Chapter 158: A Passerby in a Western Fantasy Adventure 7

Chapter 158: A Passerby in a Western Fantasy Adventure 7

Cathy looked at the new companion in her family with curiosity. The shabby swordsman looked strong and powerful, with a physique as big as two Ivises.

Ai·Unit·Weiss: ...

"This is Hogg. I bought him from the slave market to help build the house." Abner explained, noticing the girl's curious look.

He took out the building materials he bought from the space ring and piled them on the open space in the yard. Then he waved mysteriously at Cathy and placed the pile of colorful ornaments in front of her.

"How is it? Do you like it?" The old man's eyes were full of anticipation and satisfaction.

Cathy's lips curved into two sweet dimples: "I like it very much. Thank you, teacher."

As she spoke, she took off the old man's cloak and hung it behind the door, then gently patted his shoulders: "Thank you for your hard work, teacher. Do you want something to eat for lunch?"

"It's all right, I love whatever little Cathy cooks." Abner felt very happy and started to dislike Ivis who had a cold face beside him. It turned out that the little girl was really considerate.

Seeing this warm scene between the master and the disciple, a gleam of light flashed across Hogg's calm eyes.

After lunch, Cathy shrunk the magic house and hung it around her neck. Then she set up a bamboo chair under the shade of the sea buckthorn tree and lay down leisurely on it.

The afternoon sun was hot and bright. Not far away, Hogg and Ivis placed the black stone and wood in the correct position according to Abner's instructions. Soon, the center of the magic circle was covered by a small black house.

The girl on the bamboo chair gradually fell asleep, afraid that the afternoon heat wave would disturb her sleepiness. The old man with a hood waved his staff to control the growth of the sea buckthorn tree. The dense crown of the tree became thicker and thicker. The branches around Cathy gradually grew, forming green curtains on all sides that covered her, and the breeze flowed through the gaps between the branches.

Seeing this scene, Ivis stopped what he was doing and looked at the old man steadily, his eyes full of accusation: So, love can be transferred, right?

"Cathy works so hard preparing dinner for us every day. She needs to rest more." Abner looked away, making excuses uncomfortably.

"Besides, building a house is a physically demanding job that a little girl shouldn't do. Otherwise, why would I bring Hogg back?"

Having said this, the old man looked more and more righteous.

That's because you didn't see how she dismembered the monster with her knife, Ivis complained to himself. Thinking of the cold light on the blade a few days ago, he couldn't help but shudder and continued to help move the bricks obediently.

The shackles on Hogg's hands had been removed long ago. With the slave mark on his face, he had been silent these days. Even when he followed the old man into this barren land, he remained calm.

For a person who has lost his country and hometown, what difference does it make whether he is alive or dead?

The dusk was dim and the slightly chilly evening breeze woke up the sleeping Cathy.

She sat up and saw the green curtains surrounding her and two small houses gradually taking shape not far away.

An orange bonfire was lit in front of the cabin, and Ivis and Hogg were skewering meat and flipping it over the flames.

"Little Cathy, wake up." Abner waved his hand to spread the green curtain and motioned the girl to come over. "How about barbecue today?"

Sniffing the aroma in the air, Cathy took out several jars of seasoning and a small bottle of honey from her space belt.

"OK."

The greedy girl looked like a pitiful little fox. Ivis quickly turned his eyes away, but his hands skillfully spread the seasoning evenly on the barbecue and added a little chili powder according to the girl's taste.

The tender meat sizzled as the flames licked it. The aroma of the meat in the air became stronger and stronger, drifting away into the distance along with the cold night wind.

The skewers on the plate were eaten up before they were even full. Hogg had finished a hind leg and several skewers of tender meat without realizing it. The salty seasoning gave the beast an excellent flavor. He finished half of the meat without even raising his head.

Ivis stared at the old man with suspicion: "Grandpa, are you sure you bought a slave and not a good-for-nothing? Can we really keep him alive?"

The swordsman paused while eating and stared at the pile of bones in front of him in shock. He actually ate so much?!

Abner stared at Hogg's embarrassed, purple, rough face. He obviously hadn't expected this situation. When he bought the slave, he only wanted to pick a strong and capable one, so he took a liking to Hogg at first sight.

"Ahem." He cleared his throat, but was interrupted before he could say anything.

"Starting tomorrow, I will go out hunting for food by myself." The swordsman stood up suddenly. His remaining self-esteem would not allow him to eat for free.

"There's no rush for this," Cathy said calmly. "For now, we should build the branch first. We still have some food left at home to last for a while. The extreme sandstorm is coming soon, and the Angar Canyon leading to the Sunset Mountains will be impassable."

"Let's build the house first, and then go back to Sunset Mountains to replenish food before the sandstorm comes."

Abner felt a bit of a headache thinking about the extreme sandstorm that would last for a month, but what Cathy said was indeed right, without a stable shelter, it was still unclear whether they could survive the sandstorm.

At night, after the bonfire went out, Hogg stayed in the newly built house for the night, while Cathy and her group lived in the warm magic house.

There was silence in the sand. The swordsman who was sleeping under the quilt suddenly opened his eyes, leaned against the window and stared at the black shadow outside the magic circle with bated breath. The person was moving quickly on the sand, but was bounced back by the protective magic attached to the sea buckthorn forest when he was about to get close.

The black shadow circled the sea buckthorn forest several times and finally retreated silently.

Hogg placed the sword in his hand beside the bed, and turned around to find Abner walking out from the shadow of the magic house with a wand.

The two looked at each other for a while, and Abner put away his staff and said with a smile: "It's okay, you can go to sleep first, we still have to continue building the house tomorrow."

Hearing this, the swordsman no longer hesitated, covered himself with the quilt that exuded the warmth of the sun, and fell into a deep sleep.

With the efforts of several people, the five cabins were quickly built.

The two bedrooms facing the sun were assigned to Abner and Cathy. Across a hall were Ivis and Hogg's rooms. The room covered with array eyes was temporarily used as a laboratory for the two wizards. An obscure spell was engraved on the door, and even Cathy could not enter at will.

After all, the girl's magic power was too weak. If she accidentally touched any instrument, Abner might not be able to save her in time.

Cathy's magic house is mainly used as a kitchen and also as a storage room. There are many wooden shelves in the two rooms to display miscellaneous items, such as various ingredients and bottled drinking water.

The Chamber of Secrets was filled with magic books brought by Abner and Ivis. Cathy would often go in and read some of the texts in her spare time, thereby gaining a deeper understanding of this magical world.
