Chapter 17: Warlord vs. Innocent Girl (17)

Fu Yunxiao took Jiang Jingyu to the study, and with his hand hanging by his side he secretly gave the housekeeper a thumbs up.

The housekeeper covered his mouth and laughed, and hurriedly asked the servants to make a pot of oolong tea, which Fu Yunxiao liked to drink.

"Sit wherever you like."

Fu Yunxiao pushed open the door of the study and then made a gesture of invitation to Jiang Jingyu.

The spacious space came into Jiang Jingyu's sight. She looked surprised and walked into the study.

Fu Yunxiao's study is simple and spacious. The entire study is made of black lacquered wood. Two rows of bookshelves stand against the wall, and a five-meter-long conference table is placed across the middle of the study.

The scenery outside the window is beautiful, reflecting the pavilions and waterside terraces in the back garden. The sunlight shines through the window onto the conference table, and the curtains flutter in the wind. From the moment I came in, the restlessness in my heart was soothed by the scenery in front of me.

The fragrance of books and herbs is rich and refreshing.

Jiang Jingyu looked around the study and walked to the window facing the sunlight.

The window was open to the outside. She leaned her upper body out of the window to look at the scenery of the back garden, and then she discovered that the back garden was a different world.

"So this is what the Marshal's Mansion's back garden looks like."

Jiang Jingyu closed her eyes and took a deep breath of the fragrance of flowers outside the window. The corners of her mouth turned up, and her dimples were shallow, just like peach blossoms slowly blooming in the spring breeze.

The hem of her cheongsam swayed in the wind, and the sunlight cast a faint halo on her body, making her look like an angel who had accidentally fallen into the mortal world, making people dare not desecrate her.

Looking at the smile on Jiang Jingyu's lips, Fu Yunxiao's lips also raised involuntarily.

"How about it? If you like the environment here, you can come to the study every day to read, write, or enjoy the scenery. You can do whatever you want. It's up to you."

Jiang Jingyu turned and looked at him: "Aren't you usually in the study? Aren't you afraid that I'll disturb you?"

"No problem. I always like to have someone accompany me when I'm doing official business."

Fu Yunxiao lied with his eyes open without blushing at all. He walked straight to the seat by the window and pulled the chair under the desk outwards.

"Sit down, this seat has a great view."

Jiang Jingyu looked over in the direction he was standing and found an ashtray on the table. A picture immediately appeared in Jiang Jingyu's mind: a tall and slender man with a lit cigar in his hand, leaning against the table, smoking and admiring the scenery outside the window.

Jiang Jingyu walked towards him, her hair was messed up by the wind, and Fu Yunxiao subconsciously raised his hand to tidy up her inky black hair.

Two figures, one tall and one short, formed a harmonious picture under the mottled light and shadow. The housekeeper happened to see this scene when he came in with a teapot and cut fruits, and smiled with satisfaction.

He was just about to quietly put the things down and leave, but Jiang Jingyu, who caught a glimpse of his figure out of the corner of his eye, took two steps back and turned to look at him.

"I don't know what kind of fruit Miss Jiang likes to eat, so I just washed some. If Miss Jiang has any afternoon tea she likes, please let me know. I'll have it brought up later."

The butler had no choice but to explain while holding the tray.

"No need to bother, I'll just eat some fruit. Thanks to Uncle Fu."

"If there's nothing else, I'll go down first. Miss Jiang's books are on the very edge of the second shelf."

Uncle Fu put down his things and hurriedly turned around and left, trying to create some space for the two of them to be alone.

Jiang Jingyu followed Uncle Fu's instructions and walked towards the bookshelf. He looked at the books on the shelf along the way and found that they were all military-related books.

Jiang Jingyu was not interested in these, so she went straight to the edge of the bookshelf and picked out a book of her own. When she was about to turn around, her eyes were suddenly attracted by the book next to her.

"Japanese? Are you learning Japanese?"

Jiang Jingyu took out the Japanese language book and looked at Fu Yunxiao curiously.

Fu Yunxiao looked surprised: "You know Japanese?"

Jiang Jingyu nodded: "Not only do I know it, I can also speak it."

After saying that, Jiang Jingyu coughed twice and said a few words in the Japanese tone.

Fu Yunxiao believed it now and looked at Jiang Jingyu excitedly.

He had always wanted to find someone he could trust to teach him some simple Japanese to facilitate his future work, but he couldn't find a suitable person after searching around.

"If you want to study Japanese, I can teach you."

Jiang Jingyu understood the meaning in his eyes and walked over with the Japanese book. She casually flipped through the Japanese book with Chinese annotations on it and looked up at Fu Yunxiao.

"Hey, what are these words you want to learn?"

"How do you say laboratory in Japanese?"

Fu Yunxiao looked at her without any hesitation.

Jiang Jingyu paused in turning the pages of the book. He indeed knew about the laboratory secretly set up by the Japanese in Bozhou!

Jiang Jingyu was shocked but her expression remained unchanged: "じっけんしつ"

Before Fu Yunxiao could react, she said the word "laboratory" in Japanese.

"Well, say it again, and speak slower."

Jiang Jingyu repeated it again. Fu Yunxiao heard it clearly this time and repeated it after Jiang Jingyu finished speaking.

Hearing his standard pronunciation, Jiang Jingyu raised an eyebrow: "It seems that Marshal Fu has a talent for languages. What else do you want to know?"

Fu Yunxiao raised the corners of his eyes when he was praised, and said a few more words. No matter what he said, Jiang Jingyu could rely on the language gift package given by the system to skillfully repeat it in Japanese.

Fu Yunxiao learned the short words well after listening to them once, but he had trouble putting them together.

"No, transfer is not pronounced correctly. The tip of your tongue should be against the roof of your mouth, like I do."

Jiang Jingyu tilted her head back to demonstrate herself, and Fu Yunxiao's attention was completely attracted by her pink tongue tip.

"Do you understand?"

Jiang Jingyu's voice brought Fu Yunxiao back to his chaotic thoughts, and he hurriedly followed her demonstration.

"Very good, you pronounced it correctly this time. Also, when pronouncing the word 'experimental product', don't make your mouth too small. Your mouth should open and close about the size of a finger."

Jiang Jingyu opened her mouth and gestured with her fingers on it.

Fu Yunxiao imitated her movements and pronunciation, but no matter how he said it, it lacked the Japanese accent.

"It's a Sino-Hura, not a Sino-Hura, do it again."

Jiang Jingyu pointed out his pronunciation errors very patiently, but no matter how she demonstrated, the words Fu Yunxiao repeated sounded a little off.

In order to correct his pronunciation, Jiang Jingyu took two steps forward and came to him: "Ah, open your mouth."

Fu Yunxiao did as he was told, and the next moment Jiang Jingyu placed her index finger between his lips.

"Hold my finger."
