Chapter 408 The Coward's Black Moonlight Witch 39
At the same time, a man thousands of miles away suddenly vomited blood. He muttered to himself in horror, "Who broke my luck transfer technique?"
The man's hand tightly grasped a broken talisman, which was the medium he used to communicate with someone far away.
Originally, this talisman paper emitted a faint glow, which was proof that his magic was connected to the other party's luck.
But now, the light has disappeared and the talisman paper has become fragile.
The man took a deep breath, trying to calm himself. He knew that this wasn't just a matter of the spell being broken; it also meant that his plans had been seriously disrupted.
He closed his eyes, concentrated, and tried to sense the source of the destructive force.
"Impossible..." he muttered to himself, "How could my spell be broken so easily?"
The man's heart was filled with doubts and fears. He knew that anyone who could break his spell must not be an ordinary person.
…
As soon as the sky in the east began to turn pale, Wang Yaling and Tan Jing got up early. Seeing that Tan Shuai was still sleeping, they did not wake him up.
When Tan Shuai finally woke up from his sleep, he found that the room was empty. He rushed to the gate of the yard and looked around.
But all around was silent, with only the morning breeze and the chirping of birds.
Tan Shuai couldn't help but shed tears, his voice tinged with tears: "Why did my mother and sister leave without telling me?"
Shen Xinran stood aside, watching Tan Shuai's tears streaming down his face. She pursed her lips with disdain, "You're such a grown-up, and you're still crying. How shameful."
Tan Shuai turned around and glared at Shen Xinran fiercely, "None of your business!"
He secretly swore in his heart: as long as he learned his grandmother's housekeeping skills, he would be able to return to the city.
He Baifeng came out of the kitchen with a roasted sweet potato in her hand. She handed it to Shen Xinran and said with a smile, "It's freshly baked. Eat it while it's hot."
Shen Xinran's eyes turned into two crescent moons as she smiled. She took the roasted sweet potato and started eating it. What could be happier than having a hot roasted sweet potato in the middle of winter?
He Baifeng walked up to Tan Shuai again, handed him a roasted sweet potato, and asked, "Want to eat?"
Tan Shuai reached out and knocked the roasted sweet potato out of He Baifeng's hand, sneering, "I won't eat this crap."
The roasted sweet potato fell to the ground, rolled twice, and landed right at Shen Xinran's feet.
Shen Xinran's brows knitted together tightly. She picked up the roasted sweet potato and smiled at He Baifeng, "Grandma, if he doesn't eat it, I will."
Chu Bojian came over at this time. He looked at Tan Shuai with a sharp look. Tan Shuai was so scared that his whole body froze and he held his breath.
Fortunately, Chu Bojian didn't talk to him. He just walked to Shen Xinran and asked, "What does it smell like? It smells so good."
Shen Xinran smiled and said, "Roasted sweet potatoes."
Chu Bojian stretched out his hand, "Give me one!"
Shen Xinran handed Chu Bojian a roasted sweet potato and said with a smile, "This is so sweet and delicious."
Chu Bojian glanced at the crumbs at the corner of Chen Xinran's mouth, a smile flickering in his eyes, "I see."
While Shen Xinran and Chu Bojian were eating roasted sweet potatoes, Tan Shuai was sitting in the corner watching.
The aroma of roasted sweet potatoes kept coming into his nose. He swallowed and his stomach started to growl.
Tan Shuai was not one to let himself be wronged. He walked straight to the kitchen and asked He Baifeng, "Grandma, do you have any roasted sweet potatoes? I want some too."
He Baifeng answered while making a fire, "No more."
Tan Shuai's eyes widened instantly, "I haven't eaten yet, how come it's gone?"
He Baifeng raised her head and glanced at Tan Shuai. "I only roasted two and gave you one just now. You didn't eat it yourself."
Tan Shuai lowered his head in grievance, a hint of regret in his voice, "I didn't know roasted sweet potatoes smelled so good."
The morning sunlight shines through the gaps in the leaves and falls into the yard, creating mottled light and shadows.
Tan Shuai saw He Baifeng packing up the things for the ritual. He walked directly to her side and asked curiously, "Grandma, where are you going?"
While sorting out the instruments, He Baifeng replied, "Someone from Heitu Village asked me to perform a ritual."
Tan Shuai's eyes lit up, and he said excitedly, "I'll go with you!"
He Baifeng nodded, "Okay."
Shen Xinran watched Tan Shuai leave with a smile on his face and return with a pale face. She couldn't help but ask He Baifeng, "What happened to him?"
He Baifeng glanced at Tan Shuai and said lightly, "Maybe he's scared!"
Shen Xinran pursed his lips and muttered softly, "Coward."
When Tan Shuai heard this, his eyes turned red with anger. It was not his fault. The place was too gloomy. He even felt someone touching his ankle, which was creepy.
When Chu Bojian came over to eat, Shen Xinran smiled at Chu Bojian with interest: "Hahaha, I found someone who is less courageous than you."
Chu Bojian retorted seriously: "I am quite courageous."
The corners of Shen Xinran's mouth twitched uncontrollably. He was really being stubborn!
He Baifeng came out of the kitchen, looked at Tan Shuai, and asked, "I have a ritual tomorrow, are you going?"
Tan Shuai wanted to say no, but then something struck him. He clenched his fists and nodded firmly, "Go!"
He secretly vowed in his heart that he would learn his grandmother's special skills as quickly as possible, and then return to the city to teach his sister, so that everyone would look at him with admiration.
…
That morning, Chu Bojian was shopping in town. As he was carrying his bags and preparing to go home, he suddenly heard someone calling his name. "Chu Bojian!"
He turned around and saw his junior high school classmate Xu Peng jogging towards him. "I thought you looked like me just now, but I didn't expect it to be you. What a coincidence!"
Chu Bojian smiled and exchanged pleasantries with Xu Peng: "When did you come back?"
Xu Peng and he got along pretty well in junior high school, but he didn't continue his studies after graduating from junior high school. I heard that he went to work in the city.
Xu Peng replied with a smile: "It's almost Chinese New Year, I just got home yesterday."
As he spoke, he excitedly rolled up his sleeves, revealing the tattoo on his arm, and said proudly, "Look at this, isn't it cool?"
Chu Bojian's eyes were drawn to the lifelike green dragon. He couldn't help but frown: "Getting this tattoo must be very painful."
Xu Peng smiled smugly: "This is just pasted on, there is no feeling at all."
Chu Bojian asked curiously, "How long can this tattoo last?"
Xu Peng shrugged. "I'm not sure, but I've had it on for almost a month now, and the color hasn't faded at all. I have another one at home, would you like it? I can give it to you."
Chu Bojian felt a little itchy in his heart, and he nodded, "Okay, thank you."
