Chapter 21: The General's Pet (21)

Qin stared at Qi Lingyun with wide eyes. The love she once had for her was gone, replaced by a strong sense of wariness and fear!

Qi Lingyun was stunned. She didn't expect Qin to make such an expression and action towards her.

"Aunt, what's wrong with you? Did you have a nightmare? Yun'er is here, don't be afraid."

Qin stared at her straight, cold sweat still pouring out of her body.

She had a nightmare, a nightmare that was all too real.

She dreamed that their general's mansion was framed by a villain and ended up with the entire family being executed!

The culprit behind all this was Qi Lingyun, who colluded with outsiders to hide the fabricated evidence in the General's study, where it was discovered by the palace guards!

This is the hatred of destroying an entire family!!

Although it was just a dream, everything in the dream was too real, causing Qin to be unable to look Qi Lingyun in the face until now.

Qi Lingyun saw the defensiveness in Qin's eyes clearly. She bit her lower lip with an innocent look on her face. "Aunt, what's wrong with you? Why are you looking at Yun'er like that?"

Qin lowered her head to hide the emotion in her eyes: "It's okay, I just had a nightmare and I haven't recovered for a while."

Hearing that it was caused by a nightmare, Qi Lingyun secretly breathed a sigh of relief. She thought her aunt had seen through her thoughts!

After calming down, Qi Lingyun glanced at Qin who lowered her head, and a hint of contempt flashed across her eyes.

She was worrying too much. Her aunt had always been stupid, so how could she possibly see what she was thinking?

In her opinion, her aunt was lucky. She had become the wife of a general of noble status, and her uncle treated her very well and never took a concubine in his life.

Otherwise, with her stupid mind, she would have died in the fight in the mansion long ago!

After Qin calmed down, she raised her head, her expression no different from usual.

"What time is it?"

Qi Lingyun sat by the bed and held Qin's arm affectionately: "Aunt, it's already noon, and the Shangsi Festival performance is about to begin. Aunt, please change your clothes quickly, and let's go to the street to watch it together!"

Qin, who had originally agreed to go to the Shangsi Festival together, suddenly changed her mind. She calmly pulled her arm out of Qi Lingyun's hand, stood up and walked off the bed.

"Prepare the horses. This lady is going to Yuntan Temple."

"Yuntan Temple?" Qi Lingyun was stunned. "What did my aunt do in Yuntan Temple?"

Qin opened her arms and let the maid change her clothes. She said calmly, "I heard that wishes made at Yuntan Temple are always effective. I have finally come to Fuyang, and I want to go to Yuntan Temple to pray for Yanci's safety."

Qi Lingyun's eyes flickered slightly, but she didn't doubt Qin's words. She took two steps forward and said, "Yun'er is most familiar with the road at Yuntan Temple. Let Yun'er go with her aunt."

"Thank you for your help, Yun'er."

Qin did not refuse. After putting on her clothes, she got on the carriage with Qi Lingyun and went to Yuntan Temple.

An hour later, Yuntan Temple.

After arriving at Yuntan Temple, Qin did not go anywhere else, but went directly to the Buddhist temple to pray for Fu Yanci and burn incense, praying that he would be safe and sound in his life.

Qi Lingyun was not idle either. She pretended to kneel on the cushion next to Qin and prayed for Fu Yanci with her.

"I pray that the Buddha will bless my cousin Yanci to be safe and sound, without illness or disaster." I also pray that I can marry smoothly into the general's mansion and live a worry-free life.

Qi Lingyun's words reached Qin's ears very clearly. Qin glanced at Qi Lingyun who was kneeling beside her.

For some reason, Qi Lingyun beside her looked very pious, but in Qin's eyes, she seemed extremely hypocritical!

That nightmare kept lingering in Qin's mind. Whenever she saw Qi Lingyun, the smug smile on Qi Lingyun's face when the entire general's family was executed would unconsciously emerge in her mind.

Qin took a deep breath, stood up, walked to the incense burner and inserted the incense in her hand into it.

After doing all this, Qin felt that it was not enough, so she picked up three incense sticks again and knelt on the cushion again.

This time, she not only prayed for the general's mansion and the old lady, but also did not leave out Jiang Jingyu.

In the dream, on the eve of the execution of the entire general's family, Yan Ci wrote a letter of divorce, hoping that Jiang Jingyu could use it to escape death.

But Jiang Jingyu tore the divorce agreement into pieces without hesitation and chose to live and die with their general's mansion.

Qin offered incense twice in succession and did not leave the Buddhist temple until she had prayed for everyone in the general's mansion.

"Aunt, there are some nice views in Yuntan Temple. Yun'er, take me for a walk."

Yuntan Temple is backed by rolling mountains and has a beautiful scenery, but Qin has no intention of appreciating it at this moment.

"By the way, Yun'er, didn't you say there was a great master in Yuntan Temple? Do you know where that master lives?"

Qin shook her head and suddenly remembered the master Qi Lingyun mentioned.

If the master was really as powerful as others said, she might be able to get some understanding from him.

Qi Lingyun's expression changed slightly, and she said angrily, "Aunt, why did you suddenly think of the Master?"

"Nothing, I just heard that the master has great magical powers, so I wanted to ask him something."

Qi Lingyun clenched her hands upon hearing this, and had only one thought in her mind.

Can’t let my aunt see the master!!

If her aunt asked about her after meeting the master, wouldn't all the lies she had fabricated be exposed right in front of her?!

Qi Lingyun was really panicked now. Her thoughts were racing as she tried desperately to think of an excuse.

Her eyes flickered slightly, and she looked at Qin with regret: "What a coincidence! Master Liaoyin always likes to travel. I heard that he only stayed in Yuntan Temple for ten days this time. He should have gone on a journey by now, right?"

Qin frowned, a little disappointed: "That's really unfortunate. If I had known, I would have come here a few days ago. Maybe I could have met Master Yin."
