The night was as cool as water, without a trace of moonlight falling to the ground. In the pitch-black night, the sea of red flowers swayed slightly in the wind, and noisy, timid voices echoed along with the sound of the wind.
There was no light in the villa. All the lights in the rooms were dimmed, and light or heavy breathing could be heard from each room.
A dark cloud drifted away, and a slender black shadow flashed by at the left corner of the second floor.
A faint rustling sound spread along the corner of the wall, and a black shadow stuck to the door, with the body almost overlapping with the door.
Its lower body expanded like ink, reaching in through the crack in the door, and then retracted into the room in complete silence.
This room is empty.
Following the same method, it stuck it on the second door.
A black shadow as thick as ink began to expand from the crack in the door, covering the ground, climbing up along the wall, and almost surrounding the entire room.
Xu Zhi was trembling while hiding under the quilt.
He didn't sleep at all.
It was already late at night, and Xu Zhi had not closed his eyes since he entered the room. He saw with his own eyes the sea of roses swaying in the wind outside the window, and witnessed the unidentified objects seeping in from outside the door.
His whole body was shaking, his eyes were wide open with bloodshot eyes, and no matter how frightened he was, he covered his mouth tightly and didn't make a sound.
He wrote down every word the butler said, so even though he was so frightened that his gums were trembling, he bit the quilt tightly and didn't even dare to breathe hard.
I don’t know how long it took, but when the bright moonlight was covered by clouds again, the thing finally retreated.
Xu Zhi fell on the bed, sweating profusely.
The black shadow moved from the left to the last door on the right, and during the process, its body almost climbed onto the bed of the young couple, but left regretfully as the clouds changed.
When it reached this door, it seemed to have no more scruples. Most of its body disappeared and it rushed into the room!
On the bed, Zhu Yuanqing was still lying in Pei Xia's arms. He had his eyes closed, breathing slowly and peacefully, and looked like he was sleeping soundly.
Pei Xia put an arm on his shoulder, holding him in a defensive posture, his face full of relief as if he had gotten what he wanted.
In a place that neither of them noticed, a black mist tightly wrapped around Zhu Yuanqing's waist, sometimes climbing up and sometimes climbing down, even hooking his fingertips and swallowing his entire hand.
It seemed to treat his body as its own amusement park, so that the black shadow suddenly grew larger as it approached, burying the man firmly in the fog.
The fog was so thick that it almost turned into substance. The shadow on the ground stopped and actually shrank back.
The tall shadow outside the door suddenly jumped out from the door, causing the door to tremble. It stood there for a while without giving up, and finally dragged its heavy body and disappeared at the end of the corridor.
A dreamless night.
At seven o'clock the next day, the alarm clock that had been set in advance rang on time. Zhu Yuanqing raised his arm in a daze and heard a muffled groan.
He suddenly woke up.
Zhu Yuanqing opened his eyes with a serious expression and sat up.
Pei Xia then sat up, his expression clear but bewildered, obviously having woken up a long time ago.
Zhu Yuanqing was somewhat concerned about his muffled groaning and asked, "What's wrong? Are you feeling unwell?"
As he spoke, he quickly scanned the entire room. The furnishings in the room were all in their original places, and there seemed to be nothing wrong.
But... when he saw a piece of paper that had slipped out of the crack in the door, his eyes became serious.
Zhu Yuanqing knew himself well. Even if he was influenced by the original owner's drunkenness, it was impossible for him to fall asleep unconsciously on the first night in a strange place knowing that there was danger.
The original owner died on the first night. Even a fool would know to stay vigilant, let alone Zhu Yuanqing?
But the strange thing was that not only did he fall asleep, he slept very soundly and didn't wake up until the alarm clock rang.
It would be strange if there were no ghosts here.
"Hmm..." Pei Xia shook her head, pursed her lips and held Zhu Yuanqing's hand, her face slightly red, looking a little uncomfortable.
"Do you have a fever?" Zhu Yuanqing leaned forward and placed the back of his hand on his forehead.
The body temperature is normal, even a little low, and there is no sign of fever at all.
He leaned in closer again, wanting to test the temperature in other places, but was caught off guard and thrown onto the bed.
Behind him was a soft bed, and Zhu Yuanqing's body bounced slightly on it, trying to push away someone who was rubbing against his neck.
"Didn't we agree that you can't just pounce on me." Zhu Yuanqing was helpless.
“It’s… it’s so uncomfortable…”
With a halting voice, Pei Xia spoke his first words in two days.
Zhu Yuanqing's face changed, and just as he was about to stand up, he was burned by the abnormal temperature somewhere on his body.
He paused, his face expressionless.
Oh, the person may be stupid but the body is not stupid.
Pei Xia felt even more uncomfortable with his close movements. She completely hung on Zhu Yuanqing, biting his neck and grinding her teeth, her hands moving restlessly, and her legs rubbing against his legs.
After a while, he groaned again and fell on Zhu Yuanqing.
Fortunately, he still had some sense and knew his own weight as an adult, so he unloaded most of the weight on the bed.
Zhu Yuanqing took a deep breath and gritted his teeth: "Pei Xia, go take a shower now, right now!"
It was almost eight o'clock when the two of them finished packing. Zhu Yuanqing didn't hold anyone's hand this time. He strode towards the restaurant with big strides. The little tail behind him followed with a droopy head, following at a distance of less than half a meter.
Pei Xia sat down, but before he could move the chair over, the clock on the wall showed eight o'clock.
He couldn't move.
There was a sandwich on the plate. Pei Xia took advantage of Zhu Yuanqing turning his head to look around and stabbed the plate in half with a fork, almost without making any sound.
The maid next to her had not left yet. Seeing this, her face turned grim, her black pupils turned green, and several thick roots with thorns protruded from under her skirt.
But the stupid-looking man turned his head unexpectedly and glanced at her with emotionless eyes.
The maid's face turned pale, and she was suddenly overwhelmed by great fear and retreated to the wall.
Zhu Yuanqing frowned and turned back, only to see the maid hurriedly leaving.
He stopped paying attention and looked at the other people at the table and asked, "Where's Yan Qing?"
Everyone at the table had black eyes, especially Xu Zhi and Yu Wenli. One had bloodshot eyes and the other had a pale face, looking visibly listless.
She was dazed for a moment and glanced at the empty seat: "Huh? He's not here. He must have gotten up late."
Li Dapeng sneered: "Look at how dead he looked yesterday. Maybe he scared himself to death tonight!"
Yu Wenli's face was as pale as paper.
Everyone was more or less concerned about Yan Qing's situation, so the meal was eaten very quickly. Even Pei Xia, who was usually slow, broke his usual habit and ate faster in order to get closer to others.
After dinner, the seven of them went upstairs one after another. When Zhu Yuanqing went up the stairs, a frightened female voice suddenly came from upstairs.
“Ah!! Someone’s dead!!!”
