Want her to give up her position as empress? Dream on!
The Empress Dowager's smile stiffened slightly, while Shang Xian curled his lips into a smile, his eyes unusually cold: "Mother, you taught me all of this. You taught me so well, I've learned a great deal."
These words infuriated the old hag. She had quite a plan in mind, believing that nonsense that whoever controlled her would rule the world. So she made her empress. After all, making her empress was a pretty good choice, since Ning Jiu'er's father was a high-ranking official of the late emperor. Now that she no longer had the Prime Minister's mansion behind her, the old hag naturally no longer valued her. She just wanted to keep her in the harem.
Empress Dowager Jiu'er took Shang Xian's hand and spoke with the earnestness of an elder: "Do you know that Consort Yin is pregnant?"
Shang Xian secretly rolled her eyes at the Empress Dowager who was holding her hand, but still smiled and said, "Of course I know."
The Empress Dowager sighed softly: "Consort Yin said she was afraid someone would harm the child in her womb, especially the Empress Dowager, so..."
"So you want me to give up the position of Empress, is that it?"
The Empress Dowager nodded, feigning reluctance.
"For the sake of the royal family's offspring, I need to carefully consider this matter. Please allow me to think it over, Your Majesty."
The Empress Dowager was delighted to hear her words. In her opinion, Ning Jiu'er was a simple-minded young lady, and she would probably agree as soon as she heard her say that.
"Jiu'er is so understanding. You haven't been feeling well lately, so you should go back and rest."
Shang Xian bowed to the Empress Dowager and left with Mu Se.
As soon as he stepped out of Cining Palace, Shang Xian's smile vanished without a trace.
"Your Majesty, I really didn't expect that Consort Yin would appear." She had been telling Shang Xian to keep an eye on Lan Ning, but she never expected that the person she should be most careful of was this unexpected Consort Yin Xuan'er!
"What's the panic?" Shang Xian yawned lazily. The more troublesome the situation, the calmer you should be.
"Your Majesty!" This greatly alarmed Mu Se.
"At worst, we can just fall out with Dugu Qianchen. It's that simple," Shang Xian turned to look at Mu Se. "You're still not calm enough."
Hearing Shang Xian call out the Emperor's name directly, Mu Se subconsciously looked around, thankfully no one else heard.
"Your Majesty, be careful, walls have ears," Mu Shi whispered.
Shang Xian glanced at her: "It's been so long since Twilight, don't you know me yet? If I weren't confident in doing something, why would I take the risk?"
Dusk was stunned. She had a feeling that Ning Jiu'er in front of her was terrifying, with an inner and outer confidence that made her seem very powerful...
"Twilight" Shang Xian suddenly stopped and looked up at the dawn: "The tranquility is over, the storm is coming."
Before Dusk could reply, a voice came from behind: "Storm?"
Shang Xian turned around and saw Rong Ling and Yu Hanzhi walking towards her.
It's good that she met them; neither of them intended to harm her, so it's better to give them a heads-up.
"I have something to tell you," Shang Xian said before heading towards Jinning Palace.
Yu Hanzhi and Rong Ling exchanged a glance and followed closely behind.
"What's so mysterious?" Rong Ling asked curiously.
Shang Xian turned to face them, his face serious: "To be honest, I don't really want you to get involved in anything related to Dugu Qianchen, but I know you are close friends. If I asked you to leave Tianqi for the time being starting today, would you go?"
