Shen Shuyi moved the popcorn closer to him and asked in a low voice, "Comrade Yan, would you like some popcorn?"
"Okay, thank you." Yan Zheng took it. Out of the corner of his eye, he saw a girl wearing a light purple dress. She was slender, and her long, black hair, braided to one side, made her face even more beautiful and charming.
She was watching the movie intently, her eyes looking particularly sweet.
How can someone be so good-looking...?
Yan Zheng suppressed his thoughts and quickly looked at the big screen, dispelling the lingering romantic notion from before.
Shen Shuyi ate a lot of popcorn and drank some water. She glanced at Yan Zheng and realized that he was simply watching a movie.
As the movie ended and people left, a large crowd surged out, and Yan Zheng escorted Shen Shuyi out.
Shen Shuyi grabbed his hand. "Can I hold your hand? I'm afraid I'll trip..."
She just recovered from spraining her ankle last time.
Yan Zheng nodded. "Be careful."
The moment their fingers touched, Yan Zheng felt as if his hand was being burned, and a strange sensation spread through his heart.
Shen Shuyi tilted her head to look at him, "Comrade Yan, have you ever watched a movie with other female comrades before?"
Yan Zheng actually thought about it for a moment, "In the army, there are group movies to watch, and there are female comrades here. I don't know if this counts as what you're asking about."
Shen Shuyi smiled. "I was asking about a movie outing for couples, on a solitary basis."

Yan Zheng originally intended to comfort her, but unexpectedly, tears welled up in the eyes of the girl next to him.

It was lunchtime, and the state-run restaurant was quite crowded. Yan Zheng led Shen Shuyi to a table by the window.
"What would you like to eat? I'll go order." Yan Zheng poured her a glass of water.
Shen Shuyi said, "Let's go take a look." She also wanted to know what dishes were on the menu at the restaurant today.
The two walked around and ordered a plate of steamed fish, stewed potatoes with meat, braised lion's head meatballs, a spicy stir-fried cabbage, and seaweed and egg soup.
It's all home-style dishes, and the portions are quite large.
Yan Zheng brought the food back, and Shen Shuyi got her food, picked up her chopsticks and started eating. "Hmm, it tastes pretty good."
