Chapter 2: The Coachman's Dark Moonlight Green Plum 01

Chapter 2: The Coachman's Dark Moonlight Green Plum 01

At the beginning of the 20th century, in Huajing City.

A three-story red brick building stands on the side of the street, with the three big characters "Qingfengtang" clearly written in gold-plated red letters on the door plaque.

Opposite Qingfengtang, there was a row of rickshaw drivers wearing various kinds of jackets, their eyes fixed on the door of Qingfengtang.

You should know that this is the most famous restaurant in Huajing. The hall is spacious, the dishes are exquisite, and the minimum consumption cannot be less than ten taels of silver. Anyone who comes out of it is either rich or noble.

If they are lucky and meet a generous person, the tip alone can be equivalent to their income from pulling a cart for a month.

After waiting for a long time, a middle-aged man finally walked out of Qingfeng Hall. He was fat, with big ears and a greasy face. After looking around, the wealthy businessman pointed casually and said, "Hey, come here."

Zhang Laowu, who was being pointed at, was a little slow to react. Instead, a young man in the corner trotted up to the wealthy businessman and said, "Sir, please get in the car."

The young man was tall but thin, with messy hair and wearing a black jacket. He had big, bright eyes and looked at the wealthy businessman with a smile on his face.

By the time Zhang Laowu realized what was happening, the young man had already dragged the wealthy businessman away. He was so angry that he stamped his feet and said, "Damn it, Zhao Huaxing is stealing my customers again! If I see you again, I'll kill you!"

Zhang Laowu's shouting made Zhao Huaxing, who was still pulling the cart, sneer. Anyone who doesn't make money is a fool. What's the use of robbing business? Only the money in your own hands is real.

He sent the guest to the designated location and received a five-copper tip from the guest. He was so happy that he immediately bought two buns and ate them while walking.

Going back to Qingfengtang now would be like walking into a trap. He wasn't that stupid. It was already noon anyway, so he went straight home.

Zhao Huaxing lives in Wutong Alley in the west of the city. The houses here are low and scattered, and the ground is uneven.

But because the housing prices here are cheap, most of the laborers choose to live here. Over time, this has become the largest slum in Huajing City.

As soon as I reached the alley entrance, I heard a woman's laughter, "Xiao Zhao, you're back so early today!"

Zhao Huaxing took a bite of the bun in his hand before smiling at the woman who was talking. "We finished work early today. Did Aunt Wang have lunch?"

Aunt Wang smiled and said, "I ate a long time ago, but your Uncle Wang is still at work, so I'll go take his meal to him. Oh, and the Li family has moved out, and a new family has moved into our yard. Be careful when you go back."

Zhao Huaxing smiled and nodded, "Okay, thank you Aunt Wang."

Money is not everything, but in this slum, for those without money, even owning a complete yard is a luxury.

Zhao Huaxing lived in the innermost courtyard of Wutong Alley, which was full of twists and turns. Besides Aunt Wang, who had just spoken to him, there were two other families living with him.

As soon as I walked into the yard, I saw a lot of debris on the ground, which must have belonged to the new tenant.

The new hostess was a gentle middle-aged woman wearing a cheongsam. She felt embarrassed when she saw her belongings blocking the way. She immediately walked up to Zhao Huaxing and said with a smile, "Sorry, we have a lot of stuff. We'll pack it up right away."

Zhao Huaxing smiled and nodded, "It's okay. If you need any help, just tell us."

When Zhao Huaxing turned around, he saw a girl who was about his age. She had a delicate face, a straight and small nose, lips as rosy as red cherries, and slightly upturned corners of her mouth with a bit of stubbornness and pride.

She was dressed elegantly and fashionably, in a white silk dress with delicate lace trimmings at the neckline and cuffs.

A light pink ribbon was tied around her waist in a bow, which perfectly outlined her slender waist.

She wore a small white hat on her head and white high heels decorated with pearls, which showed her noble status and was out of place in this muddy yard.

In front of the girl stood a middle-aged man with a slightly weathered look. He should be the host. He sighed at the girl and said, "Wanrong, we may have to live here for the next few days. I'm sorry that you have been wronged."

Zhao Huaxing immediately recognized the girl's name as Wanrong, and her family background must have been good in the past. But now it was hard to say, after all, living in the same courtyard with him, how could her family be that well-off?

Zhao Huaxing thought: It must be very uncomfortable for the high and mighty little princess to fall into the mortal world.

But the girl grinned at the middle-aged man, her whole face flushed slightly, and her smile was as bright as a blooming spring flower, making her look even brighter.

"Dad, it's okay. I just checked. It's only a 20-minute walk from here to my brother's school. It's more convenient than before!"

The little boy next to the girl also said: "Dad, don't worry, my sister and I like it here very much."

Seeing his two children so sensible, Chen Qingpeng's eyes flashed with tears of emotion. "Don't worry, as long as you give me time, I will definitely make a comeback and lead you to a good life."

The hostess who had been talking to Zhao Huaxing before also walked up to the man and said in a gentle voice, "Qingpeng, we believe you can do it!"

Looking at the happy family, Zhao Huaxing curled his lips and smiled meaningfully. This family has not yet realized the difficulty of living here.

The kitchen and even the toilet are shared. You can hear the sneeze of the neighbor next door clearly. There is no privacy at all.

He felt that the day when the girl cried and wanted to leave would be very exciting.

Zhao Huaxing walked around the debris on the ground and went to his room.

The girl walked even faster. When she reached the door of one of the rooms, she turned around and said with a smile, "Dad, I'll live in this room from now on!"

Zhao Huaxing stopped because the room the girl pointed to was the room he used to live in.

There are a total of eight rooms in the yard, which means each family should have two rooms.

But after Old Man Zhao left, he was alone and checked out of a room.

It now appears that the new tenant must have rented three rooms including his own.

The man didn't say anything, but the woman began to frown, "The light in this room is not good, you should stay in the big room."

The girl shook her head. "No need. You and dad can live in the big room, your brother can live in the middle, and I can live next to him."

The girl was talking as she walked, and she stepped on a stone without paying attention.

Seeing that she was about to fall, Zhao Huaxing quickly stepped forward and supported the girl's waist. "Are you okay?"

The girl's waist was soft, seemingly thin, yet full of flesh. She also had a fragrance that was refreshing. What was it like? It was like the scent of crabapple blossoms, or wheat.

Just when Zhao Huaxing wanted to carefully identify the fragrance on the girl, the girl had already stood up, holding on to a big tree beside her.

A hint of disappointment flashed across Zhao Huaxing's eyes, but he didn't even notice it.

The girl turned around, and although she looked at him with a hint of timidity, she still smiled politely and said, "Thank you."
