“I’m sure I’m talking about that girl. If she weren’t stingy, why would she go out of her way to buy that infamous haunted house? It’s just a matter of spending less money, right? If she lived in the same courtyard as me, I would only charge her a little rent at most.”
Ye Li got up, opened a bottle of wine, poured it into a glass, and swirled it around.
"Stop drinking. You know your own body condition. You should take better care of yourself." Rong Qing snatched his wine glass and placed it on the table.
Ye Li looked at it, but didn't take it back.
“The story about the burial site is false,” Rong Qing said.
"You know?" Ye Li smirked. "Whether it's true or not, it's true that people died there. And those houses are definitely not built according to general rules; they're unsettling to live in. That girl choosing to live there, isn't she just being foolish?"
The dim-witted Lu Qingyan returned to her new home, rummaged through drawers and cabinets to find paper and pen, and then drew out the clothing style she had in mind.
Lu Qingyan could hardly remember how long it had been since she last picked up a paintbrush. Her painting skills had deteriorated considerably, but she could still make out the details clearly.
After staying up all night, Lu Qingyan drew about ten design sketches.
The next morning, when Xiao Zao came to find Lu Qingyan, he was startled to see her with a pair of dark eyes: "Miss, what happened to you?"
"It's nothing, I just slept too late last night." Actually, she hadn't slept at all last night. Lu Qingyan shook her slightly dizzy head: "Go and make me some porridge first, I'll sleep a little longer, wake me up in the afternoon."
"Okay," Xiaozhao replied and went to get busy.
In the afternoon, Lu Qingyan woke up. Xiaozhao went out to find out some information and came back to tell Lu Qingyan.
Lu Qingyan sipped her porridge, listening to Xiaozao say, "Miss, I went out and inquired today. If we buy a shop, it will cost at least seven or eight hundred yuan. If we rent it, it will cost forty or fifty yuan a month. So it's more cost-effective to just buy. There are quite a few clothing stores around here. If we go into that business, we probably won't make much money..."
Finally, Xiaozhao concluded with a dejected look, "Miss, maybe we should just give up. We should save that money and wait for the young master to come looking for us."
Lu Qingyan rolled her eyes: "What if he doesn't come looking for us? What will we do after all this money is spent? Xiaozhao, I won't be able to support you then. Do you want me to sell you to someone else?"
In the last sentence, Lu Qingyan was deliberately trying to scare him.
Xiaozao was so frightened that she shook her head repeatedly: "Miss, Xiaozao wants to follow you and doesn't want to go anywhere."
“We have enough money to open a shop, but I might be a little short on cash.” Lu Qingyan finished the last mouthful of porridge and put the bowl on the table. “Let’s go, let’s go out and collect debts.”
"Are we going to see the young master?" Xiaozhao blurted out, but realizing her slip of the tongue, she quickly covered her mouth: "Miss, it's all my fault, I misspoke. We're going to see Mr. Lu Yanjun, right?"
Lu Qingyan smiled and said, "Of course we're going to find him. He did sign an IOU, and if he doesn't pay it back, I won't let him get away with it."
"But, Miss, didn't we say we'd give him some time? It's only been two days, and we're already coming to his door again..."
