Chapter 56 The 1980s (8)

"Yueyue?" Xie Juruo led a young woman in a white dress into Qianchen Pavilion. Surprisingly, the woman was wearing red high heels, had her eyebrows drawn and lipstick applied, and her hair flowed smoothly down her back—completely different from everyone else. All the young women and wives here wore long braids. This kind of attire was truly rare.

Leng Yue put down her pen and paper and stood up. "Sister Ju Ruo is here. Come in quickly. I'm drawing in here!"

"Are these our customers for today?" Leng Yue was used to it; all her customers were referrals from acquaintances since the store opened. Among them, He Cuihua and Xie Juruo were the most frequent referrals.

“That’s right,” Xie Ju smiled gently and introduced, “This is Teacher Zhang, she teaches at No. 1 Middle School and is also a regular customer of our restaurant. She saw that my dress was pretty and wanted to make one for herself, so I brought her here.”

"This is Leng Yue, the owner of Qianchen Pavilion. Don't let her young age fool you; her designs are incredibly beautiful." Xie Juruo turned around and introduced her to Teacher Zhang.

Leng Yue smiled and said, "Hello, Teacher Zhang. I am Leng Yue. You can call me Yueyue, just like Sister Ju Ruo."

"Oh my, Yueyue, you're not an adult yet, are you? You look so young!" Teacher Zhang looked at Leng Yue with some surprise.

"Come in, everyone, let's not stand here talking. The sun is scorching! Come on in and see if there's anything you like!" Leng Yue smiled and led them into the small living room.

Xie Juruo and Teacher Zhang sat on a small sofa, and Leng Yue brought them tea and melon seeds. Then, she brought Teacher Zhang a large sketchbook. Teacher Zhang took it, looking at Xie Juruo with a puzzled expression, but Xie Juruo only smiled and remained silent.

"What does this mean?" Teacher Zhang looked at the sketchbook in her hand, puzzled.

"You'll know once you try it," Xie Juruo said, keeping everyone in suspense.

Teacher Zhang opened it with some skepticism, only to find it filled with portraits of people, each wearing a different style of clothing.

"Is this what the clothes look like?" Teacher Zhang was increasingly pleasantly surprised as she looked at them. "You guys are so thoughtful!"

"Teacher Zhang, take a look and see what you like. We can discuss the color and fabric later. Once we've agreed on a price, I'll give you a quote." Leng Yue and Xie Juruo exchanged a glance and explained with smiles.

Teacher Zhang flipped through the entire picture book. "I like this one, I like this one too, and I like this one too! What should I do? I like them all!"

Seeing pretty clothes makes it hard to walk away; this is probably a woman's nature. Leng Yue and Xie Juruo exchanged a smile.

Xie Juruo said softly from the side, "Teacher Zhang, it's alright, take your time choosing."

“Yes, yes, Teacher Zhang, please take your time choosing.” Leng Yue said, and sat down quietly with Xie Juruo to drink tea.

After waiting for about thirty minutes, Teacher Zhang finally looked up from the picture book, and said in a tone of reluctant reluctance, "I'll take this one."

Afterwards, Leng Yue spent another forty minutes taking measurements with Teacher Zhang, deciding on the fabric color, and specifying a pickup time. Leng Yue also mentioned that because of a referral, she could get a 20% discount. When Teacher Zhang left, she was all smiles, saying she would definitely come back to have clothes made next month after receiving her salary.

Xie Juruo didn't stay long and left with Teacher Zhang.

On the way back, Teacher Zhang asked curiously, "Boss Xie, do you think Leng Yue, that girl, is from a big city?"

"How so?" Xie Juru smiled and looked at Teacher Zhang.

“Those who know so much must be from big cities! Let me tell you, when I was studying in the provincial capital, I saw similar books, specifically for helping people choose styles. But I haven’t seen them even once since I came back to the county!” Teacher Zhang said with a nostalgic look on her face.

