured.

In the end times, people are numb, and the beauty left by our ancestors thousands of years ago is almost entirely forgotten in the face of life and death.

I imagine those people are cursing the injured for not dying, because it would drag down the healthy people, and their blood would attract zombies.

After the smoke of battle clears, there is numbness, indifference, and cruelty.
