When the prince was eleven years old, the emperor no longer wanted to be emperor.
Even the prince could sense his urgency.
"Father, do you and Mother wish to travel the world? Will you take your brothers and sisters with you to enjoy the scenery, leaving me and Grandmother behind in the capital?"
The prince lowered his eyes and spoke in a wronged tone.
The emperor was immediately distressed. He loved his children to the core and cherished each one of them as the tip of his heart.
"I do have such an idea, but you are young, and your mother and I are reluctant to leave you alone in the capital." The emperor explained seriously to the prince.
"Then father and mother won't go out, right?" The prince looked expectantly.
He has been with his father, the emperor, and his mother over the years, and has long been accustomed to living with the family. The prince does not want to leave them, and he is even more reluctant to leave his younger brothers and sisters.
The emperor nodded and said, "Your mother and I plan to wait until our prince is older and you marry and have children before we can go out without worry."
"That minister will never marry in his life."
The prince quickly spoke, "I don't want to be separated from my father, the emperor, and my mother, the empress."
Xu Lingyi couldn't help but shake her head and laugh when she heard his words: "When you grow up, you will naturally want to get married."
"I won't do that."
The prince swore solemnly.
He realized that if he got married, his father, the emperor, and his mother, the queen, would leave the capital.
So much so that even when the prince was fifteen years old, he still avoided women.
"Prince, you are old enough now. I intend to hand over the throne to you."
He didn't want to sit on the throne at all and only wanted to pass it on to his son, something he had been waiting for for more than ten years.
"I intend to accompany your mother on a tour. It is time for the Crown Prince to take on his responsibilities."
"Father, I cannot bear to leave you."
The prince knew he couldn't escape, "Didn't you say you wouldn't leave until your son got married?"
The prince felt bitter.
"You are an adult now, you can stand up for yourself, you can't act like a spoiled child anymore."
The emperor doted on the prince since he was young, and the prince had never left their family. The emperor gently stroked the prince's head as he did in the past:
"Jin'er, don't worry. We will return to the capital in a while. You are the most beloved child of our father, the emperor, and our mother, the empress. We can't bear to leave you."
"You clearly love your sister the most." The prince said, "Father, you just don't want to be emperor anymore."
"You go out to eat, drink and have fun, while I have to get up early and stay up late to handle state affairs..."
The emperor clenched his fist and coughed a few times: "Then you can get married and have children as soon as possible, so that you can learn from me in the future."
The prince was stunned. This seemed to work!
————
"Has there been any letter from my father, the Emperor, and the Empress?" the prince looked expectantly.
"Your Majesty, no."
The prince lowered his eyes, feeling distressed.
It has been almost two years since my father, the emperor, and my mother, the empress, left Beijing.
There was a constant flow of letters over the past two years, with dozens of pages of correspondence being sent to him every few days.
Even though the emperor and his men had left the capital, the prince could still feel that they were by his side.
But this time, there was no letter for more than a month.
The prince was feeling depressed when his subordinates came to report.
"Your Majesty, two babies were found at the gate of the Golden Throne Hall."
Prince: “!!!”
"Has the palace's guards become so lax?"
As soon as he finished speaking, he felt something was wrong.
He hurried out of the hall, but before he arrived, he heard bursts of crying.
"Let me see."
When the prince saw the two children for the first time, he felt inexplicably pity for them.
"Your Majesty, here is a letter."
The prince opened the letter, read it again and again, with a big smile on his face.
The corners of his mouth curled up: "Father, the Emperor, and Mother, the Empress, actually gave me another pair of younger brothers and sisters."
It was also a surprise that Xu Lingyi became pregnant. She was now in her thirties and the emperor was in his forties.
In addition, she had not been pregnant again in all these years because she had taken the elixir, so she thought the elixir was foolproof.
The result was so miraculous that she suddenly became pregnant more than ten years later. She even suspected that the effect of the elixir of infertility had an expiration date.
Because of her older age, Xu Lingyi experienced severe morning sickness during this pregnancy and had to stay in the local area to recuperate.
When the pregnancy was later, the morning sickness disappeared, but I was diagnosed with twins again. My belly was getting bigger and bigger, and I had difficulty moving around, so I was not suitable for traveling.
They simply lived there for more than a year.
After giving birth, Xu Lingyi and the emperor headed towards the capital.
"Father, the Emperor, and Mother, the Empress, must have returned to the capital!" The Crown Prince was surprised. "They might already be in the palace."
"Jin'er!"
Sure enough, when the prince looked back, he saw the emperor and Xu Lingyi looking at him with smiles.
"Mother, Emperor!"
The prince's eyes were red. He was only seventeen years old now. He had been raised by the emperor and Xu Lingyi with meticulous care since he was a child, and he was endlessly dependent on them in his heart.
"Is Father and Mother still leaving the capital?"
Xu Lingyi shook her head: "At least wait until your brothers and sisters are a few years older before going out."
The prince's smile deepened. He had always cared for his younger siblings, and now he had an even greater fondness for them.
Xu Lingyi has been in this world for nearly fifty years.
She had recovered her memory as early as the moment the prince ascended the throne, but after merging her memories with the original owner's, she still found that she liked Xie Heng.
He is even a thousand times better than many modern men.
She thought that he had not changed his heart over the years, so it was normal for her to be attracted to him.
If one day he really falls in love with someone else, she will not bother him.
Love is of course a good thing to have. Growing old with someone who shares the same feelings with you is also a kind of happiness.
But if she didn't, she wouldn't regret it.
