In the end, all Lu Qingyan knew was that the person had been caught. She didn't know what kind of grudges and hatred could have led him to kill Smith. She never went to the police station again, and Rong Qing never told her about it.
However, a few weeks later, Lu Qingyan ran into Jesse on the street and asked her what exactly happened in Teacher Smith's case.
Actually, this wasn't exactly a secret. When Jesse asked Lu Qingyan about it, he told her, "With Bill around, the murderer has been caught. He's a chef. What I found out is that Smith isn't a big eater, but he frequents a restaurant owned by that chef. They've known each other for a long, long time, and they're lovers."
Lu Qingyan looked surprised.
"Hey, are you that surprised? This is a very common thing here."
“A little bit, but not because of that, but because it actually happened to Mr. Smith,” Lu Qingyan said. “Back at school, I once saw him being very attentive to a lady, and I thought she was his fiancée.”
“Perhaps,” Jesse said. “But the story of Smith and that chef Bob isn’t untrue either. If they’re willing to get married, the law will recognize their relationship. However, I heard from Bob that Smith’s parents don’t approve of their marriage. He’s a conservative man and thinks it’s an insult to God. Oh my God, I can’t believe there are people like that. Shouldn’t God bring them happiness? If their feelings for each other are genuine enough, I think God will bless them. But now…”
Lu Qingyan knew what Jesse wanted to say, and she also guessed the final outcome.
"Later, did Smith take her parents' advice and break off her relationship with Bob?"
No one would willingly commit such a sin unless pushed to the extreme.
Jesse said, “Little angel, you’re so smart. Yes, later Smith wanted to break off their relationship and listen to his parents’ advice to marry a noblewoman. But Bob was unwilling to give up like that. He could have gone on to a bigger stage, but for Smith’s sake, for his reputation, he chose to keep a low profile and stay behind the scenes. The restaurant he opened could barely keep it running and didn’t make much money. Bob ruined everything for Smith, and he won’t be content with that.”
"Emotionally speaking, the mistake in this matter lies in Smith's failure to manage their relationship. But legally, Bob's crimes are unforgivable. Jesse, what was the final sentence?"
“I’m sorry, I can’t tell you that, so I don’t know the final verdict.” Jesse shook his head and said, “Bob isn’t from our state. He’s been transferred to his own state and will be dealt with according to their laws. But I’ve heard that their laws aren’t very strict, so he might get away with it.”
Having found out everything she wanted to know, Lu Qingyan thanked her.
Jesse said nonchalantly, "Don't be so polite with me, but I appreciate your thanks. I'd also like to ask you something: has Pierre been staying at your house lately?" As Jesse spoke, his expression was somewhat strange.
