Chapter 19: The Cold-Blooded Sentinel's Overbearing Love for the Little Guide: Am I Going to Die?
The doctor did not expect Gu Shanshan's reaction to be so severe. When he saw Gu Shanshan vomiting blood, his heart almost stopped.
But Wen Ziting's eyes were fixed on Gu Shanshan. Even though he was worried, he didn't dare to do anything.
Fortunately, Gu Shanshan's body only vomited blood for a few minutes before her condition gradually changed.
A ring of fine white hair grew on his smooth arms, a white tail grew from his tailbone, and even two white, furry ears grew on his head.
The doctor did not control the dosage of the catalyst well, which caused Gu Shanshan to behave more like an animal.
Seeing Gu Shanshan transform into a half-animal, half-human form, Wen Ziting's ashen eyes flickered.
Look at the doctor.
The doctor's legs went weak with fear at the sight of those bulging, almost popping-out eyeballs.
I had to bite the bullet and explain.
"This is a mutation caused by something extracted from his blood. If the vaccine developed later can turn him back into a human, then by the same token, the vaccine will also work on you."
"roar!"
Wen Ziting is now unable to speak. He picked up some discarded paper and pen and struggled to write down a few words.
"how long?"
He asked about the timeline for vaccine development.
The doctor spoke within the timeframe he had previously agreed upon with Gu Shanshan, "Seven days."
"roar!"
Wen Ziting roared, clearly dissatisfied with the answer.
When Wen Ziting roared, spittle flew out.
The saliva, mixed with blood, splattered onto the doctor's face and body, causing him to tremble and dread wiping it away.
He quickly wrote a few crooked words on the paper.
"I'll give you three more days. If you can't figure it out by then, you're all dead!"
After writing it, he threw it at the doctor.
He picked up the axe from the ground and chopped hard at the wooden plank where Gu Shanshan was lying, and the plank broke in two under the weight.
The axe was only a few centimeters away from Gu Shanshan. If her hand had trembled and she had moved it a few centimeters more, she would have chopped off Gu Shanshan's leg.
Because her body was forcibly transformed into an image-like animal, Gu Shanshan's body couldn't withstand it and she was in so much pain that her whole body was convulsing. Therefore, she didn't even notice that her leg had almost been chopped off.
After Wen Ziting finished his attack, he gave Gu Shanshan a fierce look, then turned and left.
Immediately afterwards, the sound of a lock being locked could be heard outside, followed by heavy footsteps walking away.
The doctor collapsed to the ground only after all the sounds had ceased to be heard.
"Hmm..."
Hearing Gu Shanshan's painful moan, the doctor wiped the cold sweat from his forehead and hurriedly stepped forward.
Looking at Gu Shanshan with concern, he asked, "How are you? Are you alright?"
Gu Shanshan clenched her teeth tightly, her face deathly pale from the physical pain.
Hearing the doctor's words, she wanted to reply, but all she could manage to utter was a sound of pain.
The doctor was extremely anxious. He turned around and rummaged through the medicine box, finding a prepared painkiller.
The needle pierced Gu Shanshan's arm skin and injected the painkiller.
After the painkiller was administered, it took Gu Shanshan a few more minutes to recover.
Gu Shanshan opened her eyes and stared blankly at the ceiling, her chest heaving as she gasped for breath.
His pupils were dilated, showing that he had just been in extreme pain.
After waiting a few more minutes, Gu Shanshan finally calmed down and turned her head to look at the doctor with gratitude.
"Thanks."
After saying that, Gu Shanshan looked down at her hands and saw sparse white hairs growing on her arms.
She closed her eyes and sighed, only able to pray in her heart that Gong Ye would find her soon.
"How is the situation? What did Wen Ziting say?"
Gu Shanshan was in so much pain that she lost all sense of reason and didn't hear what Wen Ziting was saying to the doctor.
At this point, the doctor wiped away a bead of sweat.
He said dejectedly, "He only gave me two days."
Two days is too short; he simply doesn't have the capability to produce a so-called vaccine.
"It doesn't matter."
Gu Shanshan encouraged the doctor, "We've at least bought two days. We must believe that Gong Ye will be able to find us within two days."
Actually, Gu Shanshan wasn't confident when she said those words.
Three whole days have passed, and there is still no news from Gong Ye.
Now that he's in this state again, I wonder if his condition will be even worse when Gong Ye finds him.
......
Since Gu Shanshan disappeared, Gong Ye has been almost insane, ordering the vaccine research center to speed up vaccine development while simultaneously ordering all available resources to conduct a thorough search.
As time dragged on, Gong Ye's patience gradually wore thin.
He was extremely irritable, like a barrel of explosives containing hundreds of tons of dynamite, ready to obliterate the world at the slightest spark.
Gong Ye's men lived in constant fear, none daring to appear before him, for fear of being used as cannon fodder and killed if they did something wrong.
