Chapter 39: The Eccentric Emperor vs. the Powerful Minister’s Wife (39)

Under the rebuke and restraint of the empress dowager, Song Wenjing withdrew his hand in disappointment and gave Jiang Jingyu a light kiss on the forehead.

"Ayu, we have a child."

Jiang Jingyu curled her red lips slightly, she touched her flat belly with one hand and covered the man's excited face with the other hand.

"Well, we have a baby."

It's autumn again in the blink of an eye.

Under the careful care and attention of Song Wenjing and the Queen Mother, the baby in Jiang Jingyu's belly finally reached its due date.

This was Song Wenjing's first time being a father, and he was afraid that something might go wrong, so he sent people to find a dozen experienced midwives several days before the birth.

"Ayu, can you have another sip?"

Song Wenjing sat by the bed, coaxing Jiang Jingyu to drink another sip of sweet porridge like a child.

Looking at his cautious movements, Jiang Jingyu showed helplessness. She opened her mouth and was about to swallow the sweet porridge that was delivered to her mouth, when she suddenly felt a strange sensation in her lower abdomen.

"Ayu? Ayu, what's wrong with you? Don't scare me!"

Song Wenjing hurriedly put the bowl in his hand aside and looked at her nervously.

"Your Majesty, I, I seem to be giving birth."

Jiang Jingyu held her round belly, her face pale.

Song Wenjing grabbed her hand and yelled towards the door: "Midwife, midwife, come in quickly!"

At a command, Song Wenjing stroked the top of Jiang Jingyu's head with his big hand, his voice nervous yet gentle: "Don't be afraid, Ayu, I'm here, I will always protect you."

Jiang Jingyu pushed his arm and said, "Your Majesty, please go out and wait."

After Jiang Jingyu's repeated emphasis, Song Wenjing finally left Fengyi Palace and waited outside the palace.

More than a dozen midwives came in one after another. One of them, who was about forty years old, came to the bed, looked at her pale little face and comforted her softly.

"Don't be afraid, my lady. Giving birth is the second biggest hurdle in a woman's life. Just be patient and it will pass."

Jiang Jingyu let the midwife help her lie down. Although she looked pale, she had actually taken pain-free childbirth pills in advance and did not feel any pain.

After hearing the news, the Queen Mother hurriedly took the phoenix chariot to Fengyi Palace. After getting off the chariot, she hurried into the palace at a brisk pace.

"Queen Mother, Queen Mother, please slow down!"

The palace maids were startled and rushed forward to support her, fearing that the empress dowager would walk too fast and bump into something.

When the Queen Mother arrived at Fengyi Palace, Song Wenjing was pacing outside the palace.

"Jing'er, how is Jingyu?"

The Queen Mother's voice sounded behind him. Song Wenjing hurriedly walked towards her and took her arm from the palace maid.

Song Wenjing supported the Queen Mother and walked towards the bedroom: "Why are you here, Mother?"

The Queen Mother's eyes were fixed on the closed door of the bedroom: "I heard that Jingyu was about to give birth, and I was worried, so I came to see her."

"ah--"

As soon as the Queen Mother finished speaking, Jiang Jingyu's roar was heard from the bedroom.

"Ayu needs me now, I'll go in and take a look!"

Song Wenjing's heart started pounding when he heard this, and he rushed to the bedroom without saying a word.

The Queen Mother quickly grabbed him and scolded him, "Come back! Why are you causing trouble at this time?"

As someone who had experienced this, the Queen Mother knew that Jiang Jingyu didn't want Song Wenjing to see her in such a miserable state at this moment. If Song Wenjing went in at this moment, not only would he not be able to help, but it would distract Jiang Jingyu.

Song Wenjing clenched his hands into fists in anxiety, but he finally listened to the Queen Mother's words and stood where he was.

The Queen Mother walked over to Song Wenjing and patiently advised, "Jing'er, I know you're worried. Don't worry, Jingyu will be fine."

The Queen Mother kept urging Song Wenjing to relax, but her own brows were furrowed and every wrinkle on her face exuded worry.

The Buddhist beads in his hand kept turning, and his eyes were always fixed on the door of the bedroom.

Screams of pain came from the hall one after another, and Song Wenjing's heart was gripped by them. He was usually calm, but now his mind was in a mess. His thin lips were pursed into a tiny slit, and he paced back and forth in front of the hall with his fists clenched.

If possible, he would have rushed in and endured the pain for Ayu!

The Queen Mother slowly closed her eyes, twirling the Buddhist beads with her fingers, silently praying for Jiang Jingyu and the baby in her belly.

A quarter of an hour later.

“Wow wow—”

The cry of a baby broke through the air, Song Wenjing suddenly stopped, and the empress dowager slowly opened her eyes.

"Ayu!"

Song Wenjing couldn't bear it any longer and flashed into the hall!

The Queen Mother also had red eyes as she walked step by step into the hall.

"Congratulations, Your Majesty! The Queen has given birth to a little prince!"

The midwife came over holding a wrinkled baby, but Song Wenjing walked right past them and came to the bed.

"Ayu, Ayu, how are you? Are you feeling unwell?"

Song Wenjing sat on the edge of the bed and looked at her with a distressed look on his face. He didn't care that her hair on her forehead was wet with sweat, and put his thin lips directly on hers.

At this time, the Queen Mother walked in, and the midwife hurriedly came forward with the little prince in her arms: "Congratulations, Queen Mother, the Queen has given birth to a little prince!"

The Queen Mother looked at the child in the midwife's arms and nodded with a smile: "Okay, okay."

Just when the midwife thought the Queen Mother was going to hold the little grandson, she walked straight towards the bed.

The midwives looked at each other in bewilderment.

This this this?

Is the little prince so unpleasant? ?

The midwife tightened her arms around the little prince.

The Queen Mother came to the bedside and looked at Jiang Jingyu with eyes full of heartache: "Jingyu, you have worked hard. I will ask someone to make ginseng soup to nourish you."

Jiang Jingyu smiled slightly: "Mother, I'm fine."

The Queen Mother bent down and patted Jiang Jingyu's hand, her eyes red, and everything was said without words.

The midwife came to the bed with the little prince in her arms and said, "Congratulations, Queen, on giving birth to a little prince!"

The Emperor's father doesn't love him, and the Empress doesn't love him either. So, the Empress, as his biological mother, should at least love the little prince, right?

If the Queen doesn't love the little prince, then the little prince will be too pitiful!

Jiang Jingyu looked in the direction of the voice. The Queen Mother saw her movements and smiled, "Jingyu, you haven't seen the child yet, right? The child is very cute. Hurry and bring the child to me so I can see him."

The Queen Mother moved aside and let the midwife come forward with the child.

Jiang Jingyu looked at the child in the midwife's arms with joy, and the corners of her mouth twitched when she saw the child with eyes closed and wrinkled body like a little monkey.

It's so cute that I can't describe it in words...

The Queen Mother took in all of Jiang Jingyu's expressions and said with a smile, "The child is still young. He will be beautiful when he grows up. When Jing'er was born, he was also like a little monkey."

The Queen Mother raised her hand and gently pinched the little grandson's face, the joy in her eyes almost overflowing.

"Have you chosen a name for the child?"

Song Wenjing and the Queen Mother looked at Jiang Jingyu together. Jiang Jingyu was stunned: "I'll take it?"

The Queen Mother and Song Wenjing nodded in unison and left the naming matter to Jiang Jingyu.

Jiang Jingyu paused, her eyes fell on the child, and even her gaze became much softer.

"Song Ceyan."
