Chapter 504 Magical Slaughter 14.24

I'm so tired. Magic isn't working. Do I really have to stick a talisman on like they do on TV?

Lu Qingyan had a flash of inspiration and conjured two talismans to stick on their foreheads. However, the two zombies continued to move as nimbly as before, without any change.

"Could it be that my magic wand is about to lose its power, so the talismans I conjure are not working?" Lu Qingyan couldn't help but think this. She called out to Bai Su, "Conjure two more talismans like the ones I just conjured and try again."

Bai Su tried again, but their movements remained unchanged.

It seems this trick won't work. Seeing that the magic wand was about to give way, Lu Qingyan quickly shouted to Bai Su again, "Convert a huge pile of raw glutinous rice."

Lu Qingyan flipped over and hid behind Bai Su, grabbing a handful of glutinous rice and throwing it at the two zombies. Thank goodness, this time it finally worked! The rice instantly produced smoke upon hitting the zombies, then turned completely black when it landed on the ground. The zombies let out a strange cry, took several steps back, and charged towards them again, baring their teeth and claws.

"Hurry up, conjure up more." Lu Qingyan patted Bai Su's shoulder affectionately, "Conjure up some more mugwort leaves and see if it works."

Looking at the pile of mugwort leaves on the ground, Lu Qingyan helplessly placed her half-broken magic wand on it: "Good buddy, it seems you can only be used as a lighter now."

With a hiss, the mugwort leaf was lit, and a puff of white smoke rose up. Lu Qingyan covered her nose and sneezed: "This smell is really pungent."

Although the smell was a bit pungent, these mugwort leaves were still somewhat effective compared to those useless talismans. The zombies, smelling the aroma, no longer charged forward despite the potential damage, as they had when encountering glutinous rice; instead, they finally fled.

Bai Su, whose arms were aching from throwing glutinous rice, glanced at the pile of mugwort leaves emitting white smoke and laughed, "This is much more useful than glutinous rice."

After saying that, he conjured up a small incense burner that could be carried, filled it with the mugwort leaves, and handed it to Lu Qingyan, saying lazily, "Let's go, little lantern boy. Who knows what awaits us ahead."

Lu Qingyan rolled her eyes but still obediently carried the things and followed behind him. As they walked further, they encountered piles of skeletons.

Lu Qingyan walked step by step in that direction and saw a badge on the ground.

Lu Qingyan remembered that the badge was an honor of the magic school, and besides her and Chu Jia, only one other person had ever had it.

That person was Xiao Han, who had placed third twice. Judging from the color of the bones, it was a long time ago, so it couldn't be Chu Jia; it must be Xiao Han. Although You Yan wasn't familiar with Xiao Han, she still remembered his appearance and name.

Unexpectedly, when I met an old friend again, it was a separation by death.

The skeleton was somewhat scattered, but it was still clear that there were two people. Even as bones, they held each other's hands tightly and never let go.

Bai Su chuckled softly and looked at Lu Qingyan, saying, "Youyan, if we can't get out of here and are destined to die, will you still hold my hand and not let go?"

Lu Qingyan paused, turned around, and smiled brightly: "What nonsense are you talking about? We are the best partners, how could we be trapped in a place like this? We will definitely get out."

“Yes, we’ll definitely get out,” Bai Su smiled, her voice barely audible, “But, I’m just saying if!”
