Chapter 401 Seizing Fortune 12.49

In the early autumn, when the summer heat lingers, the sun shines brightly during the day, but it cools down considerably at night.

When Su Meiren went out, she was wearing a cool dress, but now it was getting a bit cold on her way back.

A cold wind blew by, and goosebumps rose on her exposed arms.

"Achoo!" As she walked, she couldn't help but sneeze, as if she saw a white shadow float past her.

"Who is it?" Su Meiren mustered her courage and took a few steps forward, only to find that there was no one there at all.

Only the wind rustles the grass and the shadows of the trees sway.

She immediately breathed a sigh of relief: "What? They didn't even think to change the light bulb to a brighter one. This dark light is too scary."

Su Meiren continued walking forward, but after only two steps she suddenly realized that she had no shadow.

The overhead lights were indeed dim, but not so dim that they couldn't illuminate a person's shadow!

Su Meiren's legs trembled slightly as images of horror movies she and her childhood friends watched together flooded her mind.

Just then, a childlike, ethereal voice came from behind her: "Turn around and look at me!"

"Ah—!" Su Meiren was so frightened by the sound that she didn't dare to turn around. She took off running, but she kept feeling that something was chasing her from behind.

The campus was vast, and she wasn't very familiar with it, so she didn't know where to run. But compared to the unpredictable dangers behind her, she could only run with all her might. All she could hear was the howling wind. She ran for a long time without encountering a single person.

The ethereal voice still echoed behind her, chasing after Su Meiren with a grin, asking her, "Why are you running? Why are you running?" and urging her, "Stay, stay here!"

Su Meiren was nervously descending the stairs when she missed a step and fell to the ground.

Just as she was about to get up and run again, she saw a pair of feet wearing red embroidered shoes floating in front of her, and the eerie laughter got even closer.

"Get away from me! Don't come any closer! Don't come any closer!!" Su Meiren's voice changed with fright. She tried to back up, using both her hands and feet, but she was too anxious to stand up.

Looking up, he saw the figure of a woman, half her face blood-red and the other half snow-white. Her pupils were tinged with blue, her face was pale, and a string of bloody tears flowed from her eyes.

She smiled and said to Su Meiren, "Life is so painful, why do you still want to stay here? Give me everything you have now!"

"Ah—!" Su Meiren cried out, her raised arm blocking her view, and she saw nothing.

Are you alright?

Su Meiren heard a very pleasant voice, opened her eyes and saw a handsome man with exquisite features beside her.

"Ah—!" Su Meiren lunged forward to hug the person, but was nimbly dodged, and she almost fell to the ground again because she used too much force.

Su Meiren pouted: She was a great beauty now, yet some boys were still avoiding her and wouldn't let her get close.

"It seems you're alright, so I'll be going now. Be careful in the future, and don't stay outside after dark," the person advised.

"Who, who are you?" Su Meiren asked, realizing what was happening. She absolutely had to find out how to contact this handsome guy before she even started pursuing him!

Besides, he was also her savior. If he hadn't suddenly appeared here, she would definitely have been killed by that female ghost.
