Chapter 975 Once Promised the Best Time 25.24

The woman called "Sister Tao" glanced at the girl in the white dress and simply asked, "Then why didn't you go up and chat her up just now?"

The girl lowered her head sheepishly: "I...I don't dare."

Strangely enough, Rong Xu didn't say a word when he came over, yet these people dared not approach him.

Rong Xu ignored the gossip and went up to the familiar private room, where he saw Lin Nan, who was already slightly drunk.

Rong Xu reached out and snatched the wine bottle from Lin Nan's hand: "Lin Lao Er, I don't remember you being the kind of person who would drown your sorrows in alcohol. How could getting married once turn you into this? How deep are your feelings for her?"

Lin Nan rarely swore, saying, "What kind of feelings do I have for her?"

"Then why are you so heartbroken?" Rong Xu pressed. "You got a pretty clean divorce, why didn't you kill that Chen guy!"

A ruthless glint flashed across Rong Xu's face. That woman had been pestering him relentlessly back then, and he was about to take action, but she had managed to evade him. When she reappeared, she was already Lin Nan's fiancée, and he couldn't bring himself to harm her. He never expected to let such a menace go unpunished.

"Second brother, congratulations on finally escaping your misery, but I'm afraid you won't be able to get rid of that green hat on your head anytime soon," Qin Zhi said with a grin.

"Get lost!" Lin Nan said angrily, shaking off Qin Zhi.

"Second Brother's temper is getting worse and worse." Qin Zhi still had the same expression.

“I used to think it didn’t matter who I married. My family had arranged for me to marry into the Chen family, and I didn’t mind. I just wanted to marry her. I never expected that woman to be so disgusting.” Lin Nan waved his hand. “Never mind. How’s your little girl doing? I heard she went to pick up that boy Bo Jingxi today.”

"Hey, Lin Lao Er, why are you dragging my nephew into this?" Qin Zhi said with displeasure, "Don't involve him."

“It’s nothing for a young girl to fall in love at first sight. We’ve watched Bo Jingxi grow up, and they seem to be doing quite well together, haven’t they?” Lin Nan took a swig of wine and said, “It’s best to know someone’s background and that you both love each other when it comes to marriage. Like those two kids, I regret agreeing to it so readily back then.”

"Lin Lao Er, are you blind? If you want to use your tragic experiences to gain sympathy, don't drag Xiao Yan into it. That girl is in love with our Lao Liu, don't try to play matchmaker." Qin Zhi's smile faded.

Rong Xu laughed and said, "That happened so many years ago. Xiao Yan was still young then, and she was probably just joking with me. Qin Lao Si remembers it so well."

"Of course, I've always had a good memory," Qin Zhi said smugly. "That little girl said that phrase the most, how could I not remember it?"

"Sixth Brother," Qin Zhi asked, "when are you going to marry your Xiaoyan? So many years have passed, and you haven't married yet. Isn't it because of her? Now that she's almost grown up, you're going to marry her off?"

Qin Zhi had always thought that Rong Xu's interest in Lu Qingyan had some underlying meaning. After all, Rong Xu hadn't had a single female confidante all these years, and if Qin Zhi hadn't secretly given him a medical checkup, she would have really suspected that Rong Xu might have some kind of hidden ailment.

Rong Xu raised an eyebrow and said, "Am I supposed to support Xiao Yan for the rest of my life? Of course, I wouldn't mind if that were the case, but I still hope that Xiao Yan can get married happily. As for why I haven't married yet, it's naturally because there isn't anyone I can find acceptable."
