Chapter 606 Contractual Marriage 16.35

Although she had agreed to Lu Mingyuan's request, Lu Qingyan still felt uneasy.

There may be countless coincidences in this world, and one kind of coincidence is the result of careful planning and scheming.

When Lu Qingyan returned home, she did not see her mother-in-law and father-in-law as rumored.

As dusk approached, someone finally knocked on the door. Aunt Jiang quickly opened it and greeted them warmly, "The old gentleman and lady are back? And this is...?"

A questioning gaze fell on the girl, who simply smiled sweetly: "Hello, Aunt Jiang. I often hear uncles and aunts mention you. I'm so happy to meet you today. You are just as I imagined, beautiful, gentle, and very capable."

These words made the aunt a little embarrassed. She forced a smile and said, "Oh my, you have such a sweet tongue, come in, come in."

Aunt Jiang quickly took the bags and packages from behind her, invited the person in, and poured them tea.

Lu Qingyan looked at the young and beautiful woman in front of her and the familiar face beside her, and still greeted her, "Mom, Miss Jin." Turning her head, she called out to the gentle-looking man, "Dad."

The woman glanced at Lu Qingyan sideways, seemingly looking down on her, but Lu's father agreed very readily, with tears of excitement even glistening in the corners of his eyes.

Mrs. Lu glared at Lu Qingyan: "You're the woman my son married? You're neither pretty nor have a good figure. I really don't know what my son saw in you?"

Qingyan helplessly spread her hands: "Perhaps it's because there are fewer of us than others that your son chose me." She spoke very softly, thinking that others might not hear her, but somehow, Lu's mother heard her clearly.

“I raised my son from a young age, and I know him perfectly well.” Mrs. Lu raised her chin slightly, looking arrogant. “He wouldn’t have such poor taste to fall for someone like you. I wonder if you used some underhanded tricks.”

"Honey, say less!" Mr. Lu advised from the side. "No matter what, she's already married into the family. Life goes on. What's there to argue about?"

"Uncle Lu, please don't blame Auntie." The obedient girl came out and surrounded Lu's mother, looking at her with bright eyes to calm her anger at her son for acting on his own initiative.

"Auntie hasn't seen Brother Lu for a long time, and she didn't know how to care for him, which is why she made such a fuss. Once she calms down and thinks things through, she won't say such things. Actually, there's a reason for what she did. As a mother, Auntie naturally wants the best for her son, but no one can ever meet that requirement. Auntie is just worried that the bond between mother and son might grow distant, which is why she's so anxious."

As she gently persuaded her, Lu Qingyan noticed a flash of crimson in her mother's otherwise normal eyes.

It appeared and disappeared extremely quickly. If Lu Qingyan hadn't been confident in her abilities, she probably would have thought she had misread it.

For a moment, Lu Qingyan felt a pang of sympathy. It turned out that Lu's mother was already under Jinle's control at this point; she just didn't know what choice Jinle would ultimately make.
