Chapter 106: The Abstinent Emperor vs. the Stunning Beauty (27)

When Shen Shuyi opened her eyes, she saw Qin Hao sleeping beside her bed.

The dark circles under his eyes were very dark, and he looked much more haggard, and he didn't even shave. Even though he was still as handsome as before, she could still see that the emperor was in poor condition.

Shen Shuyi's heart softened, and he subconsciously reached out and touched the emperor's frowning brows.

As soon as she moved, Qin Hao suddenly opened his eyes.

Their eyes met in the air, and Qin Hao's eyes were full of guilt and love.

"I'll go call the imperial physician."

Shen Shuyi grabbed his hand, “Your Majesty, don’t leave.”

Qin Hao was both happy and hurt. He was happy that she was still willing to be close to him, but he was hurt that he had not protected her well and let her suffer like this.

"I won't leave." The emperor hugged her in his arms and coaxed her softly, "Shuyi, it's my fault."

Shen Shuyi pushed him weakly with both hands, sobbing slightly, “You still don’t believe me.”

Qin Hao held her hand tightly with his large, warm hand and said softly, "Believe."

"It's just that I got so angry that day that I lost my mind... I was wrong."

He dreamed of starting over, how could he bear to hurt her again.

"My beloved, don't cry." Qin Hao hugged her tightly. "You can vent your anger however you want, but don't hurt yourself by crying. You need to rest the most now."

Shen Shuyi nodded and turned to bury her head in the emperor’s arms, her body still trembling a little.

Qin Hao felt infinite pity for her, knowing that she was heartbroken because of the loss of her child, so he stayed inseparable from Shen Shuyi for the next few days, and even hugged her when he went to sleep at night, for fear that she would be awakened by a nightmare.

After Chen Shuyi had a miscarriage, she stayed in Shanglin Garden for a short period of confinement. After she recovered a month later, she set off back to the capital.

During this month, Qin Hao almost moved all government affairs to her bedroom, and no matter how busy he was, he would take care of her personally.

The imperial physician was glad that he had completely eliminated the remaining poison from Concubine Zhao, and that her body, which had been damaged by the miscarriage, had been restored, so that he could report to the emperor.

After returning to the royal capital, the ladies who were at the flower-viewing garden that day voluntarily confined themselves to their homes for a month, saying that they were praying for Concubine Zhao.

Only Shen Fu was punished with house arrest for three months because she offended Concubine Zhao, and missed her wedding date.

Even if she had not been under house arrest, the marriage was in jeopardy. Qin Yi had somehow angered His Majesty and was placed under house arrest in the Prince's Mansion, and this was the result of the Empress Dowager's intercession.

Chen Shuyi in Yilan Palace naturally knew everything that had happened during this period. She also knew that the emperor had gone to settle accounts with the empress dowager.

That day, she got up early and combed her long hair in front of the dressing table. Qin Hao, who was supposed to go to the morning court, stayed in the room for a while. He walked behind Shen Shuyi and signaled the palace maid to leave. He picked up the peach wood comb and gently combed Shen Shuyi's long, smooth black hair.

Her slender fingers passed through her hair, and she picked up a strand and sniffed it at the tip of her nose, smelling the faint and pleasant fragrance.

Shen Shuyi saw the man behind her from the mirror on the dressing table, and she chuckled, "Your Majesty, why hasn't he gone to court yet?"

"It's okay." Qin Hao put down the comb and picked a hairpin for her. "Shuyi, are you bored in Yilan Palace? After the morning court, I will accompany you to the Imperial Garden for a walk?"

Shen Shuyi turned around and met his deep eyes, "Is it okay if I want to go out of the palace to play?"

Qin Hao's expression tensed up for a moment, he subconsciously took Shen Shuyi's hand, lowered his head and hugged her, "Shuyi, don't go."

After Shen Shuyi discovered that she had a miscarriage, Qin Hao seemed to be much more nervous about her, and even had nightmares at night for fear that she would leave.

He even doted on her more than ever before, wishing to put the best things in the world in front of her.

She chuckled and patted his hand. "I just wanted to take a walk on Imperial Street. I haven't been shopping for a long time. I don't know what's fashionable on the street."

Whatever was popular at the moment was not sent to Yilan Palace. Qin Hao knew that she was really bored. "Then I will go with you on the day off."

"A secret visit?" Shen Shuyi became interested.

"That's right." Qin Hao raised his hand and gently scratched her small nose.

After the court session, Qin Hao was indeed planning to go back to the Imperial Garden to relax with Chen Shuyi, but before that he still had a score to settle with the Queen Mother.

In the Cining Palace, Empress Dowager Li was always worried. The death of Yin Xiuying also meant that her plan had failed... Fortunately, she had made preparations to escape.

At this moment, a voice came from outside, "Your Majesty has arrived——"

Empress Dowager Li almost couldn't sit still. She glanced at Nanny Sheng who was standing beside her, and forced herself to calm down, just turning the Buddhist beads in her hands.

Qin Hao strode in, looked directly at Empress Dowager Li, and spoke bluntly.

"Isn't the Queen Mother praying for my offspring at the Lotus Temple?"

"You still taught a good concubine."

He threw the porcelain bottle of medicine at the empress dowager's feet. The sound of the porcelain bottle breaking scared the empress dowager so much that she covered her heart with a handkerchief.

"Emperor, what are you doing?"

Qin Hao snorted coldly, "Does the Queen Mother think that I can't do anything to you because of filial piety?"

Empress Dowager Li was hurt by Qin Hao's gaze as cold as a sharp blade. Nanny Sheng, who had been standing beside Empress Dowager Li, knelt down on the spot.

"Your Majesty, Queen Mother, this old servant did it."

Empress Dowager Li frowned and looked at Madam Sheng who lowered her head. Her face was livid as she asked, "What on earth is going on?!"

Nanny Sheng raised her head, her old eyes filled with tears.

She and the Empress Dowager have been master and servant for many years, and they have a deep affection for each other. In addition, the Empress Dowager Li used her descendants as a threat, so she had to admit the crime even if she didn't want to. Only in this way could she save the Empress Dowager.

"I was blinded by greed. I saw Concubine Zhao repeatedly disobeying the Empress Dowager. I couldn't stand it and was coerced and bribed by Yin to do the wrong thing. I shouldn't have secretly left the palace to buy poison and gave it to Yin..."

"Your Majesty, the Queen Mother was not aware of this matter. Please do not vent your anger on her. I am willing to die as an apology."