Finally, on the fifth day after Gu Shanshan went missing, good news arrived.
In the conference room.
Gong Ye stood at the head of the table with a gloomy expression, flanked by subordinates who kept their heads down and dared not even breathe.
There was a map on the table.
In the past, they could use satellite maps directly, which made observation much easier.
However, since the large-scale outbreak of the zombie virus, many facilities have not only failed to receive timely maintenance, but have also been destroyed by zombies, and now they can only be viewed using maps.
A subordinate pointed to a location on the map and explained to Miyako.
"My lord, the situation here is very strange. There are zombies roaming around, but our people have checked and no zombies have come near here, whether it is day or night."
"We reasonably suspect that a mutated species of a higher level than zombies lives here."
"And according to the footage of Wen Ziting's escape, his body did indeed undergo irreversible mutations."
Gong Ye stared coldly at the red dot, his eyes bloodshot from staying up for several days.
He hasn't had a break since Gu Shanshan disappeared.
He couldn't sleep peacefully until Gu Shanshan was safe and he held her in his arms.
His well-defined fingers pointed to a point on the map, and he gave a cold command.
"Give the order: get ready and follow me immediately."
After giving the orders, Gong Ye led his men to the location marked on the map almost without stopping.
......
On Gu Shanshan's side.
In the blink of an eye, it was time to meet Wen Ziting.
Wen Ziting will come to this house when night falls tonight.
They will die then.
Today is the agreed time; they simply cannot possibly have a vaccine.
The doctor had already untied Gu Shanshan from the wooden board. Through the cracks in the sealed window, the two watched the sun gradually set, about to disappear below the horizon, and their hearts clenched with anxiety.
Finally, as the sun set and the sky darkened, heavier footsteps came from outside the door.
Immediately following was the sound of the door lock being ripped open.
Clang!
It was the sound of metal being torn off and thrown on the ground, showing that Wen Ziting's abilities after his mutation were terrifying; he was already able to break car locks with his bare hands.
Another loud crash followed, this time the door was kicked down and kicked into the ground, raising a cloud of dust.
The doctor and Gu Shanshan looked toward the door and saw a huge, ugly body standing there.
It's Wen Ziting.
In just two days, Wen Ziting's body became even more disgusting.
On Wen Ziting's forehead, another pair of eyes grew, with vertical pupils like those of a snake.
Wen Ziting's body was hunched over, his wings on his back had disappeared and been replaced by thick scales, and his two arms had turned into claws.
Seeing Wen Ziting's expression, the doctor and Gu Shanshan swallowed hard in fear and backed away repeatedly.
One person was holding a wooden plank, and the other was holding an axe.
When Wen Ziting saw the way the two of them looked, he knew he had been deceived.
"roar!"
After an angry roar from an animal, it strode towards the two of them.
They're all liars!
Gu Shanshan, that bitch, actually dared to collude with the doctor to deceive and mock him. Wen Ziting's eyes were filled with the flames of anger, wishing he could burn Gu Shanshan to ashes.
Wen Ziting moved too fast, and before Gu Shanshan could react, she was knocked down, and the axe in her hand fell to the ground.
The doctor wasn't in much better condition either; he was pushed aside.
However, because Wen Ziting's target was Gu Shanshan, the doctor was not seriously injured.
Seeing Wen Ziting pick up the axe, the doctor rushed up from behind carrying a wooden board, intending to hit Wen Ziting on the back of the head with the board and knock him unconscious.
Bang!
After a loud thud, the wooden board hit Wen Ziting on the back of the head, but there was no injury on the back of Wen Ziting's head. Instead, the wooden board could not withstand the weight and broke into two pieces.
Wen Ziting's only target is Gu Shanshan, and the only person he hates is Gu Shanshan.
Therefore, when the doctor hit him, it didn't hurt or itch at all.
Wen Ziting simply turned around unhappily and kicked the doctor hard.
"ah......"
After a piercing scream, the doctor's body was kicked away, crashing against the wall before falling to the ground.
When the back of his head hit the wall, it bled and he passed out.
Looking at the doctor who had fainted, and then at Wen Ziting who was carrying an axe and walking towards him step by step.
Gu Shanshan felt desperate.
He kept backing away.
But the room is only so big, where can he retreat to?
He was quickly cornered by Wen Ziting.
Wen Ziting, carrying an axe, glared at Gu Shanshan so fiercely that his eyes bulged out and bled.
Two lines of blood hung on Wen Ziting's deathly pale face, making him more terrifying than a ghost.
Gu Shanshan knew she had no way out. She closed her eyes, gritted her teeth, and unwillingly accepted the approach of death.
Is he really going to die here today?
I'm so unwilling to accept this...
"roar!"
Wen Ziting stared at Gu Shanshan, letting out a furious and painful roar. He raised his axe and brought it down hard on Gu Shanshan's neck...
