Chapter 10: The Cold-Blooded Sentinel's Little Guide: Let Him Die Without Pain

Chapter 10: The Cold-Blooded Sentinel's Little Guide: Let Him Die Without Pain

His sharp eyes were fixed on Gu Shanshan's arm. "Shanshan, what happened to your hand?"

The voice was cold; though it was a question, it was phrased as an accusation.

It was obvious that they had figured out what was wrong with Gu Shanshan's hand.

"I......"

Gu Shanshan moved her mouth, but her throat felt like it was blocked by a wad of cotton, and she couldn't say a word.

On his way back, he kept hoping for the best.

She thought that Wen Ziting was lying to her, and that the medicine he gave her was just ordinary medicine, not some terrible zombie virus at all.

But now the poison has taken effect.

He really did contract the deadly zombie virus.

The thought of turning into a terrifying monster filled Gu Shanshan with fear and panic.

His eyes reddened with anxiety.

Gong Ye subconsciously walked towards Gu Shanshan.

Gu Shanshan stared wide-eyed in fear, backing away repeatedly.

Gong Ye's gaze at him was so terrifying that it made Gu Shanshan feel inexplicably flustered and afraid.

Seeing Gong Ye stride towards her, and just a few steps away from being close enough, Gu Shanshan screamed in terror.

"Stop! Don't come any closer!"

The sound was very sharp.

Upon hearing this, Gong Ye stopped in his tracks, staring intently at Gu Shanshan, his gaze lingering on her exposed arm skin.

The bite mark was covered with blue veins that spread like a spider web.

He had read the research data from the gene lab and knew that those were the initial signs of infection with the zombie virus.

Her voice was cold as she questioned, "Gu Shanshan, you lied to me."

"Didn't you tell me you weren't infected? What happened to your hands?"

Gong Ye's voice was chillingly cold.

"I don't know... I don't know how it turned out like this."

Because of fear and anxiety, Gu Shanshan's voice trembled and choked with sobs.

No one can remain rational and calm when facing their own gradual zombification.

Gong Ye, however, seemed oblivious to Gu Shanshan's impending emotional breakdown, and questioned her coldly, word by word.

"Gu Shanshan, you didn't tell me at first, were you afraid I would kill you?"

Before Gu Shanshan could answer, he continued speaking in a sarcastic tone.

"Gu Shanshan, you don't trust me. You've never trusted me, have you!"

By the end, his voice had turned as cold as ice.

Gong Ye's state of mind suggests that, regarding the zombie virus, he cares more about Gu Shanshan's attitude towards him.

He didn't care about the zombie virus, but he did care whether Gu Shanshan was deceiving him.

"Gu Shanshan, you really disappoint me."

It was a waste that he had been happy before because Gu Shanshan had obediently thrown herself into his arms for help.

It turns out that Gu Shanshan had only been using him from the beginning, using him to escape Wen Ziting's questioning and to save her life.

"If I hadn't discovered that you were infected with the zombie virus, would you have kept it a secret indefinitely?"

Faced with Gong Ye's questions, Gu Shanshan had no words to refute them.

Because everything Miyako said was correct.

Under the man's cold gaze, he nodded with difficulty and said, "Yes, you're right."

"I'm a coward, I'm afraid you'll kill me!"

As Gu Shanshan shouted these words with red eyes, she suddenly reached out and grabbed the gun on the table.

With trembling hands, he raised the gun, the dark muzzle aimed at Gong Ye's position.

With a choked voice, she warned, "Gong Ye, don't come any closer, I don't want to die."

Gong Ye was already angry because Gu Shanshan had lied to him, and now he saw Gu Shanshan pointing a gun at him.

Suddenly, I felt so angry that I wanted to strangle the person.

The young guide must have had a death wish to point a gun at himself.

His already gloomy face was now even more clouded, and his dark eyes were filled with terrifying ferocity.

"Gu Shanshan, do you know what you're doing?"

His voice was filled with gritted teeth, as if he wished he could grab Gu Shanshan, chew her up, and swallow her whole.

Gu Shanshan was afraid of Gong Ye's murderous look, but she was even more afraid that Gong Ye would kill her.

Gong Ye is the younger brother of the Emperor of the Empire and the king of the Sentinel Tower.

Regardless of his identity, Gong Ye must kill him, a person already infected with the zombie virus.

But he can't die.

"Gong Ye, I know you're angry, but there's nothing I can do."

"I'm afraid if I told you that Wen Ziting injected me with a zombie virus, you would kill me on the spot, and I don't want to die."

As Gu Shanshan spoke, tears streamed down her cheeks as she became increasingly heartbroken.

The tip of her pert nose was tinged with red, making her look pitiful.

"Gong Ye, please don't kill me."

Gu Shanshan cried and pleaded, "I really don't want to die, please don't kill me, I beg you, Gong Ye..."

Seeing Gu Shanshan crying with tears streaming down her face, Gong Ye's heart ached with pain.

In the blink of an eye, he saw Gu Shanshan pointing a gun at him, crying and begging him to let him go.

It felt very ironic and ridiculous.

She sneered coldly, "Gu Shanshan, you're pointing a gun at me, yet you're begging me not to kill you. What kind of logic is that?"

"What if I don't agree? You're not going to just shoot me dead!"

That last sentence was filled with anger.

Gu Shanshan bit her lower lip, shaking her head as she cried.

"I...I dare not..."

He couldn't bring himself to shoot someone.

