Chapter 29: Arguing
Gu Shanshan was dumbfounded by Gong Ye's shameless and lewd words.
He never imagined that even if Gong Ye didn't remember him, he would still be such a beast.
It seems that it's true what they say: "It's easier to change mountains and rivers than to change one's nature."
Without thinking, Gu Shanshan angrily shouted, "Get out!"
Enraged, she stood up, pointed at Gu Shanshan's nose, and shouted, "Anyway, I have nothing to do with you. I've already hired a doctor. Take it or leave it, get checked or not!"
After finishing her angry rant, Gu Shanshan, her face flushed with shame and indignation, turned and left the ward.
"Gu..."
Bang!
Before the housekeeper could even call out to Gu Shanshan, the door was slammed shut by Gu Shanshan.
Gong Ye's words were spoken very close to Gu Shanshan's ear, so no one else heard them except for the two of them.
No one knew what they had said to each other, only that Gu Shanshan suddenly blushed, then lashed out at Gong Ye, and then slammed the door and left.
After Gu Shanshan left, Gong Ye's expression immediately turned cold.
His face was frighteningly cold.
The doctor and housekeeper in the room kept their heads down, trembling with fear and not daring to breathe.
Everyone was afraid of incurring the wrath of this living devil.
An eerie silence lasted for a very long time. Just when the butler and the doctor were at a loss for what to do, Gong Ye finally spoke.
He simply uttered two words coldly.
"examine."
The butler breathed a sigh of relief upon hearing this.
He immediately ordered the doctor to examine Gong Ye, and as for Gu Shanshan, no one dared to mention her again.
......
After leaving the ward, Gu Shanshan stormed off several steps.
Before I knew it, I had wandered far from the ward.
After Gu Shanshan finally calmed down, she had already arrived at the outpatient clinic.
Everywhere were patients waiting to see a doctor, and Gu Shanshan dared not linger there, afraid that she would block their way and delay their treatment.
He quickly stepped aside, pressed the elevator button, and casually went up to the third floor.
The third floor consists of the offices of the attending physicians. Most of the doctors are not in their offices at the moment, so the third floor is quiet, which is just right for Gu Shanshan to calm down.
Gu Shanshan went to the emergency exit and sat down on the steps.
Ask the system, "[007, what exactly happened to Gong Ye?]"
His tone was full of distress.
007 replied, "It's very likely amnesia."
After saying that, he added another sentence.
[Host, if we're really going to nitpick, you're the culprit.]
The system's words made Gu Shanshan even more depressed.
Frustrated, she complained to the system, "[How can this target be so twisted? He's been stabbed in the heart, lost his memory, and forgotten who I am. How could he think such filthy things and say such disgusting things the first time he saw me!]"
After venting his frustrations, he added...
[007, tell me honestly, is it just that the objectives in this world are so bizarre, or are the objectives in every world just this twisted and bizarre?]
Gu Shanshan's question silenced the system.
007 hesitated for a very long time before weakly answering.
[Ahem... Host, it's best if you don't ask.]
How could it dare to say that Gu Shanshan was just incredibly unlucky, with Gong Ye being her target in every world?
Naturally, the objectives in each world have become abnormally difficult.
Fearing that Gu Shanshan would ask further questions, 007 preemptively continued speaking.
[Host, the God System stipulates that I cannot tell you about other worlds; that would be a violation of the God System's rules.]
Okay, then I won't ask anymore.
Gu Shanshan was in a terrible state of mind and wouldn't make things difficult for the system.
Because he knew that even if he put himself in a difficult position, 007 wouldn't dare say anything.
The system he was bound to was cowardly and timid, and a real rip-off.
Gu Shanshan sat in the stairwell for a long time, burying her head in her hands, before slowly raising her head and standing up.
He sighed, "[007, check if that beast Gong Ye has been examined yet.]"
007 immediately replied, "[It has been accepted, host, please rest assured.]"
Don't worry about it.
Gu Shanshan thought to herself, then walked out through the emergency exit.
As soon as I stepped outside, I saw the housekeeper and a doctor coming out of the elevator.
Upon seeing Gu Shanshan, the butler immediately rushed to greet him, "Young Master Shanshan, where did you go? Mr. Gong has been looking for you."
Gu Shanshan rolled her eyes inwardly, wondering why Gong Ye was looking for her again.
He gave the butler a stiff smile and asked, "Butler, how is Gong Ye?"
The butler looked at the doctor and said, "The test results have just come out, and I'm not entirely sure about them either. Why don't we go into Dr. Xu's office together and listen to what he has to say?"
The butler extended an invitation.
Gu Shanshan thought that Gong Ye was her target, and even though she hated Gong Ye, she still couldn't escape him.
As the saying goes, "Know yourself and know your enemy, and you will win every battle."
Even if he knew he couldn't defeat Gong Ye, it would be good to know more about the situation.
He nodded in agreement, "Okay."
As Gu Shanshan spoke, she followed the two into Dr. Xu's office.
