Chapter 581 Crossing (6)

She wandered around for a while before heading to the Sutra Repository. Last time she visited Mount Ling, although she captured Xiao Jin and stole the Buddhist energy from the Buddha Pond, she hadn't had time to read any of the scriptures.

This time, she planned to come secretly and leave secretly, and naturally, she would also have to look around secretly. Using Xiao Jin's token, she successfully entered the scripture pavilion and began to immerse herself in the scriptures.

Now she finally understood why the monks of Lingshan resented Xiaojin. Xiaojin was practically a bug in Lingshan. It could be said that as long as one had Xiaojin's token, all the barriers, magic arrays, and shielding and protective measures throughout Lingshan would be rendered useless.

That Buddha really favored Little Gold.

Chu Nian buried himself in the many classics in the Sutra Repository, and more than a month passed without him realizing it. During this month, monks often came and went from the Sutra Repository, either to clean or to tidy up, but most of them were Buddhist disciples who had come here to read the scriptures after receiving guidance from the Buddha or other venerable ones.

Through the monks' conversation, Chu Nian learned some things.

It is said that although the library contains many scriptures, not just anyone can read them. Only those who have received a token from the Buddha can open these scriptures. Moreover, different scriptures correspond to different tokens. In other words, you can only read the books that the venerable ones have permitted you to read; you don't even have the chance to open other books.

Chu Nian found these messages a bit frightening: it seemed like she could open every book; Little Gold's token truly lived up to its reputation as an all-powerful token.

There's a second thing: it seems that some nuns from Emei have come looking for us.

This library is actually a tower-shaped building, divided into seven floors, from the first to the seventh, with the classics collected ranging from low to high level. After more than a month of intensive study, Chu Nian had already reached the seventh floor.

However, she had only copied the classic content and could not fully comprehend it yet. In particular, the many classic texts on the seventh level were extremely profound and difficult to understand, and she needed to spend time pondering them carefully.

Therefore, she continued to immerse herself in the seventh level. Unexpectedly, on this day, her amazing five senses detected two disciples coming to read books on the first level. The scriptures on the first level contained relatively simple and easy-to-understand content; some were simply descriptions of techniques that did not require high comprehension to learn.

Most disciples from Lingshan who come here to study scriptures enter the first level, with only a very few reaching the second. As for the third level, only the most promising and talented disciples are allowed to ascend. In the past month or so, Chu Nian has only observed two Buddha-level Venerables ascend to the fourth level.

From the fifth to the seventh floor, Chu Nian was the only one wandering back and forth during this time.

The two disciples reading scriptures on the first level had already reached the Nascent Soul stage. In the outside world, this would be considered a mid-level cultivation, but within Mount Ling, they were merely considered the lowest-level cultivators. They could only read scriptures on the first level and couldn't even advance to the second.

Then one of them said, "Senior brother, have you heard? Several nuns have come to Emei, and their cultivation is quite strong."

The second one said, "Yes, I heard that the leader is a Mahayana master."

The first one asked, "Did they come here to seek scriptures or to hear the Buddha preach?"

The second one chuckled and said sarcastically, "I heard that Emei lost a disciple. It's said that the disciple left a note saying he was coming to Mount Ling, so they came to Mount Ling to ask for him back."

The first one exclaimed in surprise, "What? He left a message saying he was coming to Mount Ling, and those Emei nuns thought that disciple had actually come to Mount Ling?"

The second person said, "Yes, they don't even consider what kind of place our Ling Mountain is. Do they think anyone can just come and go as they please?"

At this time, Mount Ling was not open to believers as it had been when Chu Nian came as Liu Nian last time. The mountain gate and magic array were activated, and only disciples with tokens and authorized guests could enter.

The first one said, "That's right. Ordinary people can't see Mount Ling even if they come here. I also heard that that disciple first cultivated Buddhism and Taoism, then cultivated demonic Taoism, and then ruined all his cultivation techniques. He's a cripple who came to Mount Ling."

The second one laughed loudly several times, his laughter full of sarcasm. However, he suddenly added, "But I heard that Buddha Tathagata personally received them."

The first person said, "Perhaps it's because of that Mahayana Venerable One that they can't refrain from showing up!"

The second person asked, "Then, what did the Buddha Tathagata say?"

The first one shrugged helplessly and said, "What can I say? Just tell the truth. But I heard those nuns absolutely refuse to believe me. Ha, what do they think Mount Ling is?" He shook his head repeatedly while sneering.

The second person said, "As monks do not lie, if Buddha Tathagata said that the Emei disciples did not come, then they did not come. Why don't they believe it?"

The first one: "It seems to be at the foot of Mount Ling; they sensed the female disciple's aura."

The second one: "That only proves that the female disciple arrived at the foot of Mount Ling; whether she entered or not is another matter!"

The first one scoffed, "These Emei Buddhist friends always claim to be a branch of our Lingshan, but they know absolutely nothing about our Lingshan!"

"Don't even mention our Mount Ling, even a nobody sect has a protective array that doesn't let just anyone in. They're convinced the missing female disciple came to Mount Ling. You tell me... ugh, it's absolutely hilarious. I heard that Mahayana female venerable one is still constantly clamoring to argue with Buddha!"

The second person sneered, "They're just a few ignorant nuns from some small place. Buddha wouldn't stoop to their level, which is why he's been tolerating them all this time!"

The first person said, "That's right. Buddha ordered the monks in charge of entertaining these nuns with good food and drink. That's why they say Buddha's power is boundless and his cultivation is profound. If it were anyone else, who could endure this?"

Chu Nian thought to herself: My disciple has endured for hundreds of years!

Although Chu Nian did want that cheap master to shift his attention from Demon Mountain to Spirit Mountain—because she felt that the old nun was not pure in her six senses and needed a higher Buddhist master to guide her, she deliberately left her aura at the foot of the mountain when she came.

Moreover, after she returned to Emei a few days after meeting with Lin Jingting, the old nun placed a tracking spell on her.

Otherwise, why would Kong Yuan be so certain that she was in Lingshan?

However, Chu Nian did not want Emei to truly clash with Lingshan because of her, nor did she have any intention of being an enemy of Lingshan. Therefore, after listening to the conversation between the two young monks, she decided to go out and meet her cheap master.

When she came downstairs, the two young monks were still there. They were quite surprised to see her, and the scriptures they were holding fell to the ground.

Chu Nian, with the wide sleeves of his white monk's robe fluttering, walked past the two young monks with great ease and opened the door to leave the Sutra Repository.
