"Sister!" Xu Xian had just reached his doorstep when he saw a scene that terrified him.
His usually gentle and cheerful sister was now lying pale-faced in front of the door.
He cried out in alarm and rushed over, pulling Xu Jiaorong into his arms in a daze. His usually gentle and calm eyes were now filled with rage: "Monster! What did you do to my sister?"
Bai Zhenzhen seemed not to hear Xu Xian's anger; in her eyes, she only saw the gentle scholar Xu Xian from that day: "Husband Xu? Husband Xu, you're back! That's wonderful."
"Get out! What did you do to my sister, you monster? Sister, wake up!" Xu Xian roared angrily at Bai Zhenzhen, then shook Xu Jiaorong in his arms anxiously.
His sister was his only family, and she had raised him all these years with great difficulty. If anything had happened to her because he had provoked this monster, he would never forgive himself for the rest of his life.
Concern clouded his judgment, and Xu Xian momentarily forgot that he knew some medical skills. He simply held Xu Jiaorong and wept, forgetting to take her pulse.
Bai Zhenzhen almost burst into tears in the face of Xu Xian's cold words: "Husband Xu, why do you treat me like this? Zhenzhen's heart is truly with you, why won't you believe it?"
"Believe? Ha, how can you believe a demon's words, especially one as ill-intentioned as you?" Xu Xian sneered, took out a talisman from his robes, and threw it at Bai Zhenzhen.
The talisman floated in the air accompanied by golden light, which spread towards Bai Zhenzhen in concentric circles, causing her to groan in pain.
Xu Xian was overjoyed: "I didn't expect that old man's talisman to be so effective. I must thank him again when I meet him another day."
Knowing that the talisman was meant to be used against Bai Zhenzhen, Gui Qing didn't give Xu Xian a particularly powerful one. The talisman in Xu Xian's hand could only drive away Bai Zhenzhen but couldn't harm her.
After all, he was her senior brother, so how could Bai Zhenzhen not be familiar with Gui Qing's talismans? She had only fallen into the trap because she was caught off guard. When she realized what was going on and saw what Xu Xian was holding, she sneered, "Overestimating yourself!"
White demonic energy flowed everywhere, and a very faint popping sound came from the air; one of the talismans had already broken. Xu Xian hurriedly threw out several other talismans one after another, but Bai Zhenzhen neutralized them all.
"This—how is this possible? You clearly couldn't do anything to these talismans just now!" Xu Xian was so frightened that he took a step back and shook his head repeatedly.
"Master Xu, I clearly calculated that we were destined to be together, so why are you resisting me so much?" Bai Zhenzhen's voice was filled with grief and indignation, and she was full of resentment at being betrayed: "Master Xu, tomorrow is the deadline, you must marry me."
After Bai Zhenzhen finished speaking, she turned into a wisp of white smoke and disappeared. She reappeared in the desolate wilderness. She clutched her chest with one hand and spat out several mouthfuls of blood: "As expected of the eldest brother, who has the most profound magic power besides Master, I wasted nearly a hundred years of my cultivation just to deal with his few talismans."
After being frightened again, Xu Xian did not faint. After Xu Jiaorong woke up and saw that she was unharmed, he told her everything.
Xu Xian suggested, "Sister, it's not a good idea for us to keep hiding like this. Why don't I go to Jinshan Temple again to find Master Fahai?"
“Yes, we should go find him.” Xu Jiaorong nodded repeatedly. “The master’s reputation has been established for many years. How could he not have some real skills? If he can help us again, we will definitely be able to get rid of that monster.”
