Su Han looked relaxed and at ease. He casually placed the half-finished teacup back on the small table in front of the bed, then took the book that Yun Yi offered and flipped through it absentmindedly.
After handing the book to her master, Yunyi stepped aside and stood quietly. Before bowing her head, she glanced at the green-clad figure's back, and then showed no other unusual behavior.
Su Han lowered his eyes to read, a slight smile playing on his lips. "This child is teachable," he thought. "That's one good thing about Yunyi; though a bit slow, she never acts clever. That's so endearing!"
The woman in green served fresh tea again, replacing the old cup of tea that the Eighth Miss had never touched on the small table in front of the bed.
Turning around, her heart pounded like a drum, and she could no longer control herself. She gently lifted the lid of the teacup and glanced at it.
I drank half a cup of tea.
The heart that had been pounding in the air in the green dress immediately settled back into place. She was overjoyed, and the corners of her lips, which had been pursed, couldn't help but curve into a smile. It was finally done!
Green-clad woman suppressed the upturned corners of her lips, adjusted her facial expression, and returned to her normal demeanor. She calmly held the tea tray and handed it to the little maid who came forward.
Su Han read another thin book, and after some time had passed since the sun set, he finally put the book down.
"Alright, let's get some rest early tonight." Su Han stretched his neck slightly, stood up, and walked towards the inner room.
She was a little tired after reading all day. Her two personal maids, Yunyi and Luyi, quickly followed her back to the inner room. A junior maid brought hot water, and the two maids then helped their mistress wash up and go to bed.
Tonight, Yunyi was on night duty in the inner room. Green Robe glanced back and saw Yunyi opening the bedding in front of the embroidery bed. She pursed her lips, silently withdrew, and left.
Only the mistress and servant remained in the inner room. Yunyi tidied up the bedding, blew out the candle, crawled into bed, and lay there for a long while before hesitantly speaking, keeping her voice very low.
"Miss, Miss, are you asleep?"
Yunyi had some things on her mind and wanted to ask Suhan about them.
"Not yet, what's wrong?" Su Han asked, turning over.
"Miss, I feel that Green Dress is acting a bit strange today." Yunyi wasn't very smart, but she was observant and still noticed Green Dress's unusual behavior.
"It's nothing, I'm probably just a little tired these past few days, don't worry about it," Su Han comforted her. "Go to sleep."
Yunyi is simple-minded and sentimental, and she doesn't intend to let Yunyi know about these things.
She opened the door to the main room, stepped out, and a gust of cold wind blew by. It was very cold outside, and she shivered violently as she came out of the warm and cozy room.
She tightened her clothes, cursed under her breath, and hurried a few steps toward her room.
Recently, for some reason, the Eighth Miss's attitude towards her seems to have changed. Even though she still doesn't like her, Green Robe can still keenly sense the difference.
This difference made the woman in green feel somewhat uneasy.
Green-clad was lost in thought and hurried along the way. After a while, she returned to her room in the back building. Pushing open the door, a wave of warmth greeted her, and Green-clad breathed a sigh of relief.
The candles in the room had already been lit, and the charcoal tray was burning brightly. It used high-quality charcoal, which was long-lasting, smokeless, and not choking at all.
"Sister Green Robe, you're back." A maid who was tidying up inside heard the door open, turned around and saw Green Robe return to the room. She quickly put down her work and asked, "Let me fetch you some water to wash up so you can rest early. It's so cold today."
Green-clad nodded, watching as the maidservant quickly arranged her things and went out to fetch water.
