Because of the husky incident, Leng Yue and Qian Chen postponed their departure again.
The streets after 10 PM are truly a stage for all sorts of things to witness. Cinderella's miserable life continues daily, and Snow White's stepmother relentlessly persecutes her. And then there's Belle and the Beast, who are constantly engaged in their usual chase.
But once the clock strikes five in the afternoon, they change out of their costumes, transforming into humans or other races, and return home to end their hard day's work.
"What's the point of you repeating this day after day?" The more Leng Yue learned about this fairytale town, the less she could understand it.
The husky thought for a moment, "It doesn't really mean anything, but shouldn't we have something to do while we're alive?"
"Didn't you ever think about why your town mayor asked you to do this?" Leng Yue felt that things were definitely not as simple as Erha thought.
"Why do you need to think about it? Think about it, isn't this better than living a life of debauchery?" Erha didn't quite understand why Leng Yue insisted on figuring out the meaning of this matter. Aren't many things in this world inherently meaningless?
Leng Yue could tell that Erha wasn't really concerned about this issue, so she stopped worrying about it. "Never mind, whatever makes you happy."
Some people want to live in obscurity, while others want to live in agony. There's no inherent superiority or inferiority between the two; it's simply a matter of different choices.
The name of this fairytale town is dreamy, but with the same plot repeating itself endlessly, Leng Yue felt that this fairytale town was anything but fairytale-like. She didn't like this place, and she wanted to leave.
"Will you come back?" The husky's eyes showed reluctance. How to put it, in this world full of fairy tales, there is actually almost no interaction between people in reality.
After all, they come from normal human society. Even if a husky becomes a werewolf, it still retains human traits. For example, it likes to socialize and enjoy gatherings with friends. However, the people here don't do that. Suddenly encountering two people with whom it can chat and confide, only to have to part ways again after just a few days together.
"All good things must come to an end, Erha, take care." Qianchen patted Erha on the shoulder and turned to leave.
Over the past few days, they've also discovered this. Unless they travel through the town, even flying on their swords won't take them to the Eastern Continent. The only passage to the Eastern Continent is through Fairy Tale Town. And that entrance is located to the east of Fairy Tale Town. By simply crossing a small river east of the town, they can reach the Eastern Continent.
However, to cross that stream, one first needs the mayor's permission. Therefore, this seemingly small and informal town actually wields absolute power under its mayor.
"Have you thought this through? You really don't want to stay?" The mayor, holding a document stamped with an official seal, looked at Qian Chen and Leng Yue, repeatedly trying to persuade them to stay. "Our town is really nice. You really don't want to stay?"
"No, we have other things to do, so we can't accept your offer." Qianchen reached out to take the documents while declining.
But the mayor clung tightly to the document, gripping a corner tightly. "Are you really not going to reconsider? This place is really great!"
With a final effort, Qianchen pulled the file over. He grinned and said, "No need, no need."
After bidding farewell to the mayor, Leng Yue and Qian Chen flew to the riverbank on their swords. Little did they know that the mayor, having removed his outer robes, was now behaving in an extremely strange manner.
"Just this piece of paper is enough to get through? What's the use of this piece of paper?" Leng Yue looked at it and felt that it was just a simple piece of paper. There were no checkpoints here, so she really didn't know what it was for.
"Let's go, we'll find out as we go." Qianchen was more composed than Lengyue.
The stream was crystal clear, and the fish were clearly visible. Strangely, all sorts of fish, big and small, lived together without preying on each other. Leng Yue couldn't help but stop and watch. Wasn't this a food chain? Why was it so harmonious?
"Look, these big fish don't even eat the small fish!" Leng Yue pointed at Lian.
"Let's go. They're not eating because they're not hungry. Why are you becoming more and more like a child?" Qianchen reached out and pulled Lengyue up, putting his arm around her shoulder as they walked forward.
"It's hard for me to walk like this. Besides, we look like brothers." Leng Yue kept twisting and turning, trying to break free from Qian Chen's grip.
"If I don't do this, I might leave you in the river. I'm worried about you. You can walk by yourself after we cross the river." Qianchen tightened his grip on Leng Yue's arm, holding her tightly.
"Are you really planning to wade across? Can't we fly across on our swords?" Leng Yue looked around and indeed there was no bridge.
This little river is really cleverly designed. It's not too wide, not too narrow. It's just the right width—you just can't jump across it!
"Look here, there's no way we can fly across!" Qianchen pointed to the terms on the document, which stated that the river had no buoyancy and the only way to cross it was to wade.
"Who designed this? It's so perverted!" Leng Yue complained as she followed Qian Chen into the river.
As soon as the two entered the river, the water changed. The river transformed into a place resembling a subway gate, with a gate in the middle blocking their way.
Qianchen looked at it, matched the seal on the document, and sure enough, the sluice gate opened, and they successfully crossed the river.
"The designer of this must have seen the subway before." After Leng Yue passed by, she looked back at the vanished turnstiles and couldn't help but complain.
“That’s possible. The subway was designed by them.” Qianchen smiled. “You’ve forgotten, this is a place where you can be reborn.”
Leng Yue wholeheartedly agreed, "You're right, it's quite possible. We might even get to meet!"
After crossing the river, there is a forest. To reach each other's towns, they must cross the forest.
"Can we fly on swords here?" Leng Yue looked at the vast forest opposite and couldn't help but ask Qian Chen to take another look at the instruction manual, no, the walkthrough file.
Qian Chen glanced at it and shook his head again, "The use of flying machines is prohibited in the Eastern Continent."
"Aircraft? Ours doesn't count, does it?" Leng Yue tried to find a loophole.
"No, they even made a note, including a witch's broom, a magician's flying carpet, and all sorts of aerial transportation." Qianchen looked at the smaller print and felt helpless.
"So complete!" Leng Yue asked, unwilling to give up. "What would happen if we violated the rules?"
"Expelled from the Eastern Continent." The punishment was simple, and Qianchen read it out crisply.
"It's not worth being kicked out before I've even seen it. Forget it, let's go." Leng Yue was completely disheartened, even though she still had ambitions for the Eastern Continent. When you're under someone's roof, you have to bow your head.
When the day comes that she leaves and never comes back, Leng Yue decides that she will fly on her sword in front of everyone!
The forest was vast, and Leng Yue, who hadn't walked on two legs in a long time, only walked for half a day before giving up. She lay on the ground, pouting, leaning against a tree trunk and refusing to move.
"What? Is the fairy tired?" Qianchen squatted down in front of her and looked at her.
"Do fairies need to walk?" Leng Yue was angry. She was a fairy, yet she was asked to walk. This was simply too much!
