Chapter 97 Seeing the World Through Ghostly Eyes (5)

Leng Yue waited until both her parents were asleep before sneaking out of the house.

Tang Liangfeng wasn't a relative or friend of the Leng family, so Leng Yue could only burn paper money by the roadside. This method, of course, was suggested by Tang Liangfeng.

As Leng Yue traveled, she encountered lurking ghosts and spirits in every dark corner. Fortunately, she carried a talisman to ward off evil, and her journey was fraught with danger but ultimately safe.

Upon reaching a secluded section of the road, Leng Yue stopped and looked at Tang Liangfeng. "Is this alright?"

Tang Liangfeng nodded, "You draw a circle for me to prove that the money belongs to someone. Then you call my name, and I can take the money."

Leng Yue did as she was told. First, she drew a circle, then she took out paper money and burned it. While burning it, she kept chanting, "Tang Liangfeng is here to collect the money..."

Perhaps because there were too many wandering spirits, the burning of paper money by Leng Yue quickly attracted a large number of spirits who surrounded her. More precisely, they formed a circle around her, and some of the bolder ones even tried to snatch the money. However, because Leng Yue had drawn a circle beforehand, they didn't manage to grab any. Only those that flew outside the circle were scrambled for by the spirits.

Tang Liangfeng pushed aside the group of spirits, reached out and took out the money, "Thank you, Miss Leng, the money is in my hands."

Hearing Tang Liangfeng's thanks, Leng Yue was displeased. Instead, she frowned and looked around at the surrounding spirits. Sure enough, some spirits had already given up on robbing her and were now staring at her instead.

Tang Liangfeng had mentioned before that Leng Yue's body magnetic field made her easily attract spirits. Therefore, before leaving home, she specifically spent 500 points to exchange for a shield. As a result, these spirits hadn't noticed her before.

However, Tang Liangfeng's words immediately drew the attention of some of the spirits to her. At this point, if Leng Yue still didn't realize Tang Liangfeng was doing it on purpose, she would be hopelessly stupid!

Seeing that the spirits' attention was all on her, Leng Yue wasn't in a hurry, and she pretended not to know anything. Only after burning the last piece of paper money did Leng Yue look at the ashes and say, "Old Tang, you were poor when you were alive, so spend more now that you're dead. Sigh, I wonder if you'll really receive it?"

Leng Yue rambled on and on, ignoring all of Tang Liangfeng's replies. She continued talking to herself, then left without saying a word to Tang Liangfeng.

Seeing Leng Yue like this, the surrounding spirits knew she had no special abilities and couldn't see them. Since Tang Liangfeng carried a large sum of money, they all turned their attention back to him.

"You're a new ghost, aren't you?" A scarred male ghost grabbed Tang Liangfeng by the collar. "Hand over the money. You don't want to suffer, do you?"

"Kid! Did you hear what our boss said? Hand it over!" A tall, thin ghost chimed in.

Tang Liangfeng certainly didn't want to hand it over; this was money he had gone to great lengths to get Leng Yue to burn for him. "Why should I? This is money for me!"

"Why should we? Hahaha, brothers, this kid is asking us why we should we?" The tall, thin man laughed exaggeratedly, and the spirits behind him laughed along with him.

"Of course, it's because our fists are stronger!" the tall, thin man said, kicking Tang Liangfeng to the ground, while the scarred man just watched coldly.

Leng Yue hadn't gone far yet, and she could hear everything that was happening behind her, but she didn't intend to pay any attention to it.

They say you can't judge a book by its cover, and that's exactly what happened to Tang Liangfeng. He looked righteous, but it turned out he was a scoundrel.

He had previously tried to scare the original owner of the body and coerce her into doing things for him. Later, when Leng Yue burned paper money for him, he saw that there were spirits surrounding him and was afraid that he would not be able to keep this large fortune. So he tried to divert the trouble by drawing the spirits' attention to her.

Putting everything else aside, just for these two points alone, Leng Yue will never have anything to do with such a person again—no, such a ghost.

"Should we just ignore him?" Ling asked Leng Yue when she saw Tang Liangfeng being robbed.

Leng Yue snorted coldly, "Not killing him outright is already being lenient with him. I'm not that saintly!"

Although Zero didn't quite understand what had happened, it knew from Leng Yue's anger that Tang Liangfeng must have done something unforgivable.

It was almost midnight when Leng Yue got home. Because it was very cold, she immediately took a hot shower and quickly crawled into bed to sleep.

"Yueyue, there's something I forgot to tell you." After Guan waited, Leng suddenly appeared again.

"What is it?" Leng Yue asked lazily, lying comfortably in bed.

"Your manuscript is due tomorrow," Zero reminded him.

"What do you mean by submitting a manuscript?" Leng Yue didn't understand.

"The deadline for the translated manuscript is tomorrow," Zero explained in detail. "It's the 10th manuscript in the translation folder on the desktop."

Leng Yue also thought of it, "Should we send it to them at 10 a.m. tomorrow?"

"Hmm," Zero replied.

"The particularly difficult one?" Leng Yue remembered. She had opened it once before, but found it too difficult and gave up.

“Yes,” Zero replied.

"Can you help me?" Leng Yue wanted to just throw the question at Ling.

"No way." Zero refused without hesitation. "I can't understand such difficult-to-understand human emotions."

Leng Yue was speechless. "Is there anything you can't understand? You're too modest!"

"Would you like to submit a translated article online?" Zero doesn't refuse, but it can't guarantee the quality.

Leng Yue wailed, "Kill me! My god, what kind of mess is this?"

Despite her lamentations, Leng Yue still managed to get up from her warm bed and resignedly went to work.

"Can you provide assistance?" Leng Yue asked.

“That’s a good idea,” Ling replied with a grin. “Yueyue, feel free to ask me any words you don’t know.”

"Thank you," Leng Yue replied with a bitter expression.

This English manuscript is a play, and it uses a lot of uncommon words. Some of the words are even difficult for Leng Yue to pronounce.

Moreover, translation requires considering the context and faithfully reproducing the emotions the play intends to convey. It's said that there are a thousand Hamlets in a thousand readers' eyes; how is it possible to translate something so close to the original author's thoughts in a short time?

The original owner hadn't translated this piece before because it was very difficult. Now that it's been handed to Leng Yue, Leng Yue says she's even more overwhelmed!

"Why is it so difficult? How could she possibly receive such a difficult manuscript?" Leng Yue complained as she painstakingly translated each word.

Ling was somewhat speechless. While looking up the meaning of the words, she chatted with Leng Yue, "I'm not the original owner of this body, and I don't have her memories, so how would I know!"

"Oh dear, how should this word be translated better here? Really..." Leng Yue became more and more frustrated as she translated. Ling had provided the meaning of each word, but no matter how she used them, it felt like she was just piecing them together. It was like translating classical Chinese poetry into English; it never felt beautiful enough, and it didn't capture the desired mood.

"Is it really that difficult?" Ling felt sorry for Leng Yue as she kept pulling at her hair. "Why don't you rest first and translate it tomorrow?"

"Forget it, let's translate first, there's not much time left." Leng Yue said, throwing herself back into her work. She refused to believe that she, a living person, could not overcome a bunch of words by sheer willpower.
