She had nothing to fear; this matter had little to do with her. Even if she confronted Sun Daming, she wouldn't feel guilty.
Lu Qingyan sneered and said to the people around her, "I'll go down and see what's going on. I don't remember ever being engaged to anyone."
In any case, marriages in that small village are all initially agreed upon verbally. If one party denies it, the other party can't provide concrete evidence.
Lu Qingyan didn't believe they could have any leverage over them.
She went downstairs and clearly saw a greedy gleam flash in Sun Daping's eyes.
Lu Qingyan crossed her arms and looked at him coldly, saying, "Who are you, and what gives you the right to spout nonsense here?"
As soon as these words were spoken, everyone watching knew that the main character had arrived, and a few nosy people were giving the two of them ambiguous looks.
However, these two people just don't seem to match at all. Lu Qingyan's body is so beautiful that it wouldn't be an exaggeration to say she's stunning. Sun Daping, on the other hand, is fat and has big ears, with his features squeezed together. He's incredibly ugly. Anyone with eyes wouldn't be attracted to him, not to mention the cheap clothes he's wearing. Even if it were for money, it wouldn't be possible. Putting everything else aside, the girl's shoes alone are worth several times more than the man's entire body.
Lu Qingyan took in the expressions of those around her and nodded in satisfaction.
Sun Daping wasn't very bright to begin with. The reason he followed her was because he was attracted by Lu Qingyan's current wealth and beauty. Upon hearing Lu Qingyan's question, he immediately questioned her: "We clearly grew up in the same village. How could you not recognize me? Don't forget, we are engaged. You can't abandon me as your husband just because you've become successful outside."
It was clearly a very powerful statement, but he probably just copied it down from someone else and memorized it, so it was broken and disjointed, making it somewhat comical.
Lu Qingyan looked him up and down and sneered, "A marriage contract? Why would I be engaged to someone like you? I'm not blind."
Lu Qingyan glanced around a few times: "Why don't you look in the mirror? Any one of the men around here is better looking than you. How could I possibly be interested in you?"
“Our engagement was arranged by our elders,” Sun Daping said.
"The feudal dynasty ended long ago. In such a big country as ours, I've never heard of a place where people still adhere to the rules of arranged marriages. That's right, since my father is gone and my mother isn't around, no one will call me out on your nonsense."
After Lu Qingyan finished speaking, she started walking back. Sun Daping originally wanted to rush over and grab her, but he was stopped by someone.
Although Lu Qingyan didn't say much, those around her who overheard her thought about it carefully and understood what the young man was planning.
He had feelings for Dr. Sun, which is why he resorted to such scheming to humiliate her and force her to marry him.
Thank goodness, they didn't fall for it, otherwise they would have almost become accomplices themselves.
After realizing this, everyone looked at Sun Daping with disdain. It was indeed not easy for him to find a wife, but he shouldn't have schemed against others like this.
And so Sun Daping's plan fell through. Indeed, good looks are an effective weapon to deter people; otherwise, if Sun Daping were even more handsome, the onlookers wouldn't have had such thoughts.
