Chapter 9: The General's Pet (09)

Fu Yanci was stunned. The sudden words made him a little confused. Just as he was confused, Jiang Jingyu's voice sounded in his ears again.

"Does Brother Yanci like Ayu as much as Grandma does?"

Jiang Jingyu stared at him, and Fu Yanci finally realized that she was asking about what he had just said in the Prime Minister's Mansion.

Jiang Jingyu was destined not to hear the answer she wanted from Fu Yanci.

Fu Yanci closed his eyes and didn't look at her, hiding all the complexity in his eyes.

Ever since he was poisoned and diagnosed by the doctor as infertile, both the soldiers and the people of Kyoto felt sorry for him.

Not to mention my grandmother and mother. My grandmother fell seriously ill because of this, and my mother was furious. She cursed all the ancestors of the person who poisoned him.

Others go to the temple to worship Buddha and burn incense, but my mother goes to the temple to pray to God that the person will not die a good death.

Fu Yanci was quite open-minded about this matter. He did not blame anyone. He could choose not to marry and stay in the northern border for the rest of his life until the end of his fate.

But now, not only did he marry a wife, he also married the person he had always dreamed of.

He wanted to give her the best, and wanted her to live out her days with her children around her like everyone else.

The imperial physician said that there was still some poison in his body. If they had a child, if he unfortunately died of the poison one day, at least he would have the child to accompany her.

But now he couldn't even give her a child, so how could he respond to her advances?

For the first time, Fu Yanci resented the unfairness of his fate. He clenched his large palms hidden under his sleeves into fists and pursed his thin lips into a thin slit.

Jiang Jingyu kept looking at him, and after noticing his emotions, she put her hand into his sleeve and held his big palm tightly.

After a long journey, Qin finally arrived at his hometown Fuyang.

"Ma'am, we're here."

The maid reminded her outside the carriage. Qin lifted the curtain and looked out. She frowned when she saw the deserted and dilapidated gate of the mansion.

She did not go directly to the Fu family's old farm, but first came to her mother's family, the Qin Mansion.

She planned to use the excuse of missing her parents to cover up the fact that the old lady had sent her to her hometown in Fuyang to reflect on her mistakes.

But I didn't expect that after so many years, the Qin Mansion in my memory has become so dilapidated. Compared with the tall and magnificent General's Mansion, it is so shabby!

Qin got out of the carriage and, supported by her maid, walked towards the mansion gate.

In addition to two maids, Qin also brought a few servants with her. Since she was visiting her parents, she naturally couldn't come empty-handed. Before coming, she asked the servants to prepare some gifts.

Since moving to Kyoto, Qin had only come to the Qin Mansion twice when she was punished by the old lady to come to Lao Zhuangzi to reflect on her mistakes. The last time she came to the Qin Mansion was five years ago.

A lot of things happened in these five years. With the change of seasons, the servants in the Qin Mansion were replaced one after another.

"Madam, who are you looking for?"

The servant of the Qin Mansion had never seen Qin before and did not know her identity. When he saw her trying to break into the Qin Mansion, he subconsciously reached out to stop her.

"How dare you! General's wife, you dare to stop me?"

Yinghong, the maidservant beside Qin, scolded her harshly and directly brought up Qin's identity.

The servant was stunned and subconsciously looked at Qin. Seeing that she had an extraordinary temperament and the clothes she wore were all made of fine materials, he thought that a distinguished guest had come to the Qin Mansion and hurried in to report.

"Master, Madam, there's someone outside claiming to be the General's wife asking to see you!"

Mr. Qin, who was watering the flowers, was stunned: "General's wife?"

Feng's eyes rolled around and she slapped her thigh excitedly: "Could it be that Feng Wan is back?"

Master Qin finally realized that the general's wife the servant was talking about was his daughter Qin Fengwan.

"Hey, Master, stop watering those broken flowers of yours and come with me to greet Feng Wan!"

Feng grabbed Mr. Qin's sleeve and walked out, not giving him a chance to refuse.

"Feng Wan, Feng Wan, you're finally back. I missed you so much!"

Qin was finally invited in. Feng felt closer to her than to her own daughter. She yelled at the top of her lungs and rushed towards her quickly.

Just as she was about to fall into Qin's arms, two maids, Yinghong and Chenlu, hurriedly stood in front of Qin and stopped Feng from running over.

Feng stopped, pushed Yinghong and Chenlu aside, and grabbed Qin's arm.

"Feng Wan, Feng Wan, you're finally back! You don't know how much I missed you during all these years you were gone!"

Qin glanced at Feng indifferently, pulled her arm out of her hand, patted the sleeve that Feng had touched, and showed no disdain on her face.

"Mother, please be careful. My dress is made of silk and satin. You can't afford to pay for it if it gets wrinkled."

Feng's face froze for a moment, then she smiled bitterly, "Yes, yes, it was my fault. Please stop standing here. Feng Wan finally came back. I'll get the kitchen staff to prepare a welcome dinner for her!"

Seeing Feng, who used to beat and scold her, now fawning over her, Qin felt so relieved!

She straightened her back, raised her proud head, and walked slowly into the mansion.

When passing by Master Qin, Qin simply called him father, and there was no joy in her tone of voice for a father-daughter reunion.

Master Qin was no longer surprised by her attitude. He never interfered in the affairs of the rear house, which led to Qin suffering a lot of grievances while in the Qin Mansion. Master Qin did not ask for much, as long as she returned to this family and recognized him as her father.

The group came to the main hall. Ever since she met Qin, Feng had hardly stopped talking, and her words were full of flattery.

Even if you are unwilling in your heart, what can you do?

Qin Fengwan, who had been bullied by her in every way, had transformed into a general's wife of noble status. Feng could only try her best to please him, fearing that Qin Fengwan would bring up old grudges and she would have no chance of survival.

Listening to Feng's flattery again and again, Qin said she enjoyed it very much.

She acted like a general's wife and sipped her tea gently. "Why didn't I see my second sister and Yun'er?"

The person who has the closest relationship with Qin in the Qin Mansion is her second sister Qin Fenglan. Yun'er is the daughter of her second sister Qin Fenglan. After Qin Fenglan's husband died of illness, her in-laws could not accommodate her and her daughter, so she took her daughter back to the Qin Mansion.

Feng hurriedly explained, "A high-ranking monk has come to Yuntan Temple. He's said to be very accurate in fortune-telling. Fenglan took Yun'er to the temple to have her fortune read. He should be back soon."

Speak of the devil, and here he comes. Just as he finished speaking, a clear voice came from outside the door.

"Aunt, is Aunt back?"

Immediately afterwards, a goose yellow figure came into their sight.

Qin looked at the person in front of her in surprise: "Are you... Yun'er?"

After not seeing each other for five years, Qin was a little hesitant to recognize him.

The woman smiled and nodded: "Auntie, Yun'er misses you so much! Yun'er has so much to say to you, Auntie!"
