"Oh dear, you're finally awake." The smell of disinfectant in her nostrils told Leng Yue that she had woken up in the hospital once again.
Opening her eyes, Leng Yue saw only the former head nurse, Zhao Qin, by the bedside. She glanced around; Leng Jian, Wang Qing, and the others were not there.
Zhao Qin's eyes showed pity as she explained softly, "I heard that lady was so frightened that she had a miscarriage, so they're all in the obstetrics and gynecology ward right now. Would you like some water? Are you hungry?"
Leng Yue shook her head to indicate that she didn't need it, then opened her mouth to say thank you to Zhao Qin, but found that she couldn't speak. Leng Yue looked completely bewildered, staring anxiously at Zhao Qin, and pointed to her throat.
Seeing Leng Yue like this, Zhao Qin comforted her, telling her not to worry, and went to the duty room to call a doctor. It was Director Zhang, the same one who had previously confronted Leng Jian.
Seeing that Leng Yue was alone except for Zhao Qin, Director Zhang frowned again. However, he said nothing, and walked a few steps to Leng Yue's side. "Little girl, don't be afraid, let me take a look. Come on, open your mouth, ah~"
Leng Yue obediently opened her mouth, but no sound came out. Director Zhang glanced at her and instructed the nurse behind him to take Leng Yue for a CT scan of her brain. Zhao Qin, still worried, took Leng Yue herself.
The nurse then brought a wheelchair and pushed Leng Yue away.
Director Zhang shook his head and couldn't help but sigh to the nurse beside him, "This young lady is really unlucky. She was just discharged and hadn't even left the hospital before she was back. Sigh!"
The nurse behind her, however, thought differently. "Director, I actually think this girl is quite lucky. She fell from the fifth floor a few days ago and wasn't hurt at all. Today, someone jumped from the fifth floor and hit her, yet she still survived. This isn't a privilege most people have, is it?"
After listening, Director Zhang pondered for a moment, then nodded. It made sense; as doctors, they rarely saw anyone escape unharmed after being hit by an object thrown from a great height. After all, even the smallest object, falling from a height, possesses considerable force. Especially when it hit an adult. It has to be said, Leng Yue was incredibly lucky.
"Let's go. I reckon there are quite a few people getting brain CT scans. I'll wait in my office. They can just come to me with the results when they arrive," Director Zhang said before leaving.
The nurse returned to the nurses' station and, taking advantage of a lull in the conversation, gossiped with the nurse next to her about Leng Yue. "Hey, let me tell you, that girl in room 305..."
As soon as the nurse finished speaking, several other nurses gathered around. They all knew about Leng Yue's situation. So, the group started gossiping, each offering their own version of events. The gossip was similar to what Director Zhang had previously mentioned; some said Leng Yue was unlucky, others said she was lucky.
Just then, Zhao Qin returned with Leng Yue. As Zhao Qin passed the nurses' station, she saw them huddled together, seemingly talking about something. She became serious and said, "What are you doing during work hours? What if a patient rings the call button and you don't hear it? Don't always huddle together; go do your own thing."
At this moment, the nurses who had been chatting happily scattered. The nurses told Zhao Qin about the things that Director Zhang had told them earlier.
Zhao Qin nodded and then pushed Leng Yue to the office to find Director Zhang.
"The results are in?" Director Zhang asked when he saw Zhao Qin pushing Leng Yue.
Zhao Qin nodded and handed the report to Director Zhang. Director Zhang took it and looked at it. "There's some blood stasis. It seems the blood stasis is affecting the language center. Don't worry, I'll give you some medicine to improve blood circulation and remove blood stasis. Observe for a few days to see if it can be absorbed."
Leng Yue nodded. As long as the blood clots could be absorbed, there wouldn't be a problem. After Zhao Qin took Leng Yue back to her ward, she went to the pharmacy to get her medicine. Busy running around, anyone who didn't know better would think Leng Yue was Zhao Qin's relative.
Leng Jian and Wang Qing didn't show up by evening. Leng Yue didn't seem to care much; she wasn't the original owner of this body and had no expectations. But then again, the original owner probably didn't care much about that family either, right?
Since the original owner treated them as strangers, how could she possibly have any expectations of strangers? In that case, it seems that the original owner's suicide attempt wasn't triggered by that family, right?
The hospital operates on a regular schedule; by nine o'clock, it had already become quiet. Leng Yue didn't have a cell phone; it had broken when she fell from the building. No one had bought her a new one, and of course, no one had tried to contact her.
Having slept a lot during the day, and with it not yet her usual bedtime, Leng Yue couldn't fall asleep. Lying in bed, she thought about the underworld and found it quite interesting.
When the judge saw Leng Yue, he was very surprised. "Why are you here again? Didn't we say that the underworld is overcrowded with ghosts and that you shouldn't come anymore?"
As the judge spoke, he went to look through the Book of Life and Death again, and with a stroke of his pen, sent Leng Yue back. As Leng Yue left, he vaguely heard the judge mutter, "One misfortune after another, looks like a jinx. Really, what's going on? Has the Star Lord of Fate been drinking again?"
The Star Lord of Destiny? Leng Yue wondered if the Star Lord of Destiny knew about the Space Management Headquarters. She also wondered who was more powerful between them. Thinking about it, Leng Yue was actually quite looking forward to a meeting between the two leaders. She just wondered if a meeting between these two groups would be like a clash of planets.
Perhaps to the Star Lord of Destiny, the Space Administrator is a heretic. And to the Space Administrator, the Star Lord of Destiny is superstitious? Thinking this to herself, Leng Yue found it even more interesting and anticipated.
Suddenly, the curtain swayed. Leng Yue saw a child's face appear on the curtain, floating above it and playing with it.
Leng Yue glanced at him but ignored him. She couldn't speak now, so what could she do? Anyway, the child was just swaying the curtain and hadn't done anything; she might as well pretend she didn't see anything!
The child was displeased. Seeing that Leng Yue remained silent, he spoke up, "Hey, can't you see me?"
Why aren't you saying anything?
"Is it because I can't see it? No, that's not right. If I can't see it, I'll be scared even if I see the curtain move, right?"
The child floated up to Leng Yue, waving his hand back and forth right under her nose. Leng Yue rolled her eyes at him but remained silent.
"I told you, you would definitely see it!" the little boy said with a smug smile.
"Are you scared? What a coward!"
"Hey, can we talk? If not, just say something."
Seeing that Leng Yue ignored him, the little boy ran to Leng Yue's bed and started jumping around, making the bed creak. Leng Yue got angry and sat up abruptly, glaring at the little boy.
The little boy was startled. "What are you doing? You scared me to death! Oh, right, I'm already dead."
The little boy thought for a moment and then said, "You scared me to death!"
Why aren't you saying anything?
Are you mute?
"Oh, so you're mute? No wonder you haven't said a word."
"What a pity, you're quite good-looking, but you're mute?"
The little boy kept chattering away, which annoyed Leng Yue so much that she said two words, "Shut up!" Although there was no sound, Leng Yue knew that the little boy understood.
Sure enough, the little boy understood, because he quickly answered "No".
Leng Yue could only pull the covers over her head and go to sleep. She couldn't curse him, and he had no talismans or magical artifacts. She couldn't afford to offend him, so she could only hideāno, she would endure it!
