Ren Fengyue couldn't possibly be unaware of the huge commotion caused by Ren Fengyan. He rushed to Ren Quran's side as soon as he came down from the school and asked gloatingly, "Father, is the news about the Fourth Princess true? That annoying girl, is something really wrong with her?"
Perhaps because he was still young, he didn't know how to hide his emotions. He looked sad on the surface, but his eyes were full of joy.
Alas, it's a real pity he hasn't yet learned the essence of his father's teachings.
Ren Quran pulled him back, scolding him, "How can you talk like that? Yan'er is your own sister. Now that she's in trouble, you don't even show a little sadness. What will others say about this?"
"How can I not be sad?" Ren Fengyue pouted and said, "Father, look how wronged I am. If you say a few more words to me, I'll start crying."
"Alright, you little rascal. Just don't let anyone see you like this." Ren Quran tapped Ren Fengyue's head with his index finger and shooed her inside: "You should go inside and study more, so you won't be unable to answer when your mother tests you."
"Yes, Father," Ren Fengyue replied obediently.
Lu Qingyan was still studying in the school. She didn't need to look at much else, but she absolutely had to go through those history books. The former director, with his romantic escapades, was destined to become an emperor, and she couldn't let others gloss over the past with vague accounts.
Hua Yeyu nodded in agreement: "Your Highness is working exceptionally hard these days, and I'm sure it won't be long before you catch up on all the lessons you've missed."
Hua Yeyu was extremely pleased to have such a clever disciple and master, as if the present moment was the hope for tomorrow.
After thinking for a moment, he added, "Learning these things is very mentally taxing. Your Highness should take care of your health and not overwork yourself."
Lu Qingyan smiled and teased, "Didn't you expect me to be the most hardworking, sir? So you actually care about others? I don't find doing these things tiring at all, so please rest assured, sir."
Hua Yeyu nodded, quite satisfied.
He went outside and greeted Hua Yeshuang, who had just arrived: "Brother, look how serious she is."
Hua Yeshuang narrowed her eyes: "If she didn't have this personality, we wouldn't have chosen her."
Hua Yeyu said, "At her current pace, if she really finishes reading all those books, the two of us will become mere handymen."
Hua Yeshuang said indifferently, "So what?"
Hua Yeyu was taken aback, then smiled helplessly: "Brother, you know perfectly well that's not what I meant. Of course, the smarter the master you serve, the better. I'm just worried that when that day comes, you won't be able to bear it."
His elder brother cherishes talent the most, and if things really came to that, the relationship between the brothers would probably suffer. He didn't want things to go that way.
Hua Yeshuang was very open-minded and turned to comfort Hua Yeyu: "Since we have such a destiny, we should naturally try our best. You are not me, so how could you know my final fate?"
Hua Yeyu looked through the wooden window at Lu Qingyan, who was now as round as a ball, and sighed. Hopefully, he was overthinking it.
Lu Qingyan stood ramrod straight across the window; her out-of-shape figure couldn't dampen her ambition. Her brushstrokes flowed like dragons and snakes; those outside couldn't make out what she wrote, but they could see the confidence in her eyes.
Sunrise and sunset, another night has passed. A cool breeze rustles the leaves, and even the birdsong has diminished.
Unbeknownst to everyone sleeping soundly, the man in black who killed the Fourth Princess Ren Fengyan quietly drifted down into the courtyard of the Fourth Princess's residence.
