Transformed into a great enemy substitute (25)

Chu Mu wore a conical hat on his head, a mask on his face, and a cloak that could cover his body.

Walking on the street, I am just a passerby who doesn't want to attract attention.

The gaze that followed him was definitely not a spur-of-the-moment decision.

The feeling of anxiety that almost made people feel uneasy made it clear that the owner of the gaze knew Chu Mu.

"What's wrong?"

Nan Mo saw Chu Mu looking around as if he was looking for something, and he immediately became alert and looked around as well.

"No," Chu Mu shook his head, "I'm overthinking it. Let's go back quickly."

Nan Mo knew that Chu Mu was not telling the truth. He nodded and grabbed Chu Mu's hand: "Okay, let's go faster."

The place they were walking in happened to be a busy small street market with many people doing business.

"Selling sugar figures, selling sugar figures."

An old man holding a haystack rack passed by Chu Mu with a hunched back.

"Sir, buy a candy man."

The old man suddenly turned the haystack sideways, blocking Nan Mo and Chu Mu.

"Sir, buy a candy man. The candy man I make is sweet."

As the old man spoke, he pulled a candy figure off the string and forced it on Chu Mu.

Nan Mo quickly pushed aside the shelf and stopped the old man's hand without saying anything: "What are you doing?"

"Oh my," the old man said, staggering as if about to fall. "How can you be so rude? I'm just trying to make a living by selling candy figurines, and yet you're hitting me. It really is true that people get bullied because they're too lowly."

When the old man shouted twice, everyone around him looked over.

Nan Mo didn't want to attract other people's attention, so after such a commotion...

"Old man, I want your candy," Chu Mu took the candy figure that was blocked by Nan Mo. "I'm sorry, my brother is very strong and he means no harm. How about this, I'll ask you for an extra one."

The old man took the copper coin and flipped it, revealing a toothless smile: "Young Master, you are kind-hearted, unlike some people..."

The old man glanced at Nan Mo sideways, then carried the haystack and went to other places to shout.

The crowd that had gathered around soon dispersed when they saw that there was nothing exciting to watch.

"That old guy." Nan Mo was full of anger.

"Okay," Chu Mu handed the candy figure he bought to Nan Mo, "Eat some candy to calm down."

The old man is a terrible person, but he makes good sugar figures.

What Chu Mu held in his hand was a cute little jade rabbit, and what he gave to Nan Mo was a big dog with its mouth open.

Chu Mu stared at it for a few seconds and smiled: "Don't mention it, it looks quite similar to you now."

"..." Nan Mo bit down angrily, "Ah——"

The teeth are stuck.

"Hahaha." Chu Mu laughed happily and quietly put the candy wrapper wrapped on the bamboo stick into his sleeve.

At the gate of the Duke's Mansion, the city defenders led by Lin Jingzhi were still standing there in a daze.

When they saw Chu Mu coming back obediently, they all breathed a sigh of relief.

"Has Mr. Lin not returned yet?" Chu Mu asked the old butler who came to greet him in a low voice.

"No, our whistle sent word back that there was a big commotion at Nansi Bridge."

The old housekeeper had a gossipy look on his face.

"Commander Lin wanted to kill the young guard, but the girl stopped him. Today is the day for flower viewing and the garden is crowded, and the girl started to tell everyone about Commander Lin and the official's wife, and it seems to be getting bigger and bigger."

"Oh, that's none of my business." Chu Mu showed no sympathy. "I'm hungry, go eat."

After dinner, there was only one night left before the three-day appointment.

The Duke's Mansion was surrounded by three layers of security, and everyone was on high alert, so that not even a fly could get in.

Of course, people inside can’t even think about getting out.

Chu Mu acted as if nothing had happened. He ate, took a walk, and visited the big garden of the Duke's Mansion as usual. He even took his lame yellow dog for a walk.

When it was completely dark, he said good night to everyone as usual and returned to his yard to prepare for bed.

As soon as I opened the dormitory door, a hoarse voice sounded next to my ear.

"Young Master, you are in such a good mood. If you don't come, I will just sleep on the bed. If I scare you, I will be guilty."

Chu Mu calmly closed the door and lit the candle on the table: "The Duke has to hide his head and tail when entering and leaving his own house. How aggrieved."

"Hahaha." The person who came chuckled three times. It was actually the toothless old man who sold sugar figures at the market during the day.

"If I were really Xu Zhi, the first thing I would do would be to tie up this disobedient fox of yours and fuck him hard."

Chu Mu was stunned. Why did this vulgar and mosaic speaking style give him such a long-lost sense of familiarity?

"Little mute," the old man suddenly straightened his hunched body, revealing his original height, "I missed you so much."

Chu Mu's pupils trembled, and he looked into the eyes of the person in front of him in disbelief: "You - you are -"

"Ah," the man nodded, "I am Jie Ye."

Chu Mu took a step back: "Impossible, how did you get here?"

"Yu Tai Sui," the man approached Chu Mu, "I fell into a coma after eating it, and then I don't know how, when I opened my eyes again, I was on this guy."

Chu Mu still did not let down his guard, so the man stopped one step away from Chu Mu: "Little mute, I missed you so much."

"You—are you really Jie Ye?"

"It's genuine. If you don't believe me, we can try it on the bed. I remember you seemed to like the old man pushing the cart very much. I'm disguised as an old man now..."
