Since they all knew that person was suspicious, they would definitely take some action. However, looking at their current numb expressions, Lu Qingsi knew that their plan was doomed to fail.
"Sigh, we all knew that woman was suspicious, maybe she was some kind of monster in disguise. So we went to the Taoist temple on the mountain to ask for Taoist priests and monks from the temple, but we couldn't kill her. All the experts we invited got killed. The monster knew that no one could deal with her, so she became more and more rampant. Every night she would bring a man from town to her place, and the next day she would throw out a human skin."
He spoke while grimacing, clearly terrified.
"Why are you still here? Aren't you going to hide somewhere else?" Lu Qingsi asked.
“No one would dare to do that. At first, some people tried to hide, but their entire families were murdered, so no one dared to do it anymore.” He leaned closer to Lu Qingsi and Lu Ming and said, “Although you are outsiders, now that you’re here, you probably can’t hide. Of course, there are exceptions. Some people have come here and left unharmed. Whether you can succeed or not depends on your luck. If you two are alright after tonight, you should leave here as soon as possible.”
Lu Ming clasped his hands in thanks and said, "Thank you for the reminder, young man."
He and Lu Qingsi exchanged a silent glance, both reaffirming their resolve: they must rid the people of this scourge!
According to this young man, this monster must have harmed many people here. We can't let her continue to be so arrogant, or who knows how many more people will fall victim to her evil deeds.
Lu Ming asked, "Could you tell us where this monster lives?"
Lu Qingsi asked curiously, "I've seen quite a few women on my way here, but very few men. You seem to be the right age. Why didn't the monster capture you?"
A hint of embarrassment flashed across the vendor's face, but he retorted in a defiant manner, "Even monsters have their own tastes!"
After saying that, he advised Lu Ming, "What do you mean by asking me where that monster lives? What are you trying to do? You don't want to lose your life and go hang out with that monster, do you? You can't do that."
Touched by his kindness, Lu Ming explained, "We're here for the first time and don't know what to do. We're just afraid we might go to the wrong place and wanted to ask you, young man."
The vendor nodded knowingly: "That's good. Just don't do anything rash and go to that place!" He gave Lu Ming one last piece of advice and then told him where the place was.
Lu Ming hadn't expected that the monster actually lived in the very center of the town.
After saying goodbye to the vendors, Lu Qingsi and Lu Ming walked down the street, discussing the monster together.
"Brother, what do you think?" Lu Qingsi asked, feeling that she should ask Lu Ming first.
Lu Ming pondered for a moment and said, "This situation seems to have been recorded in the sect's books."
Lu Qingsi nodded and continued, "Yes, there have been several recorded cases. In those records, it was either a fox or a snake that did this."
"Haven't you figured everything out? Why are you asking me again?" Lu Ming asked, puzzled.
"Of course I know that, but I want to ask you, brother, what do you think will appear this time?"
"How would I know?" Lu Ming said helplessly. "We'll only have a chance to find out after we beat her."
