She whispered, "Could you please move away from me for a moment? That person keeps staring at me."
Ning Beiyao knew who "that person" was as soon as he heard it. He pursed his lips and remained silent, then thought of what happened last night and felt a surge of anger.
Ning Beiyao stood beside her in a daze without saying a word, which attracted the attention of Chu Xichen and Tang Dongyu. He said a few words and then drifted off into thought. What did he say?
"Dinner's ready."
As soon as Ye Nian finished speaking, Ning Beiyao pulled Shang Xian to sit down.
As soon as they sat down, Tang Dongyu said, "I brought out the best wine for you to drink. You're not allowed to leave until you're drunk!"
"Since Brother Dongyu has already said so, then we shall respectfully comply," Chu Yue said with a smile.
Lin Nuoer joked, "Don't blame us if we drink all your good wine."
Tang Dongyu declared with great ambition: "We have nothing but plenty of alcohol."
He picked up the wine bottle and offered a glass to each of them, then politely asked Shang Xian, "Little sister, can you drink?"
"I could still drink it a couple of years ago, but not anymore," Shang Xian said with a slight smile throughout.
"Alright," Tang Dongyu said, knowing his place, and skipped over her.
"Judging from what you're saying, you had a good alcohol tolerance a couple of years ago?" Lin Nuoer asked with a smile.
Shang Xian replied, "Yeah, they were so popular a couple of years ago, you could drink water from them."
Lin Nuoer's smile froze on her face for a moment, then she maintained it.
"Is it because you drank too much alcohol that your health has deteriorated?" Chu Yuejiao asked, following up on Lin Nuoer's words.
Maybe.
Their words were like hitting cotton; Shang Xian felt nothing at all.
You can even curse them in your heart: "Idiots."
Chu Xichen's face instantly darkened. Bei Yao had told them that Ji Yi's poor health had started since childhood, and they had the audacity to bring that up directly. It was already a miracle that Ji Yi wasn't angry.
After several rounds of drinks, the emotions naturally deepened.
They were all drunk, except for Shang Xian, who remained sober.
The three men were alright; they were still conscious and had no major problems. Good wine really makes a difference.
Ye Nian and the others were already exhausted, and they were just sitting there with their chins propped up, grinning foolishly.
This put Shang Xian in an awkward position, unsure whether to laugh or not.
"Do you still remember what your first love was like?" Chu Yuejiao suddenly asked. Even though she was drunk, she was still thinking about Ning Beiyao, her first love.
Chu Yuejiao, her eyes glazed, pointed at Lin Nuoer: "Sister-in-law, you speak first."
When drunk, one doesn't care about anything and says whatever comes to mind.
Lin Nuoer suddenly shouted, "My first love isn't even human!"
Chu Xichen held his wine glass, chuckled, and listened quietly to the girls' conversation.
“Yes, first love is a bastard!” Ye Nian strongly agreed with Lin Nuoer’s words.
Chu Yuejiao pouted, her face contorted with a mournful expression: "Your first loves are all terrible. My first love has always been my goal..."
"I'm not talking about you anymore, little sister. What about your first love?" Ye Nian asked, shaking Shang Xian's hand.
Then all eyes turned to Shang Xian. She smiled and said, "I didn't have a first love. Back then, there were two boys around me who were so outstanding that I couldn't find anyone I liked from elementary school to university. Maybe my standards were too high."
"Wow, just how outstanding are you?" Tang Dongyu teased her playfully.
"Gong Ou?" Ning Beiyao tilted his head to look at her.
"I only met him when I first returned to Los Angeles, how could it be him?"
"Gong Ou of the Gong family?" Chu Xichen asked curiously, as that guy was quite the playboy.
Tang Dongyu was somewhat surprised. "How did that guy become your friend? He's surrounded by a different woman every day, a veritable 'playboy'!"
