Nan Qing wasn't that interested in honey; she was more interested in going out and having fun.
So when Mo Ye returned carrying a sheep-like beast, the first thing she asked about was the market.
"Sumino!"
"I heard the tribe is going to the grassland market soon? When are they going?"
Mo Ye placed the sheep-beast on his shoulder onto the stone platform. Sweat slid down his bronze chest. Hearing the question, he turned to look at her, a hint of a smile flashing in his eyes.
"We're setting off tomorrow. You've discovered a lot of food and new things. The tribe should be able to trade for a lot of things this time."
"I want to go too!"
There are no vehicles or anything like that here; it's all about walking. Mo Ye could walk a little further, but if it were just her, with her thin legs, the valley was the furthest she could manage...
Mo Ye gently pulled her away a little, picked up the newly made wooden bucket, scooped a bucket of water from the stone vat next to him, and poured it directly over his head. He did this several times before letting out a long sigh, shaking his short hair as water droplets splashed everywhere.
“Yes, I know you definitely want to go.” He walked back to Nan Qing’s side and sniffed. “So I already told the chief that we’ll set off with the tribe’s team tomorrow.”
The journey to the grasslands is long, taking about ten days even in beast form, so females are usually not brought along. However, Nanqing has made great contributions to the tribe, and when he spoke to his father beast, the father beast agreed.
Hearing this, Nan Qing was finally satisfied and turned back to sit in her little rocking chair.
"So, what should we bring?"
“I’ve prepared everything. We’ll take those animal hides that you don’t like and trade them for things from other tribes.”
The wolf tribe is skilled at hunting and used to trade animal hides for goods from other tribes. Animal hides were very popular among some weaker tribes, since not all orc tribes were as powerful as the wolf tribe.
The next day, before dawn, Nanqing vaguely felt a fluffy tail wrapped around her waist, and the next second she was gently placed on a warm back.
She opened her eyes a crack, glanced at the black wolf beneath her, and muttered softly, "Mo Ye? They've set off?"
Mo Ye's wolf head looked back and then swept its large tail across the person on its back.
"Hmm, hold on tight to my fur."
"oh....."
Nanqing grabbed the long wolf fur on his body and quickly fell into a deep sleep again.
In the open space in the center of the tribe, the beastmen who were participating in this grassland market had all gathered. The backs of more than a dozen giant wolves were full of things to exchange, and Mo Ye also had four large wicker baskets on his back.
He placed the four rattan baskets on the back of his back, far away from the person sleeping soundly on his back.
"Set off!"
With a low growl from Rock, the males of the tribe transformed into their beast forms, raised their heads, and howled. The deep wolf howls echoed in the pre-dawn silence, startling many birds in the nearby forests.
Nan Qing merely lifted her eyelids, nuzzled against Mo Ye's back, and quickly drifted back into sleep. Mo Ye's tail unconsciously curled upwards, gently resting on Nan Qing's body, like a natural railing, protecting the person on its back completely.
Lin Tian leaned closer, glanced at the person on his back, and teased in a low voice:
"I said, do you think this is raising cubs?"
"You never use your tail like that..."
Mo Ye glanced at him without saying a word. What did he know? The other males were always looking at his back. Even if they hadn't formed a bond yet, they were still his little females!
When Nanqing woke up, it was already fully light. She looked up and all she could hear was the whistling wind.
The giant wolf was incredibly fast, leaping several meters at a time. Mo Ye was slowing down because he had Nan Qing on his back, keeping a safe distance at the very back of the group.
As Nan Qing watched the scenery rushing past on both sides, her drowsiness vanished instantly. She sat up straight, closed her eyes, and let the warm breeze caress her face, her long hair flying in the wind.
Mo Ye noticed the movement on his back, and his wolf ears immediately twitched. He slowed down a bit, but his steps remained steady.
At first, Nan Qing was quite interested. The trees and flowers in this beast world were quite different from those in other worlds. The hot season was a relatively friendly one. Along the way, the leaves were lush and green, the wildflowers were bright and beautiful, and the air was fragrant.
But the road to the grasslands is really long and boring. Moreover, males only need to eat one meal a day and hardly need to rest during their runs. Nanqing, however, is just an ordinary human, so it's definitely not feasible for him.
So every day at noon, she and Moye would stop to eat lunch, and after eating, they would continue on their way until sunset, when they could catch up with the tribe’s team that had stopped hunting and resting.
"Moye, how many more days...?"
Nan Qing lay sprawled inside the makeshift tent Mo Ye had built with animal hides, staring at the tent above her head, feeling utterly hopeless.
In ancient times, she suffered the hardships of riding in a carriage; now, in this beast world, she finds herself enduring the same suffering. Isn't this world a bit too vast?!
No wonder the market is only held once a year; if it were to come more often, who could possibly attend?
The crackling sound of burning branches came from outside the tent, and Mo Ye's voice, mixed with the aroma of roasting meat, drifted in:
"We'll arrive after we cross the two mountains ahead."
Even after hearing that they were almost there, Nan Qing didn't have much energy. She just patted the animal skin beneath her, let out a long sigh, and thought to herself that she hoped the market would be fun, otherwise all her ten days of travel would have been for nothing.
As night fell, all the males transformed back into their animal forms and lay down in the forest to sleep. Nanqing slept in a small tent made of animal skins, while Moye also transformed back into his animal form, perked up his ears, and lay guarding her at the tent entrance.
In the Beast World continent, once you leave your tribe, you are always at risk of being attacked, perhaps by wild beasts, orcs from other tribes, or wandering orcs.
Of course, ordinary orcs wouldn't provoke the wolf clan, which is known throughout the orc continent for its large numbers and formidable strength.
Last winter, the tiger tribe, lacking sufficient supplies, launched a surprise attack on the wolf tribe. As a result, the tigers were relentlessly pursued and attacked by the wolves from the winter into the rainy season. The commotion even alerted the hibernating snake tribe.
In terms of holding grudges and maintaining unity, the wolf clan can be considered the number one in the beast world.
However, there are always some blind orcs who are blinded by the wolf clan's piles of supplies.
For example, right now-----
The moonlight was dim, and the few bonfires in the clearing gradually weakened. All around, there were only the rustling of the wind in the woods and the chirping of insects.
But whether it was Mo Ye or the other male wolves, all the sleeping giant wolves instantly opened their eyes, their cold gazes flickering like will-o'-the-wisps in the night, silent and sinister.
Mo Ye immediately used his tail to lift the tent and curled up the sleeping Nan Qing inside, placing her on his back.
Nan Qing woke up when he wrapped his tail around her waist, and... she also smelled an unpleasant odor. She clutched the fur under her hand, raised her head, and looked around.
In the darkness, dozens of pairs of eyes, glowing with an eerie green light, floated, accompanied by heavy breathing and greedy swallowing sounds...
