As soon as Lu Qingsi mentioned going south, Lu Ming immediately thought of the secret realm he had mentioned before. He said, somewhat amused and exasperated, "What, you still remember what I said?"
"Of course I remember." Lu Qingsi nodded. "I remember many of the things my brother said."
Lu Ming couldn't bear to dampen his enthusiasm, and said, "I only heard about what it's like there from others, I don't know if it's true or not."
"Brother, whether it's true or not, we'll find out by going and seeing. We're going to the same place anyway, so there's no harm in going and seeing." At first, Lu Ming didn't want to disappoint Lu Qingsi, but Lu Qingsi ended up comforting him instead.
"Okay, let's go take a look." And so their direction was decided: south!
Lu Ming wasn't tall, but he had thick eyebrows, big eyes, and a square face that easily made him likable, attracting the attention of many young girls along the way. Lu Ming was already in his fifties or sixties, and he considered himself an old man, so naturally he had no interest in these worldly young girls.
It was indeed much more lively here than on the quiet mountain. As soon as Lu Qingsi arrived and saw the bustling crowds on the street, she couldn't hide her smile. It was so lively here! Although she liked it, she seemed to yearn for the quiet times of the past.
Lu Qingsi was so engrossed in looking elsewhere that she didn't pay much attention to where she was going. Suddenly, a child rushed over and bumped into her.
He burst into tears, instantly drawing everyone's attention.
"Are you alright?" Lu Qingsi quickly bent down and picked him up, patting the dirt off his body.
The little guy was already crying very sadly, and when he saw Lu Qingsi's appearance, he cried even louder. The noise startled his mother, and a young-looking woman rushed over from the crowd: "Little Bao, don't cry, Little Bao, don't cry."
The child snuggled closer to her and called out with a very aggrieved tone, "Mom."
As if she had received some kind of imperial decree, the young woman immediately stood up and glared fiercely at Lu Qingsi: "How do you walk? My son is so young and you knocked him down. Can you take responsibility if something happens to him?"
"I was walking so slowly, there was no way I could have bumped into him. He was just being careless," Lu Qingsi defended herself.
"My son is so young, what does he know? But you're such a grown woman, don't you know how to watch where you're going? Ugly people are always causing trouble!" The woman glared at Lu Qingsi, then picked up her son and tried to leave.
But she had only taken one step when Lu Ming stopped her.
Lu Ming was also walking around, looking around, and was a little behind Lu Qingsi. However, he was able to see clearly what had just happened. He didn't expect that this woman would be so unreasonable. It was clearly her son who was running around and accidentally bumped into someone, but she was now turning the tables and blaming Lu Qingsi.
Seeing that the woman was about to leave, Lu Ming immediately reached out and stopped her.
"What do you want to do? Do you think you can lay a hand on a woman like me in broad daylight?" She took a few steps back while holding the child, looking at Lu Ming with a wary expression, as if he were some heinous criminal.
Lu Ming said calmly, "I just want to reason with you."
"What do you mean? Was what I just said unreasonable?" the woman said arrogantly, raising her chin.
