Looking at Grandpa Wen's aged face, Lu Qingyan felt a surge of warmth in her heart.
As the city lights began to twinkle, it was indeed quite late. Unfortunately, the starry sky in the city seemed to be obscured by something, and the beautiful twinkling stars could not be seen at all.
Lu Qingyan wandered aimlessly down the street, watching the people and traffic around her.
Suddenly, a car stopped in front of her. Lu Qingyan looked up and, sure enough, it was her big boss, Lu Mingyuan.
Mr. Lu wasn't particularly surprised to see Lu Qingyan; it was as if he had been waiting for her all along.
"Miss Wen," Lu Mingyuan suddenly called out to her, "Get in the car, I'll take you home."
Since this was practically her future husband anyway, Lu Qingyan sat down without any hesitation and asked in surprise, "Mr. Lu, what brings you here?"
Lu Mingyuan's home is not in this direction, and he doesn't have the habit of discussing business with anyone after work hours.
She had a vague guess, but still wanted to hear him say the answer himself.
Could it be that Lu Mingyuan had long harbored feelings for Wen Wan in this so-called contract marriage?
Upon hearing Lu Qingyan's question, Lu Mingyuan turned his face away and coldly replied, "I was just passing by and saw you here, so I offered you a ride. So, did you sign it?"
Lu Qingyan blinked and teased, "It's my honor to be able to marry Mr. Lu."
Then, Lu Qingyan clearly saw that the person's ears turned red.
There was a moment of silence. Luckily, there was no traffic, and they arrived at the entrance of the residential area in less than half an hour. The area is quite strictly managed; non-resident cars are not allowed inside, so Mr. Lu could only drop Lu Qingyan off at the gate.
"Should we go up and get it now?" Lu Qingyan asked him, tilting her head.
Lu Mingyuan straightened his tie and hurriedly agreed: "Okay, we'll be spending a lot of time together from now on, so we should get to know each other better. I haven't been to your house yet, so let's go and have a chat!"
The high-rise buildings in the area just inside were all recently built, and their colors are still quite vibrant. Further inside is the Wen family home. Because it was purchased a long time ago, it looks somewhat old from the outside, and every corner exudes an air of age.
Actually, it wasn't built for a particularly long time, but the architecture has changed a lot over the years.
Lu Mingyuan didn't show any disgust when he saw Lu Qingyan enter.
“The location is good; you have good taste in buying this house,” Mr. Lu praised. “I remember more than ten years ago, this location was relatively remote. Although many houses had been built here, not many people were willing to buy them.” Even if someone was willing to buy, it was probably because the house prices here were relatively cheap.
Lu Mingyuan didn't say the last sentence aloud, but he knew that Wen Wan's situation was similar to the latter.
Lu Qingyan nodded: "I don't understand these things, it's all because Grandpa has good judgment."
When Grandpa Wen bought the house, he was already over fifty years old. He was worried that he would have difficulty walking as he got older, and he was also concerned that the house would not be well lit if it was too low, so he bought a house on the second floor.
Lu Qingyan and Lu Mingyuan arrived shortly after exchanging only a few words.
Lu Qingyan took out her key and opened the door, revealing a cozy little house to Lu Mingyuan.
The house is quite large, but it doesn't feel cold or deserted because of its size. The sofa, TV, coffee table, stools... are all arranged neatly, and even though it was bought a long time ago, it's not worn out.
