On this day, Lu Qingsi finished tidying up her makeup and calmly pushed open the door. She saw Rong Xu standing tall and elegant, with his hands behind his back, standing in the courtyard in a daze. In front of him were piles of books and ancient books, all of which were from his study.
Lu Qingsi smiled inwardly, assuming that Rong Xu had come to his senses, and stepped forward to ask, "What are you doing, my husband?"
When Rong Xu saw her come out, he spoke slowly and gently, his voice as warm as jade, yet also carrying a sense of despondency and confusion: "I plan to burn some mundane things."
Upon hearing this, Lu Qingsi was shocked and hurriedly asked, "What?"
Rong Xu took her hand and smiled slightly, "I'm not going to study anymore, I'm not going to take the exam, and I don't plan to stay here to teach. I'll just stay here with you. What do I need these things for?"
Lu Qingsi opened her eyes wide, seemingly too shocked to speak.
Rong Xu remained calm throughout, as if he had only said something insignificant and done something insignificant.
Lu Qingsi immediately realized that Wang Xing'an still felt somewhat guilty about what had happened.
Wang Xing'an was so filial to him, so incredibly filial. Rong Xu couldn't forget how well-behaved he was back then. If he had paid more attention back then, perhaps things wouldn't have turned out this way.
"Husband, if you burn all of this, what will our children look at in the future?" Lu Qingsi asked softly, and Rong Xu froze.
However, he quickly relaxed and said with a wry smile, "I can't even teach those children who are already old enough to understand things, let alone our children..."
"Don't you like him?" Lu Qingsi asked Rong Xu.
"Qingsi, I love you, and I love our child too," Rong Xu said. He watched as Wang Xing'an's body was placed in the coffin, and a slight fear arose for the unborn child.
Such fragile lives, gone in the blink of an eye.
"Then what do you have to be afraid of?" Lu Qingsi looked at Rong Xu with a smile, and took his hand and placed it on her bulging belly.
As soon as Rong Xu placed it on, he felt something push against him, and his movements instantly became even more stiff.
This is his child, his blood relative!
Rong Xu happily reached out and hugged Lu Qingsi, as if he were embracing the whole world. All her joys and sorrows were for him, and so were his: "Qingsi, I will always be with you."
“I will always be with you,” Lu Qingsi said.
Two months later, Lu Qingsi gave birth to a boy safely.
Rong Xu held the child who bore a resemblance to him, his trembling hands almost unable to support her. Watching basin after basin of bloody water being brought out of the house, his heart leaped into his throat. Finally, hearing that voice reporting that everyone was safe, he nearly collapsed from exhaustion.
With one more person in the family, the burden of life became a bit heavier, but life remained sweet, and before we knew it, the child could crawl.
After giving birth, Lu Qingsi became even more beautiful than before, and every time she appeared in public, people would gossip about her behind her back.
From a distance, Lu Qingsi pretended not to hear anything.
With the school gone, Rong Xu could now devote himself entirely to teaching the baby. After much deliberation, he named the baby Rong Mu.
Every time I call my baby, I feel an indescribable sense of satisfaction.
Such a simple and happy life wouldn't have been bad if it continued. But one day, disaster struck again.
The autumn wind was a bit chilly. Lu Qingsi and her family of three were sound asleep when they heard rustling sounds outside.