Moreover, since Miyako is his target, how could he possibly harm her?

"Dare not? Hmph..."

Gong Ye snorted coldly, "Gu Shanshan, let's see if you dare."

After Gong Ye finished speaking, his handsome face was cold and he strode toward Gu Shanshan.

They didn't take the gun in Gu Shanshan's hand seriously at all.

Gu Shanshan's pupils dilated in terror. "No, don't come any closer! I'll really kill you! Please..."

As Gong Ye drew closer and closer, Gu Shanshan's hand gripping the gun trembled uncontrollably.

But the finger on the trigger couldn't bring itself to pull it.

Gu Shanshan's threat was nothing compared to the reckless Gong Ye.

Gong Ye got angry at Gu Shanshan's appearance and deliberately provoked him by speaking.

"Gu Shanshan, if you have the guts, then shoot."

As soon as he finished speaking, he walked up to Gu Shanshan.

Gong Ye had just finished showering and was wearing only a black bathrobe. His tall figure stood in front of Gu Shanshan, looking down at her.

His eyes were icy cold.

Gu Shanshan's hand holding the gun was trembling, and she looked at the man standing in front of her with fear in her eyes.

Every inch of my skin was trembling, and every bone and blood in my body was screaming in fear.

He was the one with the weapon, while Gong Ye was the one who was unarmed.

But Gong Ye stood in front of him, and their positions were instantly reversed.

This makes him seem like a pitiful victim being threatened, while Gong Ye is the demon wielding a weapon.

Seeing Gu Shanshan trembling, Gong Ye felt even more ironic.

He bent down and half-squatted in front of Gu Shanshan.

Even when he was half-squatting, his powerful and chilling aura was still impossible to ignore.

Gong Ye reached out and grabbed Gu Shanshan's hand that was holding the gun, pointing the muzzle at his own heart.

He looked up, staring at Gu Shanshan with a gloomy expression.

"Didn't you warn me not to come any closer, or you'd shoot me? Now I'm here, standing right in front of you. Go ahead and shoot."

"When you pointed a gun at me and threatened me, you were so tough. Why are your hands shaking now?"

Gong Ye roared in fury, "Shoot!"

Gu Shanshan was so frightened that her hand trembled, and the black gun slipped from her hand and fell to the ground.

Clang...

The gun fell to the tile floor with a crisp sound.

Gu Shanshan cried her eyes out and suddenly threw herself into Gong Ye's arms.

Sobbing and pleading, "I'm sorry, sob sob... I didn't mean to, I really didn't mean to, I was just scared..."

Gong Ye was angry because Gu Shanshan pointed a gun at him, and because Gu Shanshan deliberately deceived and distrusted him.

When Gu Shanshan pounced on him, he could have ruthlessly pushed her away.

The large hand pushed Gu Shanshan to the ground.

But when Gu Shanshan pounced on him, he couldn't bear to let her go.

The hand that was about to push the person away had already moved faster than the person's body, and had already pulled the person into a tight embrace.

Gu Shanshan was truly terrified by the fear caused by the virus and by Gong Ye's threats.

She buried her face in Gong Ye's arms and cried uncontrollably.

"Gong Ye, I'm sorry, I really know I was wrong. Please don't hand me over, please give me the vaccine, I don't want to die, I really don't want to die..."

Just as Gu Shanshan was crying, the doorbell rang.

At this time, who would come looking for him?

Gong Ye frowned, a hint of displeasure flashing in his eyes.

Hearing the doorbell, Gu Shanshan clung tightly to Gong Ye, even more frightened.

Looking up at Gong Ye through teary eyes, she pleaded humbly, "Gong Ye, I haven't lost my mind yet. I can still hold on. Please don't hand me over, okay? I don't want to die. I want to be with you..."

Gong Ye's heart trembled upon hearing Gu Shanshan's last words.

She grabbed Gu Shanshan's chin, forcing him to look up and meet her gaze.

"Was that just now another lie?"

"No, I'm not lying to you." Gu Shanshan shook her head, crying. "I'll never lie to you again."

"snort!"

Gong Ye snorted coldly, it was unclear whether he believed it or not.

He didn't say whether he would hand Gu Shanshan over, wiped away Gu Shanshan's tears with his thumb, and started to take off Gu Shanshan's clothes.

At this moment, Gong Ye was his only protection, his only lifeline.

No matter what Gong Ye did, Gu Shanshan didn't dare to stop him.

He let Gong Ye take off his clothes and put on a large white bathrobe.

The bathrobe was very large and loose on Gu Shanshan, revealing the purplish-blue marks remaining on her neck.

Those marks were all made by Gong Ye on the plane.

Gong Ye covered the signs of the zombie virus on Gu Shanshan's arm with a bathrobe, then picked her up and went to open the door.

Just as he expected, Wen Ziting and several high-ranking officials from the south stood at the door with two armed sentries.

Wen Ziting didn't dare to look at Gong Ye, and pretended to be threatened, pointing tremblingly at Gu Shanshan in Gong Ye's arms.

"It's him. He was bitten by a zombie. If you don't believe me, check his arm."

Lin Haidong, playing along with Wen Ziting's performance, said, "Mr. Gong, your little pet has been infected with the zombie virus. For the safety of the entire base and humanity, you should hand him over and lock him up in prison."

"Of course, since he hasn't completely lost his mind yet, we will choose a humane way to die so that he doesn't suffer too much."
