"Boatman, wait!" Bai Zhenzhen called out in that direction, and the boatman, seeing that the boat hadn't gone far, returned.
"Are you two ladies also going to board the boat?" The boatman, having just experienced such a thrilling ordeal, was still all smiles, in excellent spirits.
“Yes, sir, we sisters are also getting on the boat, why don’t you give us a ride?” Lu Qingyan saw through Bai Zhenzhen’s thoughts and spoke first.
The old boatman laughed heartily: "Haha, this old man doesn't care, the key is whether this gentleman on the boat is willing or not?"
"It is my honor to travel with you two beautiful ladies." The scholar at the bow of the boat stood up, bowed, and then sat back down properly.
After the boat had been sailing for a while, large raindrops began to fall. The boatman, dressed in a straw raincoat, didn't seem to mind, but Lu Qingyan, Bai Zhenzhen, and the scholar had no choice but to take shelter in the cabin.
The boat itself wasn't big, and the cabin was even smaller. The three of them were huddled together so close that their breaths mingled. The man, who was probably very reserved, blushed after glancing at Bai Zhenzhen even once.
"Hey, what's your name?" Bai Zhenzhen asked him, without the slightest bit of shyness typical of young women these days.
The scholar replied in a low voice, "My name is Xu Xian."
"Xu Xian, your name is quite nice." Bai Zhenzhen rested her chin on her hands, staring intently at him. After a while, she asked again, "Are you married?"
"Huh?" The scholar Xu Xian blushed even more, and he scratched his head blankly: "Miss, I am not yet married."
Lu Qingyan reached out and pulled Bai Zhenzhen back, then whispered to her, "Sister, you already know his name, why are you asking if he's married or not?"
"I didn't do anything, I just asked because I thought he was funny."
"But sister, if you're being too direct, people will think you want to marry him."
"Really?" Bai Zhenzhen blinked, finally stopping her pestering Xu Xian to talk.
Upon arriving at Qingbo Gate, Xu Xian disembarked, and Bai Zhenzhen followed suit. She had originally been with Xu Xian, so naturally she wanted to go with him.
The rain had lessened, but it was still falling. Xu Xian handed over an umbrella he was carrying: "My home is nearby, I'll be there soon. Please lend this umbrella to the two young ladies for now, you can return it when you have the chance."
Bai Zhenzhen smiled and said, "If I can't find you again, this umbrella is mine."
Bai Zhenzhen's smile was beautiful, and under the rain, Xu Xian was even more mesmerized. Against this backdrop, Lu Qingyan watched them gaze at each other with deep affection.
As expected, the White Snake and Xu Xian are a perfect couple; no amount of trying to separate them can break them up. *Ahem*, I almost forgot my mission isn't to break up a couple, it's just to find my dream guy.
"Sister, shouldn't we go back to the mountains?" Lu Qingyan urged from behind Bai Zhenzhen. She really disliked Xu Xian, the male protagonist; he was cowardly and incompetent. If it weren't for him, Bai Suzhen in "The Legend of the White Snake" wouldn't have suffered so much.
Lu Qingyan failed to wake Bai Zhenzhen, but Xu Xian took his leave first: "I still have family waiting for me at home, so I will take my leave now."
After everyone left, Bai Zhenzhen was still staring at his retreating figure: "How can there be such an interesting person?"
Lu Qingyan pursed her lips, thinking: I don't see what's interesting about this.
“Sister, let’s go back to the mountains,” Lu Qingyan said again.
"What's so great about Little Green Hill? We've finally come all this way, why not stay here a few more days?" Bai Zhenzhen pleaded, holding out both hands: "Ten days, just ten days and then we'll leave."
