The more he used these magical powers, the heavier the purifying power of the Buddha Pool became on him, and the more unbearable the pain became.
He only endured it for a moment before groaning in pain and then shouting.
Later, he started cursing at Chu Nian, probably because he finally realized that it was this woman who had kicked him into the Buddhist pool.
Chu Nian ignored him and wandered around the Buddha pool, using her spiritual power to explore the area within a hundred miles of the pool and within a hundred feet of the ground.
Zhao Feiyang had been waiting anxiously in the territory of the Golden-Winged Roc for a long time.
But the warbler kept muttering, "Having not returned for so long, could it have already been eaten by the Golden-Winged Roc?"
Zhao Feiyang was just a newly arrived minor official in the underworld. He had neither the ability nor the courage to confront these immortals, so he could only endure it without making a scene.
Yin Shanjun said, "Zhao Feiyang, don't be anxious. All your troubles are self-inflicted. Liu Nian didn't listen to your advice and insisted on going to see the Buddha Pool with the Golden-Winged Roc. No matter what the consequences are, she can only bear them."
That couldn't be more true. But Zhao Feiyang still couldn't help being anxious!
Seeing that Chu Nian hadn't returned for a long time, Zhao Feiyang mustered his courage and said, "Master Nanhua, Lord Yinshan, although Nian Nian is usually quite close to me, she is ultimately an old friend of our Emperor. I wonder..."
Before he could finish speaking, Master Nanhua interrupted him: "The Buddha Pool is deep within Mount Ling, formed from the supreme Buddha Dharma. If it weren't for the people of Mount Ling leading the way, outsiders would never be able to get within a hundred miles of it."
Yin Shanjun also said, "Zhao Feiyang, it's not that we don't want to help you, it's that we don't have the ability. That Golden-Winged Roc, even if Nan Hua and I join forces, we can probably only fight it to a draw; in addition, it was Liu Nian who insisted on going with him, so we wouldn't have any right to make a move; moreover, this is Lingshan, their territory."
Bai Jiuxiao said coldly, "As the saying goes, 'Those who do evil will not live.' If she dies on this sacred mountain today, no one can blame her."
As they were speaking, everyone suddenly felt the mountain beneath their feet tremble, and in the distance, plumes of dust rose into the air, and rocks flew everywhere.
Liu Ying asked, "What happened over there?"
Zhao Feiyang muttered, "It's very likely that Nian Nian and that bird got into a fight."
A series of thunderous roars echoed from the towering mountains, and a row of towering trees collapsed with a whoosh.
“That’s definitely the direction of the Buddha Pool,” Bai Jiuxiao said, his voice carrying a hint of joy.
Master Nanhua sighed, "Although it's also located in the Spirit Mountain, the Buddha Pool is thousands of miles away. The fact that we can feel the mountain shaking so violently from such a distance shows how intense the battle was… Alas!"
Seeing that Zhao Feiyang was too worried, Yin Shanjun comforted him, "I think that Liu Nian is no pushover. He might not even have a chance to escape when facing the Golden-Winged Roc."
Before the words were even finished, everyone saw a small figure rushing towards them from that direction. As the figure drew closer, it gradually grew larger in their view. They quickly recognized the person as Chu Nian.
Upon seeing that she was still alive, Zhao Feiyang was overjoyed.
Chu Nian had already sped up to get close.
Everyone noticed that she looked rather disheveled. Clearly, she had been pursued by a powerful figure, and hadn't even had time to cast a simple cleansing spell.
"Feiyang, I've already visited the Buddha Pool. Let's go home quickly." After saying that, Chu Nian pulled Zhao Feiyang and they sped away like a whirlwind towards the outside of Lingshan.
Seeing this, the other four guessed that she must have been chased so badly by the Golden-Winged Roc. Realizing that this woman had offended the Golden-Winged Roc, they couldn't stay and take the blame, so they all took to the wind and flew towards the outside of Mount Ling at top speed.
However, they soon discovered that the pursuers were not the Golden-Winged Roc, but rather monks from Mount Ling who were flanking them from all directions. Not only that, but as soon as they took off, they heard the sound of bells ringing and echoing throughout the mountains, so loud that their eardrums ached.
This looks like a warning bell!
What's even stranger is that they didn't see the Golden-Winged Roc chasing after them. Given the bird's speed, if it had actually caught up, none of them would have escaped unless they activated their teleportation talismans.
However, as long as he doesn't come, these monks probably won't attack them without reason.
The four of them hurried along, but with Liu Ying as a burden, their speed, though not slow, was still no match for Chu Nian, who had sped off a step earlier.
Strangely, just as they were about to reach the exit of Ling Mountain, they saw wisps of smoke slowly rising from the exit, and then the exit simply disappeared from sight.
Chu Nian, who was holding Zhao Feiyang's hand, suddenly stopped and turned into a stone statue at an eerie speed.
Even Zhao Feiyang, who was standing next to her, couldn't sense what kind of magic she was using. It wasn't until he fell to the ground that he was shocked to find that Chu Nian had turned into a stone statue.
At the same time, the eighteen Arhats who were on duty guarding the gate suddenly appeared in the sky.
As soon as Zhao Feiyang stopped, Yin Shanjun and the others who were chasing after him caught up. When they saw that Chu Nian had turned into a stone statue, and that his posture, attire, and even appearance were like those of a Bodhisattva, they were all quite surprised.
Did these monks use magic to turn this woman into a stone statue?
"Esteemed benefactors," said the first of the eighteen Arhats, the Dragon-Subduing Arhat, who approached the crowd with his hands clasped together. "We monks should have welcomed you to our sacred mountain with the utmost courtesy. However, trouble has arisen in the mountain, and we apologize for disturbing you."
Master Nanhua also placed one hand in front of his chest to form a Dao mudra and said, "Your Excellency is joking. We just came to ask the Golden-Winged Roc about an old matter. Now that we have finished asking, we are about to leave when we see that the gates of Mount Ling are suddenly closed. What happened?"
Although I, Nan Hua, do not frequently interact with Mount Ling, I know that its gates are always wide open and it would never shut out those who seek Buddhism.
The Arhat Subduing Dragon said, "So it is the True Man of Nanhua. Actually, it's nothing serious. With the gates of Mount Ling wide open, it's inevitable that there will be some madmen who covet the power of our Buddhist teachings, thinking that this sacred Buddhist land might hold some treasures. Little do they know that our Buddha is compassionate and only speaks of saving all sentient beings, never coveting any treasures. The Buddha also had an ancient precept forbidding the collection of treasures, and we Buddhist disciples dare not disobey the patriarch's decree."
Master Nanhua asked in surprise, "Judging from what you mean, Venerable One, could it be that something has been lost from Mount Ling?"
The Arhat Subduing Dragon said, "Oh, indeed, we have lost an item left behind by the Buddha. This item holds great sentimental value for us juniors, so we still hope to find it." As he spoke, he formed a hand seal, revealing a portrait in the air, and asked the crowd, "May I ask, esteemed benefactors, have you seen this female benefactor?"
Everyone was horrified when they saw this.
