Chapter 62 The 1980s (14)

Ye Qian led Leng Yue into the room, and after closing the door, the air suddenly became quiet.

Leng Yue looked at Ye Qian nervously, hesitant to speak.

"Ask whatever you want." Ye Qian's voice was weary and soft, completely lacking its usual vigor.

"Why did you change your name?" Leng Yue looked at Ye Qian with pleading eyes. She wanted to question him about why he had gone back on his word, but when she spoke, her tone was full of grievance.

Ye Qian felt helpless and wanted to reach out and pat Leng Yue's head, but she dodged him in a huff. Ye Qian withdrew his hand and stared intently at Leng Yue.

"I'm being watched. I can't mention the past, I can't even think about it," Ye Qian said, rubbing his temples involuntarily. Earlier, when Leng Yue mentioned Qianchen Pavilion, Ye Qian uncontrollably recalled his past life, causing a splitting headache.

Upon hearing this, Leng Yue understood the reason and stopped mentioning it. "Who was it?"

Ye Qian shook his head. "It could be the place you came from, or it could be the underworld. Maybe this is God's punishment for someone like me. After all, everything comes at a price."

Leng Yue pursed her lips, "You don't want this to happen, so why should I..."

"Yueyue..." Ye Qian still looked helpless. "Don't act impulsively. I'm content with this. I've said it before, as long as I can be with you, I don't care about anything..."

Suddenly Ye Qian groaned softly, his forehead covered in large beads of sweat. He looked to be in great pain, and kept hitting his head with his hands.

Leng Yue panicked, "What happened? Ye Qian, what's wrong with you?"

Leng Yue didn't know how to help Ye Qian, so she rushed into the bathroom and applied a large, wet towel to his head. The towel was soaked, and Leng Yue tried to wring it out, but her hands were shaking so badly she couldn't control them.

"How could you be so clumsy!" Leng Yue slapped her hands hard, finally managing to wring the towel until it was no longer dripping wet, and then began to wipe Ye Qian.

Leng Yue moved very gently, afraid of causing Ye Qian any further pain. Seeing Ye Qian's suffering, Leng Yue felt a pang of sorrow. Her eyes were terribly red, tears welling up in them, but she bit her lip to keep them from falling.

Leng Yue has a problem: whenever she cries, her nose gets runny and she has trouble breathing. But Leng Yue doesn't dare to make a sound, so she breathes softly through her mouth.

In truth, Leng Yue didn't like to cry. Having grown up in an orphanage, she knew all along that the world didn't believe in tears, and that crying solved nothing. However, ever since meeting Qian Chen, Leng Yue had become prone to tears. It was as if she wanted to cry out all the tears she had missed before, just for Qian Chen to see!

Suddenly, Ye Qian grabbed Leng Yue's hand. "Yueyue, don't cry, rub it for me."

"Who's crying!" Leng Yue turned her head away, but gently massaged Ye Qian's temples with her hands.

Ye Qian didn't speak, but took Leng Yue's hands in his own. "Yueyue, look at me."

Leng Yue didn't want Ye Qian to see her in such an embarrassing state, so she kept twisting her neck.

"Yueyue...be good." Ye Qian's voice was weak but firm.

Leng Yue reluctantly turned her head to meet Ye Qian's gaze, but her eyes kept darting away as if she was making a final struggle.

"Are you... feeling better?" Leng Yue's voice was nasal and mumbled, as if she had a cold.

"I'm fine. Actually, I've gotten used to it over the years. My Yueyue is so wonderful, how can I not think about her?" Ye Qian smiled roguishly, just like when he teased Leng Yue before. But his pale face could no longer support his arrogant and unrestrained demeanor.

As Leng Yue watched, tears welled up in her eyes. "Are you a child? Can't you hold back your tears? If I had known you would be in so much pain, we shouldn't have acknowledged each other..."

Tears streamed down Leng Yue's face, and Ye Qian was at a loss. "Don't cry, don't cry, I'm happy to accept it."

"But I don't want to, I don't want you to get hurt because of me." Leng Yue didn't know why she suddenly became so sentimental, but she just couldn't help it.

Ye Qian had no choice but to hold Leng Yue in his arms as before, gently patting and coaxing her like a child.

"It's alright, it's all in the past. I only need to reminisce when you're not around; when you are, I only need to think of you. Silly girl, you're my medicine!" Ye Qian sighed, resting his chin on Leng Yue's head. In that instant, he felt fulfilled.

Leng Yue obediently pressed her face against Ye Qian's chest, and her heart suddenly skipped a beat upon hearing his gentle words. Was she his medicine? Was that it? Then what was he to her?

Leng Yue raised her head and looked at Ye Qian seriously, her eyes filled with confusion.

"What's wrong?" Ye Qian asked softly, his hands resting on Leng Yue's shoulders.

Leng Yue shook her head, touched Ye Qian's cheek, and before he could react, she snuggled into his arms again. Ye Qian was stunned for a moment, then smiled foolishly.

Ye Qian knew that Leng Yue was changing. It was really not easy to make someone so inexperienced in love understand! Ye Qian thought to himself, and hugged Leng Yue a little tighter, but Leng Yue squirmed in dissatisfaction, though her movements were very gentle.

"It's too tight, I'm being strangled." Seeing that Ye Qian wouldn't let go, Leng Yue didn't dare to use too much force and could only protest softly.

"Hehe, she really is a child." Ye Qian chuckled softly, the vibration of his chest making Leng Yue's cheeks tickle.

"What are you laughing at? Let go!" Leng Yue protested, pouting. "If you don't let go, I'll use force?"

With Leng Yue posing no threat whatsoever, Ye Qian easily freed his hands.

"You said you opened a tailor shop with that name?" Ye Qian asked while fixing Leng Yue's hair.

"Don't... you'll feel unwell again later." Leng Yue was still shaken and dared not mention it again.

"It's okay, just don't think about it." Ye Qian smiled. "Don't be afraid, everything will be alright."

Leng Yue shook her head, then nodded, "Because I want to make money, and I want to find you as soon as possible."

Ye Qian smiled again, "Did you make any money?"

"It's alright, enough to get by." Leng Yue nodded, then suddenly remembered something, "How did you end up here?"

“Teacher Song is my teacher, and I’m here to help him. I’ll be leaving once Teacher Song recovers.” What Ye Qian didn’t say was that he had come to help because Teacher Song had inadvertently mentioned Leng Yue’s name.

"Are you feeling better?" Leng Yue asked, noticing that Ye Qian's complexion was starting to return to normal.

Ye Qian was taken aback, then nodded. "Yeah, much better." But as he said this, a hint of displeasure crossed his face. "Why didn't you ask me when I was leaving? And where I was going?"

Leng Yue was puzzled. "Why do you ask? I'll go wherever you go."

Ye Qian was stunned. "So much freedom?"

Leng Yue understood Ye Qian's meaning: "There are problems at home. This time there's no purpose, so you can settle here."

After Leng Yue finished speaking, she looked at Ye Qian, wondering if he had understood.

Ye Qian was overjoyed when he realized what was happening. "Really? Yueyue, that's wonderful! That's wonderful!"

"So happy?" Leng Yue was also infected by the joy and laughed along.

Ye Qian gave Leng Yue a big hug, his heart brimming with joy, and he smiled like a fool.
