Chapter 2015 Imperial Uncle, the World is Now in My Hands (4)
Shen Linyuan found himself becoming interested without realizing it.
When the late emperor passed away, he appointed him as regent, instructing him to assist the new emperor and supervise the officials. However, the heir apparent was not yet determined.
He initially did indeed want to choose the eldest prince, because the second prince, Si Jin, was aloof, taciturn, five years younger than the eldest prince, and had never entered the Wenyuan Pavilion, so he probably didn't know how to handle political affairs.
But the situation seems to have changed somewhat.
Shen Linyuan's eyes were deep, his attention was entirely on Si Jin, and he didn't care what the group was arguing about. When he came to his senses, he found that the eldest prince, Nangong Siyi, had grabbed his sleeve.
Her expression was flustered, her eyes were red, and tears were about to spill out: "Uncle, you must believe me. I absolutely did not order Yi Ke to kill anyone. Yi Ke is clearly my second brother's confidant. How could he listen to me?"
"Who knows, maybe it was a staged act by someone to frame me!"
He spoke urgently, his hands trembling, causing Shen Linyuan's collar to fray slightly, revealing his snow-white undergarment.
"Uncle, you must... Ah!"
Unexpectedly, as they were talking, a flash of sword light suddenly appeared in front of them.
Nangong Siyi was startled. His grip slipped, and he stumbled back two steps, falling to the ground with a severed piece of his sleeve in his hand.
Not only was it embarrassing, but I almost broke my butt in eight pieces.
She raised her head angrily, meeting her superior's cold, pale face: "What? Are you implying that I instigated Yi Ke to frame you?"
“But Your Majesty, Yi Ke hasn’t returned to my palace for five days. Quite a few people have seen him frequently visiting your place, and…”
As she spoke, Si Jin suddenly turned around, and the tip of her sword directly ripped open Yi Ke's collar. In the place not stained with blood, there was a small tooth mark.
Ignoring Nangong Siyi's unpleasant expression, Sijin continued, "Was this bitten by my elder brother?"
"You two have been in cahoots for so long, and now you're trying to frame me? Don't you find that ridiculous? Besides..."
Si Jin turned around, grabbed Shen Linyuan's other sleeve, shook it a couple of times in a wronged manner, and continued to mutter, "This isn't just your royal uncle."
After saying that, she wiped her tears a couple of times with her sleeve and hid behind Shen Linyuan, feeling wronged.
He stared at Nangong Siyi as if he were looking at a dead man.
He said, "I have no support from court officials, and I don't have that much desire for the throne, so why would I harm my third brother?"
"That's my child, the one I watched grow up!"
As he spoke, seemingly too heartbroken, he boldly used Shen Linyuan's sleeve to wipe his nose.
With tears welling in her eyes and her voice not loud, she still managed to leave Nangong Siyi speechless.
He wanted to curse, but he was afraid that Si Jin would drag him to compare teeth marks. If that proved that he and Yi Ke had an affair, then there would be no hope for the throne!
Knowing he couldn't get any more involved, Nangong Siyi quickly walked away and took the initiative to investigate the cause of the Third Prince's death.
When everyone had dispersed, Si Jin decisively loosened his grip on Chen Linyuan's sleeve, took two steps back, and bowed respectfully, saying, "Respectfully seeing off Imperial Uncle."
The imperial physicians carefully carried Yi Ke and the Third Prince's small bodies away, and soon only Si Jin and Shen Linyuan remained in the quiet room.
They looked at each other, the previous warmth gone, and the child became polite to him.
Shen Linyuan glanced at his torn and dirty sleeve, and instead of being angry, he laughed: "When you were using me just now, you called me 'Royal Uncle' this and 'Royal Uncle' that, but now you don't care about me anymore?"
"Your Highness truly understands the principle of 'when the cunning rabbit dies, the hunting dog is cooked.'"
Si Jin lowered her eyes, expressionless, and pulled up her collar, blurting out a startling question: "Is the Imperial Uncle long... or short?"
