Chapter 471 Nine Tails (17)

Yin Shanjun pondered for a moment and then read the two lines aloud again: "The door is not a door, the fog is not fog, Bodhi has no tree; things are not empty, emptiness is not emptiness, when people leave, all things are empty!" He then turned to ask, "Nanhua, what do you say?"

Nan Hua said, "It's like mocking the monks of Mount Ling for not being able to completely detach themselves from the four elements; but it's also like explaining the defensive restrictions protecting Mount Ling..."

Willow warbler asked, "Things are not empty, emptiness is not empty, what does that mean?"

Nan Hua suddenly had a flash of inspiration and asked, "Where did she say she collected the water from the Buddha Pool?"

Yin Shanjun: "Her little space."

Nan Hua nodded with a smile and said, "That's right, it's that small space. We've been focusing on the fact that she has a small space, but we forgot one thing: the water of the Buddha Pool can't be contained by just any space."

Secondly, we see the void as seemingly empty, but perhaps this small space is actually within the void before our eyes; or perhaps we are all within this small space…

Speaking of this last conjecture, he suddenly felt that this conjecture was a bit terrifying, because if that were the case, wouldn't all of them be under the control of Liu Nian?

However, judging from Liu Nian's manner of speaking and acting, the latter possibility seemed unlikely. He felt that it was more likely that the phrase "emptiness is not emptiness" referred to the apparent emptiness, but in reality, there was another space existing there.

She was hiding in that "other space".

Yin Shanjun said, "It sounds more likely that there's another space in the void." At this point, a thought suddenly struck him, and he asked, "Do you think that woman really left? Or rather, did she really not go to the underworld?"

Liu Ying didn't understand their "emptiness is not emptiness" argument at all, and asked in bewilderment, "Why would you ask that?"

Meanwhile, Zhao Feiyang had already entered the underworld through the gate opened by the boundary stone and went straight to the Fengdu Palace to meet the Northern Emperor.

He knew he had messed up his mission, so even though the underworld had long since moved with modern times and no longer practiced kneeling, he still quickly knelt before the Northern Emperor.

When the Northern Emperor saw him kneeling as soon as he returned, he said coldly, "It seems you know you disobeyed me and brought that woman into the underworld. I'm going to deal with you. I want to tell you that kneeling won't help."

Zhao Feiyang was completely confused and explained very solemnly, "Your Majesty, I kneel because I failed to impersonate you this time and was exposed in front of your two friends. You previously ordered me not to bring that woman back to the Underworld, and I was just following orders and did not bring her."

The Northern Emperor's expression remained icy as he said, "You didn't bring her with you, so who is the woman chatting with Bai Ze by the seventh gate?"

Zhao Feiyang asked, utterly bewildered, "What woman?"

Northern Emperor: "Go and see for yourself at the seventh gate!"

Zhao Feiyang quickly got up and ran to the seventh gate, where he was shocked to find a young girl leaning against the Bai Ze stone statue. She had an incomparably beautiful face, a natural charm, a smile on her lips and affectionate eyes, and was muttering something to the Bai Ze stone statue.

Zhao Feiyang was so angry he wanted to punch someone. He rushed over and asked, "Niannian, didn't you say you weren't coming? What... what's going on?"

Chu Nian replied confidently, "I said I wouldn't come, but that doesn't mean I'll never come again!"

Zhao Feiyang suddenly realized, "So you were just playing word games with me!" He should have known better; this woman wasn't so easy to talk to!

He asked in bewilderment, "How did you get into the underworld?"

Chu Nian rolled her eyes and said, "Why should I tell you?"

Zhao Feiyang was immediately exasperated. Seeing her muttering to Bai Ze again, "Tell me, little donkey, what's going on?" he couldn't help but ask, "Niannian, why are you always picking on this stone statue?"

Chu Nian rolled her eyes at him again and said, "What do you know? This guy can fool you guys, but he can't fool me."

Zhao Feiyang looked at the stone statue with a puzzled expression. Then his gaze unconsciously fell on the statue's eyes. Suddenly, he felt that the eyes were like a bottomless ancient well, as if they were going to suck him in.

Then the woman said, "Little donkey, don't do anything rash! Don't take out your anger on others after you've been wronged by me!"

Zhao Feiyang immediately snapped out of his daze, pointing at the stone statue with a hint of lingering fear: "It, it, it..." He was so flustered and unsettled that he didn't know how to describe the shock he was experiencing.

Chu Nian said, "Go ahead and do your thing. I'll chat with Little Donkey for a while longer."

Zhao Feiyang was almost in tears, and said, "It was the Emperor who ordered me to come here to see you."

Chu Nian: "What, he changed his mind and wants to see me?"

Zhao Feiyang: "How would I know!"

Chu Nian: "Then I'll reluctantly go see him!"

Zhao Feiyang said nervously, "Be very careful what you say when you see the Emperor, don't make him angry."

Chu Nian said impatiently, "I know!" and strode towards the deepest part of Fengdu Palace.

Seeing this, Zhao Feiyang quickly followed, feeling even more uneasy than before.

"Jingting, do you want to see me?" Chu Nian asked with a smile as they arrived at the main hall behind the ninth gate.

Lin Jingting glanced at her indifferently and said, "No." After a pause, she added, "I just wanted Zhao Feiyang to see what he'd done!" She then glared at Zhao Feiyang with a very sharp look.

Zhao Feiyang's legs immediately went weak, and he knelt down again.

Lin Jingting: "If you want to kneel, don't kneel in front of me, kneel at the main gate!"

"Yes." Zhao Feiyang dared not disobey the order, so he quickly got up and went out, kneeling at the gate.

Seeing this, Chu Nian shook her head helplessly and said, "Didn't your underworld already catch up with modern times? Why are you still into this stuff?" As she spoke, she walked to Lin Jingting's chair, jumped up, and sat on the table.

Lin Jingting looked at her with a somewhat stern expression.

Seeing the expression on his face, which seemed to say, "I'm very unhappy," Chu Nian asked, "Why do you look like that? Who made you angry?" She then became serious and said, "Tell your master, and your master will teach him a lesson for you!"

Lin Jingting's lips twitched slightly, and he tapped his fist twice on the table where Chu Nian was sitting.

Chu Nian glanced down at the ground beneath her buttocks, immediately understood, gave an embarrassed smile, and jumped off the table.

Lin Jingting's expression softened slightly, but his voice remained icy as he said, "My computer shows that your name is Liu Nian. You are a little fox sent by Master Lingshan, whose nine tails were severed. Due to a fortuitous encounter, you were given this reincarnation."

Chu Nian: "Hmm, what's wrong?"

Lin Jingting: "The woman who came last time was named Liu Nian."

Chu Nian: "Does it matter what your surname is? It's all the same, Nian Nian."
