Chapter 95 Seeing the World Through Ghostly Eyes (3)

"It hasn't even been a week yet, are you really okay?" The next morning, Leng's mother came to pick Leng Yue up and take her home, but Leng's father was still a little worried.

"The doctor said everything's fine, what? You don't even believe what the doctor says?" Mrs. Leng retorted to Mr. Leng in an annoyed tone.

Leng Yue didn't say anything, but cheerfully carried her things back to her bedroom.

The original owner's parents were actually very kind and harmonious people. If it weren't for the original owner's ghost eyes, the Leng family would have been quite happy overall. Leng's father was a high school teacher who had just retired this year. Now, he spends his days drinking tea, reading newspapers, and watching the news. Or he goes out to play chess and chat with people; he's generally quite content.

Leng's mother works at the neighborhood committee and is actually of retirement age. But she can't stay idle and still goes out to help out. Both Leng's father and mother receive pensions, which amount to a considerable sum each month. They can't guarantee anything else, but it's enough for their retirement.

Leng Kang is a programmer with a decent salary, though the work is quite demanding. His wife, Zhao Ya, is his college classmate and works as a developer at another company, earning a very good salary as well.

The couple has a decent annual income, owns a house and a car, and has a son named Leng Zihao, who is seven years old and in elementary school. When the couple is busy, he is usually taken care of by his grandparents.

The original owner of this body was in a worse situation because she had to go to the hospital frequently and had a history of mental illness. Therefore, she could only work from home. Fortunately, she majored in foreign languages, so she could take on online translation jobs for clients. The money she earned was enough to cover her expenses, which was quite good.

"Leng Kang doesn't have any elderly parents or young children to support. The information is too exaggerated!" Leng Yue complained to Ling while lying on the bed.

Zero was also puzzled. "Yeah, you see, their family is actually doing very well, so why do they say they're so pitiful? In my opinion, Leng Kang really doesn't need to go abroad for double the salary."

"Exactly, the child is getting older and older, doesn't he think about spending more time with him?" Leng Yue couldn't understand. If he didn't have the pressure she imagined, he must be prioritizing his family, right? She really couldn't understand it!

Seeing is believing, and before coming here, Leng Yue had imagined the Leng family to be struggling immensely, and Leng Kang to be working incredibly hard. But upon arrival, she learned that Leng Kang's children were being cared for by grandparents, the couple owned a fully paid-off house, and each had a car. Their salaries were decent, and they managed to save hundreds of thousands of yuan annually. So, what was so difficult about their life?

Furthermore, regarding the original owner of this body, she paid for all her own hospital visits. The information also states that Leng Kang covered the family's expenses, which seems illogical.

"Do you think this data clerk is blind, or did the original owner of this body make up a novel out of sheer stupidity?" Leng Yue flipped through the all-English classic in her hand, not reading a single word.

"Hmm, it's probably just something the data clerk imagined." Zero really thought that was quite possible, otherwise why were there so many plot errors lately?

Thankfully, Leng Yue can now accept the original owner's memories, otherwise it would have been a real joke. The entire plot is wrong! Are you kidding me?

“How about this, Zero,” Leng Yue put down her book, “you create a trending news story, and make up a story about a programmer being tricked into going abroad to be enslaved. I’ll forward it to Leng Kang and give him a heads-up.”

"Sure, leave it to me!" Zero immediately perked up at the mention of it, sharpening its knives with eagerness. It kept thinking about how to make it more realistic and perfect.

Suddenly, the temperature in the room dropped several degrees. Leng Yue shrank her neck. "What happened? Has it gotten colder?"

Zero glanced at it and said, "No, Yueyue, there's a spirit standing behind you."

"The amulet doesn't work?" Leng Yue was devastated. "I should have just splurged and bought a high-end one!"

"What are you carrying?" the spirit spoke. "Answer me, I know you can hear me!"

Leng Yue pretended not to hear and continued reading her book, but her mind was racing with thoughts of Ling: "A domineering CEO type? Looks like the talisman is still effective!"

Leng Yue happily swung her legs, completely ignoring the spirit.

The spirit circled around to Leng Yue's front, but dared not approach, so it threw a book in front of her. "Hey, I'm asking you a question!"

Leng Yue's face darkened; knowing she couldn't avoid it, she sat up abruptly. "Who are you? Does your mother know how arrogant you are?"

"First tell me who gave you the talisman, then I'll tell you my name," the spirit said arrogantly.

Leng Yue wasn't going to put up with him. "Say it or don't, I'm warning you, I'm not the same person I used to be. If you dare mess with me again, I'll wipe you out!"

This spirit only recently attached itself to the original owner of this body. Before that, it always threatened her to do things for it. If the original owner didn't do them, it would scare her. It would also make all sorts of noises and threaten her with her cold father and cold mother, which is why the original owner couldn't help but break down and was hospitalized again.

Leng Yue despises men like this the most—no, male ghosts. They're utterly tasteless!

"You...you dare!" the spirit said, baring its fangs and contorting its expression in a ferocious manner, trying to frighten Leng Yue once again.

Leng Yue didn't even glance at him, so he twisted his entire head off and threw it next to her. Leng Yue kicked it away, like kicking a soccer ball.

This time, when the spirit body screamed, the amulet on Leng Yue's body was already harmful to the spirit body, and with Leng Yue's merciless kick, his soul was almost kicked away.

"Are you even a woman?" the spirit shouted as she turned around, then tried to throw the book to make a noise.

Leng Yue glanced at the spirit, raised an eyebrow, and said, "Don't test my limits. If you want to die again, I don't mind helping you out."

The spirit, having held the book high, glanced at Leng Yue before obediently and gently placing it back in its original spot. "I just wanted your help, why are you being so stingy?"

The spirit transformed back into its original form, and only then did Leng Yue realize that it was actually a rather handsome ghost. Leng Yue scrutinized him from head to toe, saying, "I said you looked like a gentleman, so why are you doing such despicable things?"

"What scoundrel? Why are you speaking so harshly? I was just in a hurry!" The spirit couldn't help but speak, "Let me formally introduce myself. My name is Tang Liangfeng. I died recently. Because my death was sudden, I had many things left undone, so..."

"So you want me to help you contact your family?" Leng Yue thought to herself, "Just as I expected." She then firmly refused, "I'm not going. People already say I'm mentally unstable, and I just got out of the hospital. You'd better find someone else. Goodbye!"

To everyone's surprise, Tang Liangfeng squatted down and started crying, "I just wanted to ask you for a favor, why can't I? Why is it so hard for me?"

Leng Yue was annoyed by his crying. "You're tall and strong, how dare you cry? You can't judge a book by its cover!"

"Will you help me or not?" Tang Liangfeng insisted on Leng Yue's help, regardless of whether she would laugh at him.

"No way! Cry all you want!" Leng Yue thought to herself, she wasn't someone's maid. They wanted to threaten her? She wouldn't listen. She was the type who responded better to gentle persuasion than force!
