Lu Qingyan nodded: "It is quite a coincidence."
With Su Meiren's help, Lu Qingyan was much faster.
After finishing her work, Su Meiren exaggeratedly lay on the bed and said, "Oh dear, I'm so tired. Xiao Xin'er, you have to treat me to a good meal this time."
Lu Qingyan smiled and agreed: "Would I possibly refuse to eat a meal? Tell me, what would you like to eat today, my beauty?"
Su Meiren stared at the ceiling for a while before her eyes lit up and she said, "The stir-fried dishes at that restaurant outside yesterday were pretty good, let's go there."
Just as Lu Qingyan was about to agree, her phone rang. She took it out and saw that it was Xi Bo calling.
Are you done yet?
Lu Qingyan felt that Xi Bo's voice sounded even better than usual when it came from the other end of the phone.
"Alright, shall we go eat now?" The thought of Su Meiren sitting next to her and Xi Bo felt strange.
"You go first," Xi Bo said. "There's this guy in the dorm who's really persistent, insisting on taking everyone out for a drink. I can't get away for now."
Lu Qingyan laughed and said, "I really didn't expect there would be someone who would be so difficult for you to deal with."
On the other end, Xi Bo gritted his teeth and said, "I really didn't expect him to be such an eyesore. I haven't seen him get close to anyone else, he just keeps coming over to me."
Lu Qingyan chuckled twice: "Alright then, you stay here and take care of the baby. I ran into a classmate here and we'll go over together."
Xi Bo asked nervously, "A woman?"
"Of course. I'll hang up now!"
Lu Qingyan turned off her phone, and Su Meiren stood beside her, winking at her: "Tell me honestly, do you have a boyfriend?"
"How did you know?" Lu Qingyan pinched her burning cheeks.
"Looking at you now, it would be a problem if I couldn't guess," Su Meiren sighed. "I really didn't expect a good student like you to be in a relationship so early. You're so close now, you must have known each other since high school, or maybe even junior high. I thought you would study hard, find a good job, and then get married under your family's arrangement."
Lu Qingyan laughed and scolded, "Nonsense, life isn't as boring as you make it out to be!"
Su Meiren disagreed: "But I think life is just so boring. I'm like a puppet in my dad's hands now, doing everything according to his wishes. There's no fun in it at all."
After finishing their meal, the sky was already turning yellow. Lu Qingyan wanted to go back to her dorm to rest for a while, while Su Meiren wanted to go for a walk outside.
Su Meiren waved her hand to indicate to Lu Qingyan not to worry about her: "You should go back now. I'll stay outside a little longer by myself. I'm a grown woman, what are you worried about?"
"This is our first time here, and we don't know anyone here. How can I leave you alone? Let's go back to the dorm first."
"Ouch!" Su Meiren broke free from Lu Qingyan's grasp. "I just didn't want someone controlling me, that's why I was going out for a walk. You're not allowed to pull me anymore, or I'll break off all ties with you!!!"
Su Meiren spoke very angrily, and Lu Qingyan dared not move.
But I still offered a word of advice: "Alright, you can be alone then, just remember to come back early." As long as you come back early, there shouldn't be any problems.
Su Meiren agreed.
I don't know how she got there. It was quite a while after dark, when all the noise had stopped, before she came back from outside.
There was no one on the dark path. The light was very close to her, yet it seemed far away because of its dim glow.