In the office.
Dr. Xu took out a brain CT scan and explained it to Gu Shanshan and the housekeeper.
"Upon examination, we found that Mr. Gong suffered a relatively severe impact to the back of his head, and there was blood stasis in this area inside his skull."
Dr. Xu pointed to a small shadowy area on the CT scan.
He continued to explain, "Because of the pressure from the blood clots, Mr. Gong has lost part of his memory."
Upon hearing this, Gu Shanshan understood.
"So, Gong Ye is the only one who has lost his memory of me, right?"
Dr. Xu nodded. "That's how it is for now."
"When will it be restored?"
Gu Shanshan asked the crucial question, and as she asked it, she prayed in her heart that Gong Ye would never get better.
Everything that had happened between him and Gong Ye had left him with extremely unpleasant memories.
Not only did he not want to remember, but he also didn't want Gong Ye to remember.
However, Gu Shanshan's beautiful dream was ruthlessly shattered by Dr. Xu in the next second.
"It depends on when the bruises dissipate."
The butler asked anxiously, "Isn't there any other way?"
"There is a solution, but..."
The doctor frowned as he spoke.
Gu Shanshan asked, "But what?"
“Mr. Gong was just injured, and the wound is located in such a dangerous place as his chest. If we want to forcibly restore his memory now, we must use surgery.”
"As you know, performing brain surgery is a rather dangerous procedure."
"Of course, craniotomy can quickly remove the blood clots in Mr. Gong's brain and help him recover his lost memories as soon as possible."
"I won't do it!"
Before the housekeeper could say anything, Gu Shanshan spoke up urgently, "Gong Ye can't have brain surgery!"
Dr. Xu immediately agreed, "That's what I think too. It would indeed be very dangerous for Mr. Gong to undergo craniotomy in his condition."
To the butler, Gu Shanshan's words were another order from the master of the Gong family.
They also mistakenly thought that Gu Shanshan was saying this because she was worried about Gong Ye's condition, so they didn't say anything more.
The question was simply, "If we don't perform craniotomy to remove the intracranial hemorrhage, when will Mr. Gong be able to regain his memory?"
This question put Dr. Xu in a difficult position.
Dr. Xu pondered for a long time before slowly answering.
"It depends on the situation. If Mr. Gong recovers well, he can recover in less than a month. But if the recovery is slow, it may take a year or even several years."
"Okay, we understand. Thank you for your hard work, doctor."
Gu Shanshan felt very fortunate upon hearing this.
She even prayed in her heart that it would be best if Gong Ye could recover his memories of him in a year and a half or a decade or more.
Anyway, by then he will most likely have completed his mission and left this world, so whether Gong Yehui regains his memories or not will not matter much to him.
After leaving Dr. Xu's office, Gu Shanshan asked the housekeeper to go to the ward first, while she took the prescription, ostensibly to get medicine for Gong Ye.
In reality, she was avoiding meeting Gong Ye.
The butler didn't think much of it. Seeing Gu Shanshan's attentive manner, he assumed that Gu Shanshan genuinely wanted to do something for Gong Ye.
They didn't say that all they had to do was give the order and hospital staff would deliver everything to the ward, so they just let Gu Shanshan do as she pleased.
......
There was a long queue at the medicine window. Gu Shanshan didn't want to see Gong Ye soon, so she deliberately chose the longest queue to get her medicine.
While holding the order form, he also looked down at his phone.
When I was halfway through the queue, I heard a very familiar voice.
"Dad, sit here and don't move. I'll go get your medicine."
Upon hearing that familiar voice, Gu Shanshan shuddered and immediately turned off her phone, stuffing it into her pocket.
Looking towards the source of the sound, they indeed saw a familiar figure.
It's Zhang Yang.
Zhang Yang was her savior, while Gong Ye was the one who tormented her. Gu Shanshan felt a thousand times better seeing him than seeing Gong Ye.
Without even thinking, he immediately raised his hand and called out, "Zhang Yang!"
Zhang Yang heard someone call his name. He looked in the direction of the sound and saw Gu Shanshan standing in the line to buy medicine.
Excitedly, he waved to Gu Shanshan, walked over, and asked, "Shanshan, what are you doing here?"
Gu Shanshan sighed deeply, "It's a long story about a child without a mother."
"By the way, enough about me. What are you doing here?"
Zhang Yang's expression turned bitter. "My father..."
After the housekeeper returned to the ward, he immediately betrayed Gu Shanshan, describing to Gong Ye how nervous Gu Shanshan was when she heard about his illness, and that Gu Shanshan was very worried about him and personally went to queue up to buy medicine for him.
Gong Ye felt a little happy upon hearing this.
Although he didn't know why he showed such great interest in Gu Shanshan, a complete stranger.
He immediately ordered the butler to push him in a wheelchair to find Gu Shanshan, that two-faced little wildcat.
But he never expected to see Gu Shanshan chatting happily with another man, her face beaming with joy...
