Madam Song was somewhat troubled: "Although we've known each other for so many years, I know Mu Ran's personality very well. Of course, I'd be happy if they could be together, but if I agree to your proposal here, and then my daughter falls for someone else, how am I supposed to explain that to you?"
Madam Qin looked at Lu Qingyan with feigned threat: "Jiao'er, tell me, do you want to marry your Brother Qin?"
If it were Song Jiao, her marriage to Qin Muran would be a match made in heaven, and no one could take it away from her. But now it's Lu Qingyan; she can only marry that person.
"Auntie, what are you saying? I've always thought of him as my brother, how could I ever think of marrying him?" When the topic of marriage came up, Lu Qingyan didn't blush at all and spoke frankly: "I was originally thinking of having him be my best man when I got married."
Madam Qin's smile faded slightly, but she wasn't angry. Fate is a delicate matter; it can't be forced.
"I think Mu Ran is quite good, it's just that you don't know how lucky you are." Song's mother reached out and tapped Lu Qingyan on the head, saying with a hint of disappointment.
Lu Qingyan frankly admitted, "Actually, I already have someone I like."
"Who have you taken a fancy to? Do you think I don't know who you've been with since you were little? Who can compare to your brother Qin?" In Song's mother's eyes, Qin Muran was like half a son to her, so naturally he was the best of everyone.
Lu Qingyan retorted, "That guy isn't bad either! You'll like him once you meet him. I'll go out and bring him back for you right now."
Taking advantage of Song's mother's inattention, Lu Qingyan got up and ran away in a flash.
Mother Song took a deep breath and pointed to the half-open door, saying, "This child, he just woke up and is already causing so much trouble, he doesn't even give us old folks any peace of mind."
Madam Qin patted her hand: "You're still young, don't talk nonsense about being old. If you ask me, you and Lao Song should put aside your business and take a good rest for a while. Don't overwork yourselves. Jiao'er has finally woken up, and from what I heard from her, her marriage is on the horizon. You two can just wait to hold your grandson, and in another twenty or thirty years, you'll hold your great-grandson."
Song's mother smiled and said with emotion, "Yes, her father and I both have to take good care of our health. Since what happened to Jiao'er, her father and I have been even busier, thinking that we should earn more money and take good care of her no matter what, even if it means going bankrupt."
"Luckily she's awake now, otherwise I don't know what I might have done."
Madam Qin shook her head: "If it were a natural disaster, that would be one thing, but what's truly alarming is that someone deliberately harmed Jiao'er. I don't know the source of the evidence I gave you, but the person who did it was indeed caught last night. Your husband, Old Song, must have received the news; he'll be back soon. We'll see what your family plans to do in court."
A ruthless glint flashed in Madam Song's eyes: "If she dares to touch my daughter, I will make her wish she were dead."
Madam Qin comforted her, saying, "If you just say the word, I will do my best to avenge Jiao'er."
Song's mother tried to shake the bad thoughts out of her mind and stopped talking about these heavy topics. Instead, she reminisced about the past: "When we were in school together, I was thinking about making you our in-laws, but Jiao'er is a stubborn child. You should hurry up and find someone for your Muran. Then we'll see if our grandchildren are destined to be together."
"You!" Madam Qin teased, "Are you really trying to cling to our Qin family? I remember when we were kids, our Mu Ran always took the blame for your little darling."
