Chapter 228 The Runaway Bride (11)

He Wan was quickly taken away, and the farce came to an end.

"He can protect Miss, right?" Leng Mingde murmured, watching the departing sedan chair.

"Yes, you must trust your son-in-law. But sir, you should greet the guests." The butler bowed and reminded him. Today, the Leng mansion was hosting a grand banquet, and all the prominent figures from Heyuan were present. How could Leng Mingde, as the host, not greet them?

Leng Mingde glanced again at the wedding procession as it walked away, reluctantly turning his gaze away. He took a deep breath. "Let's go, let's greet the guests."

………………………………

Leng Yue and Qian Chen hadn't gone far when they got into a car. Qian Chen and Leng Yue sat in the back, and he magically produced a lot of food. "Are you hungry? Here's some porridge and pastries. Have something to tide you over."

Leng Yue had already taken off her veil and sat behind Qian Chen, just grinning foolishly without taking anything or saying a word.

Qianchen asked helplessly, "What's wrong?"

Leng Yue clung to Qian Chen's arm, "You're getting more and more handsome! I wasn't originally a fan of military uniforms, but ever since I saw you in one, I've suddenly become one!"

This was the first time Leng Yue had seen Qian Chen in military uniform. It wasn't just his good looks; it was the steely, resolute air of a soldier. Leng Yue couldn't help but blush and her heart pounded!

"Oh no, oh no," Leng Yue said, covering her burning cheeks. "So embarrassing."

Qianchen chuckled and put the pastries and porridge in her hand aside. "What? It's only been a short time since we last met, and you've already learned to be shy?"

Leng Yue buried her head in Qian Chen's arms and punched his chest with her little fists. "You're the one who's shy. How could I be shy?"

"Alright, alright, my little princess." Qianchen grabbed Lengyue's hand. "These little hands are quite strong now! Did you take some kind of superhuman strength pill or something?"

The soldier driving in the front seat was speechless. What on earth were these two talking about? Why did this young marshal and his wife seem so idiotic?

He stole a glance at the young marshal and the woman, only to be caught red-handed by Qian Chen. "Ahem, drive carefully, don't look around!"

"Give it to me, I want to drink porridge!" Leng Yue commanded Qian Chen in a coquettish voice.

Qianchen resigned himself to serving Lengyue, handing her things and taking them back. He was the epitome of a devoted husband! He did this hundreds of times without getting angry or complaining. He always wore a smile, a doting smile.

The soldier was going crazy! Was this still the ruthless warlord he knew? Who had ever seen such a good-tempered young marshal?

Suddenly the car jolted because a large pothole suddenly appeared on the road, which the soldier failed to see.

"Yang Liu," Qian Chen called out Xiao Bing's name unhappily when he saw Leng Yue covered in pastries.

The soldier named Yang Liu instinctively straightened up and shouted, "Here!"

"Drive carefully!" Qianchen replied unhappily as he wiped Leng Yue's mouth.

"Yes!" Yang Liu wiped away her sweat; she had almost been scared to death.

"I'm fine, don't worry." Leng Yue tugged at Qian Chen's sleeve.

"Want some more?" Qianchen asked Lengyue, holding the remaining half-bowl of congee with preserved egg and lean pork.

Leng Yue shook her head, "I don't want to eat anymore."

Qianchen didn't say anything, but lowered his head and drank it down in big gulps. He swallowed half a bowl of congee with preserved egg and lean pork in a few mouthfuls, while Lengyue watched him eat quietly from the side.

Yang Liu, standing in front, was completely speechless. The young marshal, no matter where he was, had never eaten other people's leftovers. Unexpectedly, he had eaten someone else's leftovers today.

Although this person was his wife, this was their first meeting. Oh well, it's not his business! This time, Yang Liu dared not let his mind wander. If he made another mistake, the young marshal would probably make him disappear on the spot.

"Have you finished eating?" Leng Yue took out a handkerchief and handed it to Qian Chen.

