Chapter 386 The Coward's Black Moonlight Witch 17

Chapter 386 The Coward's Black Moonlight Witch 17

When He Baifeng came back from her shower, Shen Xinran was already asleep. She was lying flat on the bed, spread out in a big letter shape, with the quilt kicked to the corner of the bed, revealing her belly.

He Baifeng smiled, she walked to the bed, first helped Shen Xinran cover the quilt, covering her belly, and then lay outside.

The moment she lay down, Shen Xinran suddenly turned over, hugged her, and called out, "Grandma."

He Baifeng's heart softened instantly. She patted Shen Xinran's shoulder and coaxed her like she did when she was a child: "Go to sleep, grandma is here."

Shen Xinran opened his eyes slightly and mumbled in a half-asleep state: "When are we going back? I miss my little chicken."

He Baifeng was stunned for a moment, then she comforted him, "It's okay, we'll be back soon."

Only then did Shen Xinran rest his head on He Baifeng's neck and fell into a deep sleep.

Tan Zhidong and Wang Yaling were just about to turn off the lights and go to bed when they were interrupted by a knock on the door.

Wang Yaling was wearing pajamas. When she opened the door, she saw Tan Jing standing outside with tears in her eyes, looking pitiful. "Mom, does grandma not like me?"

Wang Yaling's heart tightened, and she quickly pulled Tan Jing into her arms, gently wiping the tears from her face. "Silly child, grandma is just like that, don't take it to heart."

Tan Jing raised her tearful eyes and looked at Wang Yaling, her eyes full of anticipation and anxiety, "Really?"

Wang Yaling nodded. "Really? Even my mother was lectured by my grandmother a lot when she was a child."

Tan Jing's mood finally calmed down, and she burst into laughter. "That's good. I thought grandma didn't like me. Good night, Mom and Dad. I'm going back to sleep first."

Wang Yaling stood at the door of the room, watching Tan Jing walk into her own room, then she gently closed the door and turned back to bed.

As soon as she lay down, she heard Tan Zhidong ask her, "When will your mother be home?"

Wang Yaling sighed, "She just arrived today, she'll have to stay for at least two days!"

Tan Zhidong frowned, "Jingjing is crying like this right after arriving. If I continue to stay here, it will be disastrous."

Wang Yaling looked hesitant and said, "But..." After all, she is my mother.

Tan Zhidong interrupted her directly, "Don't forget what that Taoist priest said. Jingjing is a girl of luck. Only by treating her well can her luck be passed on to us."

"Haven't you had enough of that kind of poor life? I have had enough of it too." After saying this, Tan Zhidong turned over and turned his back to Wang Yaling.

Wang Yaling knew that Tan Zhidong's words were blunt but realistic. She clenched her fists and nodded, "Okay, I'll tell Mom tomorrow morning."

He Baifeng was old and her sleep became light. She woke up before dawn and lay in bed for a while. When she couldn't lie down any longer, she got up and went to the kitchen to prepare breakfast.

She knew that Tan Shuai was sleeping on the sofa, so she moved quietly and began to prepare carefully.

Despite this, Tan Shuai was still woken up by the noise in the kitchen. He shouted towards the kitchen: "Who is up so early? Can't you let me sleep?"

Wang Yaling heard the sound and came out of the room, only to see He Baifeng standing in the kitchen with a pot and an indifferent look on her face.

She quickly smiled and said, "Mom, we all went out to buy breakfast this morning, so you don't have to work so hard."

He Baifeng nodded, didn't say much, just put the pot back in its place, and went straight back to the room.

Wang Yaling glared at Tan Shuai, then put on her shoes and went downstairs to buy breakfast. Tan Shuai also realized his previous gaffe and fell back on the sofa in awkward silence.

After Wang Yaling bought breakfast, she knocked on He Baifeng's door and whispered, "Mom, you can come out for breakfast now."

He Baifeng opened the door and walked out, still with no expression on her face.

Wang Yaling looked at He Baifeng cautiously and asked tentatively, "Mom, what are we going to do with the chickens and ducks back home when we come to the city this time?"

He Baifeng stopped and said bluntly: "If you want me to go back, just say it directly, no need to beat around the bush."

Wang Yaling smiled awkwardly: "Mom, what are you talking about? How could I possibly chase you away?"

He Baifeng sneered, "Okay, then I won't leave."

Upon hearing this, Wang Yaling quickly added, "It's just that we do have limited rooms here, so it's not very convenient to live here. When we buy a bigger house, we will definitely take you over to enjoy the good life."

He Baifeng's eyes flashed with disdain. "You're starting to dislike me now. When I'm older, won't you dislike me even more? If you want me to go back, you can. But first, help Niuniu find a high school."

Wang Yaling's eyes widened. "Which high school would accept Niuniu in her condition?"

Tan Zhidong also walked out of the room and sighed: "Yeah, Mom, aren't you making things difficult for us?"

He Baifeng's tone was firm: "As long as the money is in place, how can there be no high school? You've been working hard outside for so many years, and I've been helping you take care of Niuniu at home. You bought skirts for your adopted child and enrolled her in tutoring classes. Have I ever said anything to Niuniu? Now I ask you to help Niuniu find a high school, but you're still making excuses."

Wang Yaling was worried that Tan Jing would hear these words again, so she stepped forward and took He Baifeng's hand, "Mom, isn't it just high school? We must find a way to help Niuniu."

He Baifeng nodded and said, "In that case, I will take Niuniu back when you help her find a school."

Wang Yaling and Tan Zhidong looked at each other and nodded helplessly.

However, what they didn't know was that in the room just across the door, Tan Jing had heard He Baifeng's words clearly.

Tan Zhidong and Wang Yaling really wanted He Baifeng to go back as soon as possible, so they started looking for connections that afternoon. In less than three days, they helped Shen Xinran contact a high school.

Worried that He Baifeng wouldn't be satisfied, they still chose the No. 1 County Middle School. Just using connections cost them a full five thousand, and the school selection fee cost them another ten thousand.

You have to know that the average salary at that time was only over 100 yuan.

Wang Yaling told He Baifeng about this, and He Baifeng kept her promise and agreed to return home early the next morning.

In the morning, when Shen Xinran woke up, He Baifeng had already started packing. She didn't call her, but went to the bathroom by herself.

As soon as Shen Xinran came out of the toilet, she was blocked by Tan Jing.

Tan Jing held an exquisite hairpin in her hand, her eyes full of anticipation, "Sister, since you are coming to the city this time, I don't have anything good to give you, so I will give you this hairpin!"

After she finished speaking, without waiting for Shen Xinran's consent, she pinned the hairpin on Shen Xinran's head without saying anything.

Tan Jing took a step back, looked Shen Xinran up and down, and a satisfied smile appeared on her face, "Sister, you look so beautiful wearing this hairpin."

Shen Xinran looked at Tan Jing, a hint of doubt flashed in her eyes, but she didn't say much, just returned to her room silently.