Xie Ju smiled with a hint of pride, "Yueyue must have learned it from watching TV. That girl is so clever!"

"And what about the painting? Did she paint that herself?" Teacher Zhang asked again.

“That’s right,” Xie Juruo said, as if she had opened a floodgate of words. “Let me tell you, don’t let her primary school education fool you, she knows a lot of things every month!”

"This is all from her own heart, it's not something you can learn just by studying! Let me tell you, I have several relatives whose children have even studied painting at school, but they still can't draw even half as well as Yueyue!" Xie Juruo said with a smile, completely different from her usual self.

Teacher Zhang became more and more surprised as she listened. "So their family is a scholarly family? Did they get into that environment from a young age?"

“What kind of scholarly family is that? That child’s family is extremely pitiful. Her parents died early, leaving only her and her younger brother to depend on each other. They were raised on the charity of many families in the village.” Xie Juruo sighed as she spoke, feeling saddened by what Li Guilan had said about the life of Leng Yue and her brother.

"That's a good prospect! It would be a shame if he didn't get an education." Perhaps any teacher, no matter how young, would want all children to have access to education and to receive a good education.

"Sigh, there's nothing we can do. She has a younger brother to support, and she can't rely on others for the rest of her life!" Xie Juruo shook her head and sighed.

"Don't be so sad. Gold always shines! Look at that child, she manages a tailor shop so well!" Teacher Zhang comforted Xie Juruo.

Xie Juruo smiled again, "That's right, gold shines wherever it is, I believe in Yueyue! By the way, Teacher Zhang, if possible, please introduce more acquaintances over there!"

"Isn't that obvious! Boss Xie, let me tell you, when I wear my new dress to work, do you think my colleagues will go? Let me tell you, that's called advertising, that's called promotion!"

Xie Juruo laughed out loud when she heard this, "Teacher Zhang is truly worthy of being a teacher; he speaks in a way that is different from us."

"Haha, of course! Now that I'm a teacher, how can I keep my students in line if I don't know how to reason with them?" Teacher Zhang said without any modesty.

The two women chatted and laughed, while Leng Yue was busy. No sooner had they left than new customers arrived at Qianchen Pavilion, this time to have children's clothing made by Leng Yue.

I heard they came here because they saw Leng Xiaoyu's clothes. By the way, Leng Xiaoyu has already been sent to daycare by Leng Yue.

Leng Yue was worried about leaving Leng Xiaoyu alone in the village. Although Leng Dazhu and Li Guilan said they would help take care of her, Leng Yue was still uneasy. But staying in the shop wasn't a good idea either, so she found the nearest daycare center and put Leng Xiaoyu there.

Before sending Leng Xiaoyu to daycare, Leng Yue threw away all of Leng Xiaoyu's old clothes and made several new outfits, all of them cute and handsome. Now, Leng Xiaoyu is almost the most stylish kid in the whole daycare, if not the most dazzling one!

With Leng Yue's careful nurturing over this period, Leng Xiaoyu is not only growing more and more like a traditional Chinese New Year picture doll, but his sweet talk is also as sweet as honey. He is deeply loved by his teachers and classmates at the nursery! Leng Yue just didn't expect that this popularity would bring her business.

Sure enough, three parents came today, all bringing their children to have clothes made. The younger children were having a great time playing with Leng Xiaoyu, while Leng Yue was discussing business with the parents.

"Haohao's mom, Xinxin's mom, Zidong's mom, what kind of styles do you want? Would you like to come in and choose?" Leng Yue said, taking out the catalog and placing it on the table.

Several parents chose the styles they wanted, paid their deposits, and left. Because Leng Yue had given them discounts, they were all very satisfied.

After the group left, Leng Yue finally breathed a sigh of relief. She had been both a receptionist and a sales assistant all day. Exhausted, Leng Yue collapsed onto the sofa, not wanting to move at all.
