Just as Leng Yue and the others arrived at the altar, a dark shadow flew over from a distance. Then came a loud "boom," and the shadow fell to the ground.
"Was that a person just now?" Qian Chen stopped flying his sword, and Leng Yue jumped down from his arms.
"Let's go take a look," Qianchen jumped off the flying sword, followed closely by Diewu.
"It's the elder who drove us away before." Looking into the distance, Leng Yue saw that the person lying on the snow was someone she had seen before.
"He'll get burned by the sun sooner or later if he keeps doing this." Elder Qianchen was steaming, looking like he would die soon.
"Let's save him. After all, we would all be dead if it weren't for him." Leng Yue said, taking out a black umbrella from her Qiankun bag and walking over to hold it up above the Grand Elder.
The moment Leng Yue opened the umbrella, the Grand Elder opened his eyes. His previously silvery-gray eyes had turned grayish-white, but that didn't stop him from recognizing the person who had entered.
"It's you guys. Why didn't you leave?" the elder said, struggling to sit up from the ground.
The Grand Elder tried several times but failed. Finally, Qian Chen took the initiative to push him, and at the same moment Qian Chen reached out, Die Wu also reached out her hand, seemingly trying to stop Qian Chen.
"Thank you," the Grand Elder turned to look at Qian Chen, "You should leave here, things are about to get chaotic..." The Grand Elder seemed very weak, and had to stop after saying only a few words.
"What do you mean? What happened?" Leng Yue crouched down, looking at the Grand Elder. "What exactly is the God of Darkness?"
The Grand Elder looked at Leng Yue and said, "What God of Darkness? We've all been deceived. It's all been one person's selfish desires!"
"Who is this person's selfish desire? What should we do?" Leng Yue felt that if even the Grand Elder couldn't deal with him, they certainly wouldn't stand a chance.
"Stop the blood sacrifice before the blood moon." After the Grand Elder finished speaking, his gray eyes turned black, and he looked more and more like a normal person.
"I'm dying. You must all remember, only by stopping the blood sacrifice can you stop that person." The Grand Elder's eyelids began to droop, his hair turned white, and his face became covered with wrinkles. "You...it all depends on you..."
After the elder finished speaking, he turned into a speck of light, and when the wind blew, he disappeared.
Leng Yue looked at Qian Chen, "What should we do? Should we still go?"
“Go ahead. If we don’t try, we might never have peace of mind for the rest of our lives.” Qianchen understood Leng Yue, and he understood himself. Leng Yue was a sensitive and kind person, and he was the only one who cared about Leng Yue.
They were standing right in front of the cathedral, a tall, white building with its doors tightly shut. A huge cross adorned the roof. Who would believe that this place had become a site of vampire sacrifices?
They pushed open the heavy door, which creaked open with a dull thud. The church was eerily quiet. It was Sunday, but no one had come to worship, and there was no pastor present.
Although it was daytime, the church was still gloomy and didn't feel like a place where God had ever stayed.
"Where is the altar?" They searched the entire church but couldn't find it. Leng Yue found it strange; was there somewhere they didn't know about?
"Could there be a basement?" Qianchen wondered. Many people like to do bad things in basements, so maybe there is one in this church too?
Leng Yue nodded, and the group split up to search again. It was already midnight, and the blood moon and full moon were only ten hours away; they really didn't have much time left.
However, an hour passed and they found nothing. During this time, they searched very carefully, looking through every possible and suspicious place.
"No, could we be mistaken?" Qianchen was also at a loss. "Where did the elder fly out from? Did he really come from inside this church?"
"It's from the church side, but I didn't see it specifically." Because it happened so suddenly, Leng Yue didn't notice the exact direction from which the Grand Elder flew out.
"Where did the other vampires go? Where do they hide during the day?" Qianchen decided to stop worrying about the location of the altar and look in a different direction.
However, there was neither a coffin nor a wardrobe in the church, and there was still no progress.
“I remember Lily saying that vampires can transform into human form. They can turn into tiny things and hide. Do you think they could turn into something and hide in places we don’t look for?” Lily used to always tell Leng Yue what she knew, and now that I think about it, it was still somewhat useful.
“The places we weren’t paying attention to,” Qianchen said, placing one hand on his chest and stroking his chin with the other, “we seemed to have been looking down there the whole time, but not up there, right?”
Leng Yue suddenly realized that they had been searching the basement the whole time and hadn't looked up at all. "It's very dark here, it doesn't look like a church at all, does it?"
Qianchen understood Lengyue's meaning, and with a leap, he pulled open all the heavy curtains in the church.
A flurry of vampire bats flew out from behind the curtains, but quickly disappeared behind the church pews.
"They really transformed!" Leng Yue looked at the vampire bats from before; each one had blood-red eyes and knew to quickly hide in a dark place, showing no panic whatsoever. This was completely unlike the behavior of ordinary bats!
"Samadhi Fire! Burn!" Leng Yue threw out a talisman, setting the chair ablaze.
The wooden chairs quickly caught fire, and vampire bats flew out, circling inside the church. Some accidentally flew into the sunlight, but they were no match for the Grand Elder's power, and in a few moments they turned into wisps of white smoke.
Gradually, more and more vampire bats turned into white smoke, and one of them, a bat with two horns, came to Leng Yue.
The long-horned bat transformed into human form; it was Edward. "You'd better leave, or I won't be polite."
Edward looked furious; his eyes had turned a violet color. He stood in the sunlight, completely unaffected.
"We're not leaving, and you can't summon any god of darkness. We're taking Mei Bao home. Her mother is still waiting for her there!" Leng Yue said, but in her heart she was trying to recall if Lily had ever shown her anything about a vampire with purple eyes who wasn't afraid of sunlight.
After thinking about it for a while, I actually remembered some things. Lily said that the first few generations of vampires weren't afraid of sunlight, and they were unimaginably powerful. Purple eyes are the noble color among vampires, so if you encounter such a vampire, it's best to run away first; if you're lucky, you might escape.
As for fighting, don't even think about it; there's simply no chance of winning!
"What a nuisance!" Edward scoffed, flicking his finger lightly, and Leng Yue felt her body fly up uncontrollably.
Fortunately, Qianchen reacted quickly and grabbed Lengyue. The two of them used a powerful downward pull to barely maintain their balance.
"If I wasn't afraid you'd destroy my house, would you still be here?" Edward wasn't in a hurry. "But this is the first time I've seen blood hunters like you. Since we have nothing else to do, I'll play with you for a bit!"