Qianchen took it, wiped it gently a few times, and then grabbed Leng Yue's hand as she handed it to her, "How long are you staying?"

“Always,” Leng Yue looked at Qian Chen, her eyes sparkling. “How come there’s a red mole here?”

Upon closer inspection, Leng Yue noticed that Qian Chen still had a red mole between his eyebrows. It was smaller than in the previous world, almost invisible unless you looked closely. However, it was a deep, bright red, like fresh blood.

"It's nothing, is it not pretty?" Qianchen touched his brow.

Leng Yue shook her head, "You look good no matter what, but I'm worried."

"Don't worry," this mark was left by Qianchen when he looked for Lengyue. It's not a red mole, but a manifestation of the trauma to his soul on his body.

But Qianchen didn't want to say it; he didn't want Lengyue to worry.

"Let's hold the wedding after we get back," Qianchen said, squeezing Lengyue's hand.

"Okay, either way is fine." Leng Yue looked at Qian Chen suspiciously. "We were going to have a wedding ceremony anyway, weren't we?"

"Yes, there's supposed to be a wedding ceremony, I forgot." Qianchen looked at Lengyue, "The wedding dress is beautiful, it suits you very well."

"But it's so tiring to put on, and it's such a hassle to put on. I definitely couldn't manage it myself," Leng Yue complained.

"Don't worry, someone will help you," Qianchen smiled. "But you're going to suffer; this road won't be easy."

"With you here, I'm not afraid." Leng Yue smiled sweetly, and Qian Chen smiled along with her.

"Young Marshal, the car in front has stopped." Yang Liu reported to Qian Chen when she saw that the car in front had stopped moving.

"Let's go down and take a look," Qianchen told Yangliu to get out of the car.

Yang Liu opened the car door and walked forward. "What's wrong? Why did you stop?"

The soldier in front pointed to the large rock ahead and said, "The road is blocked; we can't pass."

Yang Liu went forward to take a look and indeed found a huge rock wedged between the mountain walls, completely blocking the path. After examining it, Yang Liu went back to report to Qian Chen.

Qian Chen frowned. He turned to Leng Yue and said, "Wait here, I'll go check."

Leng Yue nodded, "Go ahead, I'll be fine."

"Jiang Nan, what's going on?" Jiang Nan was Qian Chen's adjutant, and he had accompanied Qian Chen to the wedding. They had been traveling in the same car before, but on the way back, because Leng Yue was there, they had split into two cars.

"Young Marshal, I suspect someone did this on purpose." Jiang Nan spoke to Qian Chen in a low voice. "When we came here, this rock wasn't here yet. There haven't been any earthquakes or heavy rains recently, so it's impossible for such a large rock to suddenly roll down. And it's stuck right there. It's too deliberate. So, someone must not want us to pass."

Qianchen glanced at the sky. "Can these stones be pushed aside? If not, let's move them back."

Jiang Nan shook his head. "Young Marshal, look, we're surrounded."

As Jiang Nan spoke, he handed the binoculars in his hand to Qian Chen. He had only been observing the surroundings because he found something suspicious, but he hadn't expected to discover the bandits behind him.

"What's wrong?" Leng Yue, dressed in her wedding gown, followed them down.

Qianchen put away the binoculars. "We're surrounded. We can't move forward or backward."

"I feel like I can push that rock aside." Leng Yue glanced at it and said that although it would be a bit difficult to push aside the other rocks, she was about 70% confident that she could do so.

Jiang Nan looked incredulous. "Young Madam, please stop joking. This is not the time for jokes."

“I’m telling the truth, do you believe me?” Leng Yue looked at Qian Chen. “Anyway, there’s no harm in trying.”

In her previous life, Leng Yue had undergone systematic training. Putting aside everything else, her ability to use minimal force to achieve maximum effect was more than enough for her.

"Won't I get hurt?" Qianchen wasn't disbelieving, but he didn't want to take the risk.

“I can protect myself,” Leng Yueren replied, and Qian Chen nodded in agreement.
